    We ... are ... so ... out ... of ... our ... league

It's stunning to see how much we have blown the momentum that we had developed as a program. All the investment in this program and, yet, in 2016 we're losing by the same margins that we would have in the 90s. Any half-decent coach could have built on what Greg started. Instead, we have...

ESPN's Mike Golic on Pat Hobbs' beer sip at Rutgers tailgate: 'So what?'

It's ridiculous that this is even a story. How irrational and puritanical must one be to get upset over this? On a related note, NJ has insane and archaic booze laws.

OT: Michigan wearing Jordan brand jersey epitomizes why I despise Michigan on a cellular level

I think it's fair to say that the Jordan logo is iconic and transcends sports. Seeing it on a football jersey takes a little getting used to, but I don't see a compelling reason that it should be limited only to basketball-related products. This is good business for Nike and U of M alike, and...

    OT: Cargo Shorts...

Higher-end dining these days has become very casual, so I don't doubt this at all. The days of jacket-required, or the like, are almost entirely over. Even NYC is pretty casual. Sure, there are a handful of places - e.g., Daniel or 11 Madison Park - where you would need to dress up. But...

    OT: Cargo Shorts...

Cargo shorts are useful, if not amazing-looking. I think the more streamlined ones are tolerable, whereas the ones with bulky pockets look pretty bad. On the left: OK. On the right: Ugly.

Slightly OT: How do we raise our USNWR ranking?

I've been told (by someone who is directly involved) that Rutgers has recently/finally made a commitment to getting more out-of-state (and foreign) students and increasing admissions standards. It seems there is now a real effort to become more prestigious. Let's see how this impacts the rankings.

OT: Post different types of beer you've tried, and how it was.

I was just there this weekend. Deschutes is opening an east coast brewery in Roanoke. I imagine that will help the distribution situation quite a bit.

    OT: Anybody drive/own a Tesla?

My uncle has one. I wouldn't necessarily want one, but they're very impressive cars. Acceleration, as noted, is outstanding. And the tech is above and beyond. That said, you'd want to see if you like the driving dynamics, lack of sound, etc. The experience is simply different than most...

President Obama @ RU Commencement (merged)

This is a great moment for our school. Can people put their predictable partisan quips aside for even a single day? Apparently not. And by the way: he was quite assertive in arguing against PC-related campus censorship and the like, specifically mentioning Secretary Rice.

    Ray Lucas on Anderson 360

Sure, millions of people (not just seniors) don't get addicted - but millions of others do. It's a big problem that isn't helpfully addressed by suggesting people have some sort of character flaw. Opioid abuse among seniors has been called a hidden epidemic. Keep in mind that autopsies are...

    OT - Tesla Model 3

Is the increased performance really substantial? I can live with .1 or .2 seconds more to 60 with a manual. But, iif the overall experience is enhanced w/ the dual clutch, that is intriguing. W/ older automatics, I always found them non-intuitive and I braked far more than I would like. I...

    OT - Tesla Model 3

Interesting comparison test. To me, one problem is that we've moved away from "driver's cars." Many new cars are objectively good cars, but there certainly seems to be more of an emphasis on luxury, comfort, efficiency, and power than on exciting driving dynamics. BMW used to really excel...
