He shot 44% from 3, is 6’5 and put up a solid ppg. I get they need more size but I thought this thread would be ecstatic. This is exactly what I wanted to see more of!
Shooters who also defend to Sha's liking cost premium $$. At some point he needs to take a chance on someone from a lower conference who may be a minus athlete but can shoot the crap out of the ball to add another layer to their offense.
In short - you're correct, and it limits the ceiling...
What exactly did you expect? They’re not getting a 20 ppg guy from a P4 conference. I think there has actually been an uptick in quality of guys they’re going after but the reality is you’re getting solid players and hoping for a needle mover to emerge with Shu’s NIL budget.
A low major school...
the answer is all of the above. Why come in lower than market on Clark? Seems like a silly mistake to me. I’d love to know what Deniusas wanted as a pay bump. The reality is more often than not we are probably used to garner better offers elsewhere.
This is the type of kid SHU needs to land...
Its such a crappy way of doing business for guys to keep asking for more once agreeing to terms. I respect Sha’s approach but it does seem to be a square peg in a round hole in the NIL era.
I absolutely love hearing that and really hope its the beginning of a trend, if the money is decent I don't see how they can't attract European talent given the proximity to NYC. For int'l kids I'd imagine that has some weight.
Not a small pool from Europe but after the success Illinois had you're still going to pay a premium for the better guys coming over. In fact, don't be surprised to see more schools straight up prioritize them because they understand team basketball and have better fundamentals than many AAU...
Any idea why he wasn’t thrilled with coming back and whats the deal with the surcharge - kids don’t wanna play for Sha or another issue?
Sha is tough to play for - then again so are guys like Hurley and Pitino. I’m guessing you can’t elaborate.
Well there’s some subtle clues being dropped that at least Clark didn’t want to play for Sha again. Not sure what’s being said on the Trove but in another thread it was said Clark wasn’t staying even if we did offer 2.5 mil. That tells me 1 of 2 things, maybe both. A school that can compete in...
Reading tea leaves from @SPK145 Clark doesn’t want to play for Sha again. Correct me if i’m reading that wrong but I’m seeing he doesn’t want to stay even if the money was correct.
why? That’s not how it works in basically any professional sports organization. Coaching and scouting are two entirely different things, it also allows the staff in season to primarily focus on scouting other teams and preparing the team.
