CPS used it a few years was named Buddy Young stadium. Old campus was demolished in 05-06. Actually the board of directors at SR were planning to renovate the old campus but once Quigley was available they changed course and purchased the new campus. Also the stands at the new campus are from...
I was told Reason why they were removed back in 03 was due to the fact they were fearful of someone flicking a lit cigarette on the newly installed field turf and that would nullify the warranty for the turf. Not sure if that was bogus or what, that was a rumor that I had heard.
Not sure if anyone is aware, but Rita has removed the visitors stands. Those were brought over with the move to the new campus from Claremont. I know they were redone with new aluminum bleachers 29 years ago. But now they only have seating on 1 side of the field only. Originally when Doyle...
I’m thinking that parents have grown tired of the “ you can be assured that your child is going to a safe environment for high school”. I have gone through this process of open houses at a couple of schools with 2 sons. Those statements are direct shots at MC and SR. Most of the kids that go to...
Tommy Dennis body surfed ontop of the Carmel players at midfield. Awesome sight to see. Unfortunately MC really took it to us that day. But we bounced back and beat Purdue bound Cory Rodgers the next week for the final game. One of the best backs at the time.
Found this little gem from 27 years ago in the Chicago tribune. A nice write up about the old Snakepit. Something for the old timers. Fitting for this great catholic league battle.

In the 89 game I saw Novickas would have to come out every couple of plays so Dr. Wollen could re adjust his dislocated knee. Talk about a tough guy, he would come hobbling off the field damn near tears miss a play or Two and get fixed up and head back out there. Toughest guy I ever saw play...
I like the uptempo offense. Get a play off every 15 seconds. Keeps the defense on the field. St pats was sucking air by the end of the first quarter with hands on hips. They are in great shape to do it. Last night Rich central was doing the same. As long as they avoid turnovers and quick 3 and outs.
I'm new to the board. But I would like to add to the post. Going back to the 1989 season finally for the CCL championship at Gatley, St. Rita beat Carmel 14-7 in front of 10,000+. What a sight to see people lined up around the perimeter of the fence about 10-12 deep. The mounted police had a...
