Something feels off. Me thinks PJ is protecting his draft status and if this were December he would be playing.
There is zero chance that is happening. PJ wants to win so bad it ain't funny. He isn't protecting anything and there is nothing to protect it isn't a sprain. This is about pain and if you feel you won't be able to play Saturday if you went today then you sit out today as we don't need him for this game. Next game we could and sweet 16 we absolutely do .

It is quite insulting to suggest PJ would even think about doing this with something like this . Now if it was a fracture totally different story.

How was PJ ok yesterday, all tests came back negative, he wanted to play, Cal expected him to play, to today he is in a hard cast?

Doesn't make sense
Maybe they had a second, or a third or a fourth opinion from a doc. Shop until your find a doctor that says you need a hard cast for that little sprained foot. You can find a doctor to give any diagnosis. I guess this proves it.

No. You all need to realize that what UK and Cal say isn't always about the games. Sometimes it's about the player's future and it's purposefully deceptive.

It's kind of naive at this point to take everything they are saying about players on face value.

We still have enough talent to win tonight. Maybe not comfortably but still by double figures. On paper we should still be better than Wofford or Seton Hall without PJ. Yes, I know Wofford is better than most mid majors and that Seton Hall beat us with PJ, but we have improved a lot from that game and I think we get a win on Saturday too. It might be a lot closer than if we had a healthy PJ on the court.

Now, beyond this weekend may be a different story. Without PJ I really don't like our chances against potentially Houston and especially North Carolina. It is what it is though and someone is just going to have to step up and play their best if we want to advance beyond next weekends games.

It could always be a play for next weekend. Put him in a cast, sit him for the first weekend, leave it open ended forcing the opponents to prepare a fractured gameplan, and then let him play. No sources or even reason to assume this. Just a thought to throw out there.

I don’t believe this is serious. I believe the Washington’s are making a business decision and he can play.

You’re terrible.

Are you negative 100 percent of the time in all aspects of your life or just when it comes to UK basketball?

You’re hurling around some strong accusations with absolutely no proof.

You don't get put in a hard cast for a couple of days. Don't see him playing this weekend either (if ever again).

If not, I don't think UK can beat Wofford or Seton Hall without him.
We can beat Wofford. SH would be a challenge. That said I think SH wins tonight.

Well, I have to be honest - I have a hard time seeing P.J. playing Saturday considering we win tonight (which we should). Hard cast? Something just doesn’t sound promising about that. I would say trust Cal and UK, but really, what are they going to say? They have never been forthcoming with injury news. I will just hope we can win this weekend without PJ, then pray he’s good for next week. But, hearing hard cast, I have my doubts. That’s unfortunate.

Actually very common now especially in athletics its precautionary with a sprain if it was broke it would be on longer

Maybe this opinion was a second opinion and PJ was advised not to play him this weekend and see how it feels next week.

A boot is used to protect, not completely immobilize.

A boot or cast immobilize but a cast is padded and fitted correctly to the individual. A boot is not as customizable as a cast. Using a cast does not mean it is more serious than just using a boot.

P.S. Just quoted you because you are a good poster, not concerning info.

I see this similar to holding out Travis when he was able to play against Florida and in the SEC tourney first game. Cal, like most of us, felt confident we would win without him anyway. No way that we lose to Abilene with or without P.J. Now the next game could be a bit more dicey and close. However, if Cal thinks we can win without him he should hold him out, win both games, and then play him the end of next week.

No I doubt that but this protecting his NBA stock is even more silly. It is what it is - a pain issue . PJ is obviously in too much pain today to mess around and play when we don't need him which could hurt his chances when we actually do. Doesn't mean he plays Saturday I agree but I wouldn't be too concerned about games next week. But it does mean the chances of having a tough game Saturday go up drastically. Nothing to freak out about but for sure annoying.

You've been gleeful ever since you stated that you thought PJ would be out.

