Read here yesterday he’s going to start lining up some visits next week, and it will be a while before we know anything. Best to just chill. Personally I think getting EJ and Richards back makes it less likely he would come to UK. So if he does that’s great, but if not I’m OK with that.

I want him.
I think we need him to up our chances to win it all.
I think Nick and EJ coming back diminishes our chances.
We are still better than Fla even if he goes there.
Still a chance for another to reclassify to help us inside.

Dude needs to get here!!! Can you imagine how much swag that would add to this team going into the fall workouts?!?! Might be as confident a group since 2015!

No last year team was the confident group and look what happened game 1. Brought them back to reality real quick

Im trying to understand why he does not follow Buzz, his coach...

But it would be a no brainer to pick UK because we are always in the running for a title with Coach Cal.

Apparently we have officially reached out. I guess Few wants to pair him with Tillie and possibly redshirt Petrusev or some other stud young bigs coming in. We will sell our recent track record with the bigs that we are putting into the NBA, i.e. Sabonis, Olynyk, Collins, and even JWIII had a decent rookie year with the Lakers plus Rui and Clarke about to be lottery picks. I still have to believe that Texas A&M would be the leader as of right now, right?

As of a few hours ago, Jeff Goodman reported Gonzaga officially put their name in the Kerry Blackshear sweepstakes.

Blackshear isn’t coming off the bench, and Cal won’t not start a junior Richards whose been very patient and loyal. As with RJH, it’s just bad timing unfortunately.

Disagree. Cal has shown many times that he will put the best players on the floor. UK signed MKG and Darius Miller came off the bench. Also, if Blackshear comes, EJ, Richards, and Blackshear will all get plenty of minutes. Sestina would be the only real "loser" as far as playing time goes imo.

@ UK It's earned not given. It's about the team, not individual play.
His proven track record has shown that he has “earned it”. Blackshear can call the shots, not the team. Schools are pursuing him, not the other way around. He’s going to go where he is guaranteed to start. And who would blame him?

Dude really just quoted Brad’s chest tat. Haha.

And really, the “player’s first” program isn’t about the individual? Okay.
Have no clue about Brad's chest tat,I'm not into that kind of thing...Dude
Player's is plural ,meaning more than one, which equals TEAM.

If that's what he's looking for he won't get any guarantees here.

I’m sorry but I have a hard time believing you just said Earned not Given and were unaware that’s exactly what BC’s chest tat says ... I digress.

And no, the player’s in player’s first absolutely is not plural, it’s all about the individual player. That’s exactly what player’s first means.

Why on earth would he not be given a guarantee? I mean, what more would he have to do? Believe me, Gonzaga, Tennessee, Texas A&M are all giving him “guarantees” that he will start. I suspect that Kentucky is too.

I disagree. Cal is going to play the kid that produces. If Nick isnt on Blackshears level, Kerry starts. Cal is always going to play the beat player. Not to say that he wouldnt get opportunities but Cal isnt going to play Nick simply because he is a junior.

And Kerry will start over Nick “Hands of Stone” Richards.
Richards has hands the size of a catcher’s mitt but can’t catch a cold.

Cal started MKG over a patient senior Darius Miller in 2012 and Dakari Johnson over a patient sophomore WCS in 2014.

I remember there were people who said neither of those things would happen back then either.

It's obvious Blackshear is truly exploring all his options. No one is a lock. Florida feels good about what they've told Blackshears but he is not a Florida lock by any means.

Keep in mind Cal already visited Blackshears. Interest was shown from Blackshear camp first. If he visits UK we will be hard to beat...and more than likely he is visiting. UK's situation is a big sell for Blackshears from competitive practice preparation, to a coach with a proven track record & NBA contacts galore, to maximum exposure...to being a national title favorite to boot. He is too good to worry about minutes & UK only has one true 5 man in Richards who is massively foul proned.

Florida selling minutes...but lets be honest: from a business standpoint its risky. Mike White has a ZERO track record for anything.

Man, BBN needs that second title under Calipari.

Buzz is an interesting guy. Great basketball coach, and his players would typically run through a wall for him. But he's a different breed. Mentioned it in a previous thread, but having covered him regularly when I worked in VA, he's someone you certainly have to get used to. He carries the persona of a blue collar guy, and he certainly came up through the ranks that way. But now that he's "made it" as someone that is coveted in the coaching world, there's an ego that is easily seen that doesn't match that blue collar upbringing. I'm sure Blackshear is used to Buzz's way, but I'd imagine you'd like to take advantage of something different instead of more of the same. I'm with you, I think UK would be the best option... I just have a feeling he ends up elsewhere (no inside knowledge). The visit to Arkansas threw me for a loop. Certainly hope I'm wrong, and he's a Wildcat next season.
