Like I have been saying for a month this kid is no media ***** and actually seems irritated to be recruited. Stewart said he had to back off him, but I read how McDaniels said it is cool to be recruited by Maxey and Whitney. If he was just staying home why draw it out like this when he clearly doesn't care for the media circus. It would make zero sense. I know some on here say he is UW all the way, but I don't by it unless we land some studs before he decides.
I know some that would tell you his recruitment was wrapped up in late February/Early March and he knows where he wants to go.

All I can say is thanks Rupp for the info. I will be just as happy if he picks UK in spite of the advance info. Kid still has his moment for those that supported him.

I hope you are 100% correct and you tell all the haters to eat it. But something tells me you won’t which will be all the better.

Have a funny feeling that after some big misses early, Cal is going to finish this year off with a bang. Moreso than last year even.
Much agreed. I was thinking earlier Wiseman with this team would be insane, but Cal is damned determined to put that in the rear view mirror.

So you’re saying there’s a good chance we land mcdaniels also? Daffy will be working overtime!

I'll be as happy as everyone else.. but I just don't know how an already deep roster can fit McDaniels.. assuming Juzang comea and EJ/Nick return. I don't get how this roster will work.

We'd have to platoon, right? Or have some form of rotations.

I hope this is true. My info is more general: I have a friend who coaches high school basketball in LA, happens to be Asian-American, and is a huge UCLA booster.

He may be prejudiced in favor of the kid because of his Asian heritage but he says people are really not understanding what a talent Juzang is. His brother, who is five inches shorter, plays for Harvard. My friend, who has watched him many times and was praying he'd go to UCLA, says, "he's not going to blow you away watching a highlight reel. But he's incredibly in control, has remarkable instincts, is a very smart player and is a clutch shooter." He thinks he'll be drafted in the first round some day.

My friend has a good track record -- All the way back to Tayshaun Prince he has been advising me on Southern California high school players, and he has always been on the money. He was also the first person I ever heard of to predict Jeremy Lin could play in the NBA. He says Johnny Juzang will eclipse Lin as the best Asian-American basketball player.
Absolutely love this kids game.

I hope rupp info is correct but I have heard the opposite on McDaniel’s. I have heard it’s been done for awhile to Washington. Even have heard his trainers already have their asssigned seats for next years home games. Guy I got it from not as connected to the west coast. But if ej and nick come back there is no room or need for McDaniel’s in my opinion. I know ej is trying to find a reason to stay in the draft just hope since it’s a really weak and top heavy draft some gm doesn’t take a chance on ej and draft him in the first round . Even think if he got a second round guarantee like Meeks did I think he stays in. After seeing Daniel Orton get drafted in the first round with knee trouble I will believe anything.

I my love my wife, dogs, truck, RR and HOB. We are all a part of what makes BBN so special. Now, lets focus on recruiting and the great kids that will represent UK and play for the greatest coach and University to ever exist. Go get us some more kids Coach that will represent the blue grass and BBN well like you always do each year.
Anything is possible. Someone from HOB reached out and said he heard the same. Tight lipped recruitment though I'm not saying anything is definite.
Congratulations Rupp's Runt on your prediction and information. I appreciate the info and respect your non aggressive replies to some on this board that gave you a hard time yesterday. Some people are just looking for a reason to attack posters when they bring info to the board. I hope this doesn't cause you to be hesitant about sharing information in the future. Most posters appreciated your info, Great Job.

Ya i never understood why people are so picky about their offseason news. There's honestly nothing else to talk about than this kinda stuff and if it's a recognizable poster i don't get the problem. Freaking Little Rick said it, give him a chance

That’s going to be amazing considering we got EJ, Hagans and Travis all late in the process last year. They may not have panned out as much as we would have liked but, at the time, all were considered huge gets.

If that's the case then Cal would not still be recruiting this kid. If your source knows about it being done so would Calipari. Not to mention if your staying home and it's done why not just commit and end the recruitment especially since Mcdaniels not big into the press.

