We barely have a lottery pick on this team. Gtfo here with the comparison.

Had Zion played at UK we would have easily won the title. Hope he chokes on his tears.

I told Gonzo the other day in another thread, Kentucky would of ran through this tournament with Zion and PJ Washington on the low block together and facing there defender up. You add in Herro, that team would of not been stopped..

Why? Uk was ranked higher in the preseason and had shooters and experience. They were billed as the complete team.

Have never seen a team with the amount of hype this Duke team has received. Duke just never screamed national champion material to me like 2012 Kentucky, 2009 North Carolina, 2001 Duke, 1996 Kentucky, did to me. I always thought about them like i did with the 2015 Kentucky team, good enough to reach a Final Four, but one major fatal flaw, that is extremely difficult to come over, shooting.. You gotta be able to make them, can do everything else to perfection. But you also gotta be able to make shots..

Remember when they use to say that Cal just rolls the ball out. Well, I think K might actually do this.

Funny to think about now, but when Duke put a beating on us to start the season, it really propelled all of this greatest team BS that we heard about Duke throughout the season.

As the season progressed, teams took advantage of Duke's weaknesses like poor outside shooting. Some opponents left Jones unguarded on the perimeter and dared him to shoot while slumping back in the lane to defend Zion and Barrett.

If Duke would of played every game like that, we would be talking about the greatest 40-0 team of all time in college. Most NBA teams have trouble scoring 118 points in 40 minutes. Duke just played the perfect 2K type game that night, Kentucky could not of played worse..

Seems that way, K used to run some of the best offensive sets you could ever see in basketball, last few years seems like his teams has just went into a dribble drive ISO type offense that just leads to stagnation and bad shot selection. Also his teams defensively, he used to be towards zones like Cal is, all his teams ran was straight man to man, would be good defensively. Now all he runs is a type of 2-3 zone, that he has picked up from coaching with Boihiem in the Olympics.. He teams has not improved over the course of the season now, for the last several years..

Barret & reddish are both overrated, especially as freshmen. I don’t think it’s easy to get a championship with freshman no matter how talented they are. This is an instance where I don’t think K deserves much flak.
Reddish is super talented. K just rolled the balls out and didn’t develop him at all.

Reddish was forced to play 3rd fiddle as RJ the ballhog chucked up shots and Zion rightfully got whatever was left.

He’s going to be good in the NBA. K just didn’t have control of his team and couldn’t control Barrett’s ego.

If he had come here he wouldn't've played 1/2 of the minutes that he ended up getting with the dookies. Foul trouble would've had his *** on the bench by the 2nd tv timeout of 80% of our games. That bull in a china shop style is hindered when you're not protected.

Eat a bag of dicks you POS.
At least you should be comforted knowing Cam will fail in the league and immediately be hired by espn as an announcer for puke’s games.
Set for life!!

I HATE that rat K as much as the next guy, but we of all fans should know the limits of the OAD model, no matter the talent. Think of it like this, take away 2 of T-Jones, Lamb, and Miller from the 2012 team. Is that team still winning it all? Doubtful. That's a lot like what this Duke team was. If Cam was actually the 3rd best freshman as predicted, then this would be a different story, but he probably wasn't even top 50.

Now if anyone should catch heat for underperforming, it should 100% be K for this year, but I never saw anything special in that team. They performed to their talent level as far as I'm concerned.

I said before the start of the season that there was no way Duke could win the title with 3 elite SF's and not much else.

As it turns out, they were better than I thought, but that prediction was still true. Cam Reddish was under utilized with Zion and RJ in his way. Duke was too heavy at SF/F and not enough at SG or Center. They saw diminishing returns on a lop-sided recruiting class.

In retrospect, you'd trade Cam Reddish for any 5* SG and it would make Duke better. That SG would stretch the floor with shooting and would be a great guard opposite Jones. Their play would open up the floor Zion and RJ..

Is giving hell to Duke and Coach K for getting all of the top players, along with 1 and 2 in the draft, was only still able to make it to the same round as Kentucky in the Elite Eight, who did not have any players ranked nearly as high. What are your thoughts on this?

Same as with Cal it says that you cannot win the title with inexperienced players. You need some veterans mixed in just like us in 2012.

Davis in the title game had a poor offensive showing. Lamb showed out though. But he had played in the FF previously along with Miller and Jones.

People are mad Hagans and Reid didn’t take us to the promise land. Can you imagine if we had Zion Barrett and reddish?

If he came I think the odds of Reid going to Duke go sky high but I think think we'd still win but maybe not easily because of the youth but him with PJ, Tyler, and Keldon would smack the taste out of mouths.

Reid as well and the strength, skill, ability, motor, and grit would be off the scale. Just lacking height but it wouldn't matter much.

Maybe because when Cal got the top two players ( Davis and Gilchrist ) he won it all. You had the top three and got bailed out in the UCF game.

I agree, coach K does not get enough heat for his overall performance in the tournament, from 2008 to 2017 he has 2 loses in the first round and 2 loses in the 2nd round.
The guy has 2 titles since Cal has been here....you would think that would make all of our resident Cal apologists shut up about Duke, but it don't.

yep two titles but 4 times put out by the second round, hell he has had just as much talent as Cal has had over the last 10 years.
