OT: Rutgers Grad Schwartz Named CEO of Carlyle Group

He lost out to David Solomon at Goldman when Lloyd Blankfein retired. The Goldman powers that be seem to be having 2nd thoughts about that decision. Schwartz was probably the better choice.

How do you run out of eggs

Yup. Exactly this. Make people feel welcome and that you're well prepared for their visit. We're excited to see you. Build rapport and goodwill. Then see what happens.

If it wasn't obvious that the game has passed Schiano by..

This 100%. GS is a top-notch program manager and has succeeded here despite incompetence, bureaucratic messes, and varying levels of apathy. Not many can do that. And we are far past the Ash years now even though we're not winning the games we should.

    Harsh reality about NIL

As the article points out, it's not even Ohio State as the comparison. Can we even effectively compete with Illinois, Minnesota, and Maryland when it comes to NIL?

OT: Joint Base Dix, etc weapons testing - why NJ?

April, May, June always big booms. It's always been like that. Plus I'm sure advances in ordinance over the last 20 years has created explosives with more boom and compression.

OT: Joint Base Dix, etc weapons testing - why NJ?

Because Fort Dix was a remote combined arms training facility as recently 20 years ago, and was built before Jackson was nothing more than chicken farms and the headwaters of the Metecondck. The Pine Barrens were as remote as some those rural states your refer to once upon a time ago. It's on...

    Holloway’s next job…..

It won't spell the end of Rutgers. It just makes the job a bit tougher. Who knows, maybe the center of the basketball universe will resettle back in the NYC Metro area. Everyone building on everyone else's success.

    Holloway’s next job…..

You can stay home with a young family, make bank, rebuild SHU, take on and maybe replace Nova, help regenerate the BE, and have a guaranteed job at home for the next 20 or 30 years. Think about...he just built a national profile and it will just build from here. He can live in South Orange...

So back to an old topic..

Absolute BS. The last coach to build competitive teams was Gary Waters in the mid oughts. And those were old school NIT teams. Pike is building something good. Multiple NCAA invites, solid recruiting, BIG 10 competitiveness. I'm old. We sucked for a long time. My highlights were beating GW...

    Anyone else?

Lot's and lots of Bunnahabhain in front of a very late night fire after an amazing early dinner with great wine with friends. We have got to get over these humps and pull it out. One friend was quizzing me on the so-called "athletic deficit" tonight. Until we consistently beat ND, BC, and...

    NJ.com Schiano Article

Exactly. It's part of a much larger issue and unfortunately NJ.com uses the headline and framing to take another shot at Rutgers. As we all know, RU Athletics is much more budget conscious and restricted than almost all of our peers. The overall question raised by Pascrell in the article is...

    Watching Purdue

Schiano is the only one who could stop the bleeding. We're able to win few now. Hopefully next year we can end the 1-2 beat downs a year and settle in at .500. Then we can talk coaching.

    Langan

Yup. Three big plays crucial to the win and doing all the little stuff right. He sets the standard.