How do you know cal is still recruiting him ? When’s the last trip they made out to see him. Imo cal knows cause he landed brooks , landed sestina and now going full tilt with blackshear. There’s your writing on the wall right there imo. I might be wrong but don’t think so

Hey Rupp, if we get McDaniels, does that mean we won't land Blackshear? I'd rather have Blackshear every day of the week.

Also, if we land McDaniels, does EJ stay in the draft? What about Nick?

I’ve never understood if it’s a done deal then why no commitment. I don’t doubt the information I just don’t understand.

I'm past McDaniels. Ride with what we got. Him being this indecisive and needing some level of touches/minutes means he might not be worth it for just one year. We need more guys like Herro and Maxey than McDaniels.

We also need to move away from this notion of freshman being better, being the answer. In terms of production, Mcdaniels might not give us that much more than EJ, a guy who many thought might be our best player last year.

Take a look at what's happening with Josh Rosen in the NFL. A guy who was a top10 pick last year.. who would be a top3 pick in THIS draft today.. but because he played at the next level (The NFL).. can't even garner a 2nd round pick in a trade. Simply because he became a "known" commodity and he wasn't Peyton Manning. After just ONE season.

Teams would rather take a stab at Kyler, which not only is debatable to from the start, but they'd have their franchise QB for 15 years. McDaniels is one year. And to go all in on him, sacrificing the production of Richards and EJ and the possibility of Blackshear.. is crazy to me.

If you're talking about Juzang, he's got to first go through the process of reclassifying to 2019, then he can commit. He is now doing just that. Give it time; it's a process. :sunglasses:

McDaniels would thrive under Cal. Bring them all, they all have aspirations of being OAD but are not. With the addition of juzang beING eminent that will bring the roster to
Hagans
Quickley
Maxey
Whitney*
Brooks
Sestina...Waiting on
EJ
NICK
Juzang
that's only nine players
Still have room for both
McDaniels
KB
*signing may 3rd.
That is a great roster...
These next 2 drafts are going to be HS free...
Recruiting will be different from that point on.
With reclassifications becoming more common, one has to think that more regulations will be enacted. Before we know it we will be starting 15yo...

I hope that Blackshear is THE top priority for Cal, with McDaniels as a backup. We really need experience to go with all this talent. Landing Blackshear is the key, IMO. Juzang is a luxury but KBJ is a necessity for a championship caliber team. Its possible to win it with EJ, Nick, and Sestina but i think landing KBJ is crucial. I guess Im only stating the obvious.

That's about how I feel. Blackshear, Juzang, McDaniels, RJ Hampton.

I really think after an addition or two more, this team will start seeing diminished returns. Only 200 minutes a game. And I'd prefer them to go to experienced guys, and guys who want to be here.

If you're worried about minutes and your production, or if you're worried about leaving home or what people might think of you .. then this isn't the spot for you.

That's why we think he took information that we already knew, plus information we already assumed, and started this thread. Otherwise, it makes no sense that he didn't start the thread before it was common knowledge. Apparently that kind of logic upsets people. That's fine. It's ultimately insignificant.

Man, not to beat a dead horse... but youre so arrogant and self righteous you literally think you speak for a large portion of the board. A significant percentage of the more popular threads have you demeaning and belittling folks. Whatever is causing you to be disappointed in your real life, keep that ish off the board. You're better than the trolls here, but not better than a single legitimate UK fan that posts on this forum.

Hagans/Quickley
Maxey/Allen
Whitney/Brooks/Juzang
Montgomery/Sestina
Blackshear/Richards

That's a legit title contender.
I’d be good with that. Two fifth year seniors, a junior, three sophomores, and 5 freshmen. Still lots of questions though. Do we get EJ and Nic back? Can Cal sign Juzang and Blackshear?

EJ staying in the draft will have nothing to do with who's getting added to the roster. He's either ready or he's not. Going to the draft because McDaniels is coming would be really stupid.

It does, but the other articles, tweets, etc from yesterday were pretty clear that Kentucky has the momentum and that his tweet announcing to reclassify tomorrow is logically good news for Kentucky.

Most of our guys feel the commitment will be soon, if not today. Several of us were saying as much in the other thread. Then this one got started.

That's why we think he took information that we already knew, plus information we already assumed, and started this thread.