I'm shocked that the mods didn't ban you. They took down your thread, but let you keep your posting rights.
I am not gleeful at PJ being out, I am gleeful about the morons like yourself and @irishcat1965 being exposed for the morons that you are. You all get all defensive and upset when someone post something they heard first hand that you all disagree with. Then you start demanding they be banned and labeling them trolls. It's pathetic and juvenille. What I heard was good info and turns out was spot on. Some of you just can't accept that others have better insight into the program than you.

A hard cast would only be put on if this was considered a severe sprain. Anything less than severe can easily be immobilized with a boot.

I’m sorry, but this is really bad news.
Or a mild sprain ur trying to help along a little faster because of a game a couple days later

Beyond unfortumate. But lets be honest. We have no clue if he will play or when...everyone guessing is simply throwing **** out there

He may play this weekend or never again at UK. Who knows.

But I know this. We are getting through our first 2 games with or without PJ

But I pray he is at least ready by game 3

It's very confusing. I got an update from my source an hour before Cal's press conference yesterday still saying he was done. After I saw Cal's presser, I started to feel better and think that the guy giving me the info was wrong. After I woke up this morning, I saw a thread where Cal supposedly said (I didn't see an actual quote) that PJ is good to go and felt really good after seeing that.

I really don't understand Cal's optimism if PJ can't play. Just a weird situation
PJ isn't done for the year UNLESS we lose today or Saturday if he can't go. Not sure how we put him in a cast for precautionary reasons equals that unless we can't go Saturday and we lose . Then well the whole team is done.

Something isn't gelling in Cal's narrative.

If it's gamesmanship, it's pretty terrible gamesmanship.

Looks like Reid might have to play like Superman this weekend on the low block.

We still have the advantage over our opponents this weekend, but if PJ's done for the year, I don't get Cal's optimism yesterday.
Protecting the sprain to the utmost. We may have to get to the S16 without him but I feel he will play next weekend if we make it.

Cal wouldnt BS BBN he is not that type of guy. No fracture so everyone chill.

I’ll put it this way, he was put in a cast yesterday I’d put a fair amount of money on him not playing on Saturday. Beyond that is anyone’s guess. I hope we have him for the Sweet 16 if we get there.

Yesterday's Cal math: No fracture + second medical opinion confirmation = "we expect him to play."

Today's Cal math: No fracture + second medical opinion confirmation = hard cast and "PJ won't play tonight."

Cal changed the math formula mid-lecture.

Exactly. Confirmed it was a sprain like we believed. Yet after expecting him to play now make decision not to play. Makes little sense.

I agree that the idea is pretty far fetched. Just imagining out loud. I agree that there is no reason at this point for everyone to freak out. I also, though, realize that I'm on RR. So....

But it is up to him ( as long as Doctor's clear him) Cal has always said that . This is 100% a pain thing ( since it is a sprain only) . If he feels play today would put him in too much pain to play Saturday or going forward you don't risk it .

Nah, you were insinuating that you'd still be correct if Washington didn't play today.

You offered no sources.

You offered no details.

Just a vague post that was backed up with lines that insinuated you could still be proven right if PJ wasn't good to go.

The mods had no faith in your thread either as they took it down.

Says a lot of what they thought of your tone.

Did I provide you enough information?

Not particularly but no reason to go back and forth on it. It seems very hard to believe, but it does sound like it was a couple decades ago so who knows.

We can win without him tonight as long as we guard the three. ACU doesn't have a starter over 6'8" so we should have some matchup advantages in the paint. Saturday will be a bit more difficult.

You are 100% correct that a hard cast means very little when you have doctors who travel everywhere with the team ( and can take it off and put another one on at any time ) BUT even I think the chances he plays Saturday are less then 50% . Now I think the chances he plays in the sweet 16 if we survive Saturday are in the 70-80% though . That's how I see it. People are freaking over the hard cast part for no reason. I had to wear a hard cast on my hand for 4 days to mobilize my thumb in HS for football one time so it very possible to wear one for a few days and take it off. So that is no reason to freak.
