Pride of the Yankees - the only Gary Cooper movie worth watching

Bang the Drum Slowly - Well acted throughout

Bull Durham - Perfect

Field of Dreams - “Is this heaven?”

Brian’s Song - I remember watching this as a kid and knowing it was something special.

Trouble Along the Way - John Wayne, college football, Donna Reed (my heart). This movie ends up being truer than the history books as to the way college football has operated.

Chariots of Fire- I remember sitting in the theater and thinking how the acting, the look of the film, the music, never missed a thing in taking me back to that era.

I may have to edit this. I'm excluding Something For Joey (as others should, as it's a given).

Rocky
The Hustler (I'm counting it as a sport b/c I love the movie)
Field of Dreams
Hoosiers
Bad News Bears
Slap Shot
Breaking Away
Good list. Can I add Pride of the Yankees (Lou Gehrig story), Miracle on Ice and Remember the Titans.

That isn’t bad. I would replace Hoosiers with tin cup or even caddyshack for some humor in sport, of course slap shot is damn funny.

something for Joey?
As a former wrestler, vision quest.
vision quest maybe a better workout movie than Rocky.

Field of Dreams....been there and sat in bleachers!
For Love of the Game
Bagger Vance
Brian's Song
Draft Day
Slap Shot
Ford vs Ferrari

Extr Credit:
As a cancer survivor this was a must watch for me everyday....I admit it was emotional at first...but slowly made my competitive fire burn to beat the sheet out of the disease!

1993 Jim Valvano Speech "Don't Ever Give Up"

I do not know if I am a survivor because of the research he spoke about....
I do know there are other people who regularly participate here....and if his speech helped save anyone else...
THAT is definite evidence... Miracles Do Happen!

Hard to pick just 7. Here is one each for 10 different sports

Boxing-Rocky
Baseball-The Natural (with all due respect to Field of Dreams and Major League)
Wrestling-Vision Quest
Basketball-Hoosiers
Hockey-Miracle (though Slap Shot is 1b)
Pool-The Hustler (it’s dark…you gotta be addicted to the game for this one)
Skiing-Better Off Dead (is there a better skiing movie? I don’t think so!)
Golf-Caddyshack (nuf said)
Chess-Searching for Bobby Fisher (if chess could be considered a sport)
Horseracing-Secretariat (although Animal House and Private School with the delightful Betsy Russell had some fine equestrian scenes)

Rush was pretty damn good. Like it better than f1 or gran taurismo or driven.

Happy Valley possibly the best of the Joe films without the liberties taken in other films that are loaded with ********.

Sorry, I can't do an unranked list

1- Breaking Away
2- Rocky
3- The Sandlot
4- Man On A Wire
5- The Harder They Fall (Bogie, not Jimmy Cliff)
6- Chariots of Fire
7- Cool Runnings

Worst: The Natural. I had the pleasure of reading Malamud's novel a few years before I had the misery of seeing the movie. They completely F’d up a great book and dumbed it down for Hollywood.

Talladega Nights! The dinner scene with the grandfather is ridiculously funny.

I can’t believe no one on this list mentioned “Something for Joey” or am I the only one old enough to remember it ?
It wasn’t a Hollywood movie, more made for TV, but the story was awesome.

Several did mention Something for Joey, but good call to bring it up again, post a picture.
