    OT: Barcelona Advice

If you go to he Sagrada Familia, you may wish to contrast it with the Barcelona Cathedral, located in the Gothic Quarter a couple of blocks off La Rambla. It was built mostly in the 1300s and is in true gothic style.

OT: TCM 31 Days of Oscar Highlights Tonight

I saw the Bergman, Chaplin, and Fellini fests too. It confirmed my love of classic/auteur films. Great times, LionJim! Kern Building also showed some fine foreign films over my years there.

    Book(s) you are currently reading.

Volume 1 of Churchill's History of World War II; "The Gathering Storm" details the sad miscalculations leading to Volume 2, "Their Finest Hour". When asked about how history would portray him as a leader during WWII, he replied, "History will be kind to me for I intend to write it." He did, six...

Anyone ever read Cycles of Time by Roger Penrose?

Yes. If you want a real challenge, try Penrose's "The Road to Reality". 1000+ pages, some readable for the layman, others very dense even for physicists not familiar with his area of physics.

    So....what are everyone's plans for travel/vacation/experiences for 2026?.....

I assume that you are doing the Parthenon, the new Acropolis Museum, and the National Archeological Museum in Athens. If you are going to Crete, the Palace of Minos at Knossos is well worth it. Consider a day bus tour from Athens to the Theatre at Epidaurus, and then on to Mycenae to see the...

OT: AKB: Is Nuclear Fusion a Real Possibility?

It is not often that I get to respond to a question about a post I made almost four years ago (2/12/2022 on page 1 of this thread). Pons and Fleischmann fell prey to the lure of believing their incomplete and misleading data set. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathological_science FYI A...
