I don't see him playing Friday. It will take him a day or so to even walk right after having a cast on this long. Not trying to be negative, just realistic.

Dammit! I'm starting to get my hopes up again.

I don't know why I do it to myself. It's so much nicer to expect the worst and be surprised than to hope for the best and be disappointed.

But I just can't help myself.

I know the feeling, my friend. My own propensities -- precisely !

Did they ever pinpoint PJ’s injury? I’m usually in the loop but never heard/seen a replay against UT.

Positive news. Had it not come off by tomorrow at the latest, there'd be no chance he'd be ready by Friday given he'll need 2-3 days to even get on the court and test it out or work out "kinks". This gives PJ and the staff some time to evaluate and do any necessary rehab so that he's not just good to go Friday night, but good to go by at least 90% - not just because we need at least 90% of him, but because he can't personally risk a second, worse injury.

This. It appears its coming off on the earlier side telling us 1. he feels close to ready. 2. the healing process went quicker and/or 3. They are doing what they can to see if he can go for Friday.

In regards to #3, I don't think they try this if they don't believe it can help get him ready for Friday.

Thought of this too ski. Original target dates were Tues or Wed. Seems to be a positive that they are taking it off tomorrow.

I’m just getting around to reading what his Dad said Friday. Note the last part - can’t hurt himself worse, it’s just a matter of pain tolerance. Back in the dinosaur days of the 1970s and 80s, teams would routinely give players with injuries cortisone shots to mask the pain, to just numb the hurt. The downside was you can really hurt yourself further and not know it. So....if we have a case where further injury really isn’t possible, and we’re just managing pain...what is the harm in numbing the foot? I’m not a doctor and didn’t sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Here is the quote:

“PJ wants to play,” he said. “My job is to make sure he’s 100 percent healed first. Thank God it’s nothing broke and there’s no surgery needed. We opted to go with a cast because it won’t allow him to move it and is supposed to help him heal quicker. So it’s just about pain tolerance at this point.”

Washington told CBS on Thursday that his pain is a 10 out of 10. “He came back to win a national championship,” Paul Sr. said, “so I think not playing hurts more than the foot.”

This thread is a lil quiet. Figured there would be more of a buzz or is everyone just speechless and don’t know what to think?

Its nerve racking enough being a fan of a team in this tournament. Then add the side drama of PJ who has been out for 10 days and the uncertainty of his foot.
Tomorrow may be the day UK wins the title or loses it and people are in limbo.

I think he's going to play.Doubt if he plays a lot but having him in there would be a real boost for all the other guys.

Cal should tell the media that PJ will play all game, then let the officials call two early fouls on Washington, only to have Cal pull him out and say "Perfect, we were going to get two fouls no matter what, better to have them on PJ who I wasn't going to play anyways.."

And then he goes to Higgins after the game, says "But I got your two fouls right here" and hits him with that 1-2.

“He’ll get the cast off and move around, probably tomorrow sometime, and we’ll see,” Calipari said.

Does anyone else read this to mean they will temporarily remove the cast to see how he feels? It seems everyone thinks the cast is coming off because he's healed and ready to play, but this quote doesn't read that way to me.

Yes, its just to test the foot and the pain tolerance.

Pj is not playing guys . Sunday or if we make it final 4 at earliest if at all. Imo you heard it first. My guess is we have seen the last of pj. Hope I’m wrong. Just connecting the dots. I wouldn’t get my hopes up for though.

Anytime Cal has said “we’ll see” about this, it’s not good.
I think they go through the motions of taking off the cast etc to placate the fans but I don’t think he’ll play.
