Possible bad news-UK Top PG Target Cooper possibly reclassing to 2019.

I really hope this isn't true, but it sounds like Cooper might make the move to 2019 which would all but eliminate us and probably mean he heads to current leader AUB. I really wanted this kid and it looks like Cal has made him a priority for PG in 2020. I hadn't heard a word about him reclassing until this. Really wanted this kid. Would suck! Looks like Cal is meeting with him today after AUB was in to see him yesterday.

We lost more than just an elite 8 game and a chance at a final four against them. I knew pearl would sell tf out of that win to Cooper. Been worried about something like this happening since.

Reclass is the new thing. So they are getting rid of some of the OAD by allowing kids to go straight from HS, but now Juniors are going to reclass so they can't get to the league faster. Something has to give. I thought I liked the rule, but it becomes rampant I don't know. Seems like it's NBA now and college BB is being weakened until one day it is just a shell of itself. I wonder if this is Pearl pushing him because he knows Cal was coming on hard for him and there's no room for him this year?

They can celebrate their elite 8 win, but Calipari blows any coach out of the water when it comes to PG development history.

This really sucks because we have what we want with a full good backcourt, but it will cause us to miss on Hampton and now Cooper if he relasses. When you look at the top 60 for 2020 there are only a few PG in the Top 10-20. I was really hoping Cooper would be the guy for us in 2020 because I think most are a big drop off after him if Hampton ends up in 2019.

I just feel like Pearl knew it was going to be a UK vs AUB showdown for this kid and he knows we don't have the room so he is talking the kid into moving classes. Seems odd otherwise because I have watched a lot on this kid and never a word about a reclass just about the upcoming season as a Senior. Snakey Pearl is up to something.

Think we will see Clarke and Kuminga reclassify to 2020 for Kentucky. Also would look for Keon Edwards to start getting major attention from Kentucky..

If he does this with an eye towards the 2020 NBA draft, he's making a mistake. Kid weighs like 140 soaking wet. The NBA is going to want to see some physical development before they draft him.

Knows he is Kentucky bound if he stays in 2020, some coaches look to use reclassification to get the upper hand on schools looking at a player. Cal has done it with several recruits over the years, using getting rich a year sooner as a way to secure their commitments..

Sell the hell out of 1 win to our 2 over them? That's lame. "Yeah, were so good, that if we play a team 3 times, there's a good chance we will won 1 of them. Dont you wanna be that badass?"

I suppose the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. But in a straight up choice, I would rather have Ashton Hagans as a sophomore than Sharife Cooper as a reclassified true freshman. I am willing to acknowledge there is a valid argument to be made on either side of that debate, but I believe Hagans will be a dominant player on both ends of the court next season.

The thing people aren’t understanding is these kids are reclassify back to their right class or right age. The Johnny kid turned 18 earlier this year. Hagans is 19 and will be 20 before the season ends if I’m not mistaken. Nick was old for his class as well

Yeah I could care less about this for 1 reason - there will be few kids who reclassify from 2021 and join the 2020 class and we land 1-2 of them. We land at least 1 reclassifier a year and I see that number growing if anything. You lose some like hampton and maybe this kid and you gain some like Hagans and Juzang . It works both ways. AU is not going to be very good with Harper gone and there stud big man gone to the NBA too. This might make them a little better but kid is not ready for college .

Harper ain't getting drafted. This is the first time a reclassification has even been mentioned by him. think it's way more speculation versus reality. He is going to do aau , city of palms etc. Bruce is trying to get him ready, but it can blow up on him too...harper again is not getting drafted. An undersized ball dominant point guard, exactly what Cooper is, I don't think Bruce will have the ability to keep both happy...okeke is gonna remain in draft and bryce ain't eligible another year.
If Cooper remains in 2020 then it will be an uphill battle still..
If he wants to bomb away from 3 and take 20+ shots...and remain in school til jr yr, go to auburn
If he is serious bout nba, wait get stronger and come next season

Oh, trust me I realize that. Going all the way back to 88 at St/ Helens grade school I went to school with Andy Pennick who got held back on purpose to get stronger for college. He ended up playing for Mich St., but I have seen this **** since I was a kid. What I don't get is kids like Zion Harmon get ruled ineligible but all these kids are allowed to fall back in school to get bigger and stronger?

I know we will get it figured out or Cal will anyway I just really liked this kid. He and Boston together would have been an amazing young backcourt. Yes, I know Boston is a Dook lean, but they are losing steam in my eyes. #1 class or not, I don't see it myself.

They won the one that mattered and they were already a preseason top 10 team. Calipari is the best at player development for one year, especially PG’s. But kids don’t care about that now. They see that they can go to the league from any school of their choosing and that’s good enough. Pearl definitely sold that win in the tourney. You can bet the farm on it.

Boston ain't a Duke lean . If anything people say it is the other way around . The only people who think Boston is going to Duke are the UK fans obsessed with Duke which is sad. And the chance this kid actually reclassifies is slim as it is . But if he did so be it . Cal always gets talent . I mean tell me if we get Juzang and either Mcdaniels or Blackshear ( which i think happens ) would you really trade classes with Duke? Hell no. The Duke envy is silly and doesn't even make sense UK puts more players in the NBA and wins more games and gets farther in the dance.

The only player Duke has I’d want is Carey!

F Dook! I'm not going off of idiots on here. I am going off what I have read and crystal ball predictions which are at 100% early on for him to go to Dook. I hope they are wrong because out of all the 2020 guys I have watched he is probably my favorite.

247 sports disagrees with ya. Every crystal ball pick on Boston is for Duke, unfortunately. They are in very good with a lot of the top 2020 guys, per reports, but were not on good with the 2019 guys. They are going to get a very good class - hopefully we do too.

I think Dook is in for a rough year. Leaning on mostly Freshman again, but the only one I see being an instant contributor is Carey. I think maybe some of the luster is wearing off. K has another bad year, this year I could see a Lehigh or Mercer type year and the pendulum is going to start swinging back to Cal and Uk.

Andy Penick won the state title in 1989, so if he was in grade school in 88 he must have gotten held way back.

Auburn was the favorite for Cooper far before that Elite Eight game.

Well, I was in grade school at St. Helens in 88 I think I can't remember what grade he was in. I was just guessing. I graduated Holy Cross in 91 so I guess I was an 8th grader in 87 and he was ahead of me so you're right. It's been a while I was just guessing without doing the math. He and his cousin Sean were both being held back I remember that but not sure what grade I was in or them when that happened. So maybe 85-86? Was just thinking back 30 years or so off the top of my head LOL. I think he was one grade ahead of me, but maybe 2.
