Athletic, you will not have the advantage there. Waters is fancy, the rest of the team more gritty. Not the smartest team, decision making a little suspect. Athletic and big, big men are mobile. Team foot speed is good, they can get up and down with quickness.

Waters is a scorer who can mess you up if not guarded tightly. Lots of athleticism, will be a shock to you guys because there’s nobody in the b10 that’s even remotely comparable. They’re young so the moment may get to them, we’ll find out next week. Athletic

They had a teammate that got killed before the season started so they have a little extra drive this tourney. Shot horribly against Maryland. Talented post. Have to lock down waters or he can torch you. I wish we got Naz Reid for our team but hes probably paid.

Oh and they're really good at offensive basket interference.

They are probably the most talented team in the SEC. They are not a one trick pony. Tremont Waters is the guy who gets the headlines but Naz Reid is strong down low, and Bigby Williams is tremendous at blocking shots and offensive rebounding. Water is far from alone in the backcourt also. Skykar Mays and Javonte Smart can beat you as well. They're both capable of scoring 20. They will be tough to beat, especially if you underestimate them. They are tremendous down the stretch in close games, too. They should have lost about 4-5 more games in the SEC, but they always seem to find a way.

If you're looking for a weakness, they can lose focus and take bad shots for stretches of games. They are a bit undisciplined at times. They let teams hang around even when they are the better team. Teams have stolen games from them for this very reason, like Florida beating them twice. They shouldn't have lost to Florida.

Well they cheat and they're missing their head coach, that's the first thing you should know.

If MSU plays their A game they should move on. Even with Wade on the sidelines you guys will have the coaching advantage. The above poster is right in that MSU hasn't seen this level of athleticism this season. They can hang with anybody in that department.

I'm personally betting on you guys to beat Duke and make it to the Final Four, so don't let me down.

We played KU with Azibuke and Vick. That’s as athletic. Michigan is also pretty athletic.

I get your point though.

Waters vs Winston is a matchup of elite point guards right? Reid is lengthy and athletic.

What else do I need to know?
Both teams have one thing in common that may not be mentioned.....both teams like to blow leads at the end of games and allow dogs to back door cover. If one team gets ahead pretty good early 2H, then the other team will come back and make it interesting. It’s like clockwork.

Yeah, I'm not saying those teams aren't athletic. I'd still say LSU has them beat in that particular department. They're definitely not as skilled or disciplined as either pre-meltdown KU or Michigan. LSU couldn't comprehend the level of defense Michigan plays (or you guys, for that matter).

If MSU can punch them in the mouth with some big runs LSU might fall apart.

Well Ward and Tilman aren’t chopped liver but I get what you’re saying. We were 3rd in rebounding margin this year
Ky was top 10 rebounding all year.
LSU gave us fits on the Offensive boards.

Respectfully, it's not the same. Not athletically.
LSU can rival duke in pure athleticism. Don't have near the skill (though waters and reid are REALLY good), but you haven't seen kids like they have so far this year.

Do they have any bigs off the bench or is Reid the only guy?
Bigby-williams is the other starter. He's not a great scorer back to the basket but is very good at offensive rebounding and he is an excellent rim protector. They don't have a huge amount of scoring off the bench but they have bodies to throw at you. Emitt Williams and Darius Days are both 6-6 225 and provide minutes down low. Neither are big scorers, though. The best scorer of the bunch is Reid. The rest of their scoring comes from their guards, Waters, Mays, and Smart.

Yes, that is likely. I would guess it will be a possession by possession game from the 10 minute mark, on, of the 2nd half. That's the way both teams want to play.

MSU is the more disciplined team, so I expect that State will pull away in the second half. LSU is playing on borrowed time, IMO, so at some point I expect the pressure will get to them. If MSU can disrupt what Waters and Smart are doing effectively enough, they should have little trouble in securing a victory.

Unfortunately we all have to root for LSU because K has owned Izzo.
I personally like MSU, but I like Duke losing even more. Especially this year.

If it comes down to the wire don’t get your hopes up. They’ve won a number of big games with a few seconds left. They seem to play up or down to competition and that could be an Achilles heal.

I think everyone above has covered it. LSU/MSU should be a hell of a game to watch. I’ll be honest, haven’t watched a ton of MSU to have an accurate prediction. I can say LSU is one of those rare teams who has talent, and seems to have luck on their side at the end of the game.

Naz Reid is impressive. I don’t know his percentage in the year, but the big dude will step out and hit some threes as well. When he played us, that blew my mind.

Their athleticism is their most impressive feature. I haven’t watched much MSU, but the B10 doesn’t strike me as uber athletic like this. Y’all will have basketball skill, coaching and sheer grit on your side, but the SEC rolls some athletic freaks out there. LSU is the best collection of them with a couple guys who can get buckets.

Good luck!

Skler Mays is sneaky good and can get hot, you key on Waters and Mays will shoot and make threes from the corner and quietly go down to the other end. The kid has that blank look on his face regardless of the situation. Smart is pure speed, takes bad shots but just a race horse of a athlete, some would say “the best that Money can buy.” Reid is a beast but inconsistent and can vanish for games, you might get lucky. He hit 2-3 big three pointers in their comeback against us which helped spell our doom. Apparently if Izzo can play a zone you should win, they looked like they had never seen one yesterday.

LSU has great big men across the board. Waters can affect the game without scoring but capable of goin off for 30. MSU better block out or they will get killed on the boards. Watch out for how many offensive rebounds they get. They don’t shoot it great so if Izzo goes zone or switches defenses up they may fall in love with outside shots.

Yes but that’s playing in the big ten. The SEC is all about athletic teams a, tons of athletic big men. They hurt UK on the glass and very few teams can say that over the last ten years.

Azibuke is big but he’s not athletic. Vick is a wing that shoots not a rebounder. It was a way better Kansas team then I will give you that but overall KU was down this year. Even their best post is not athletic just big.

Is Izzo vs an interim coach the elephant in the room?

That’s the biggest thing to me. Izzo is the X factor. I’d take Izzo vs. just about any coach when it comes to game planning with the exception of K. For some reason he just doesn’t do well vs. Duke.
