We are winning the title this year.

There isn't a dominant team this year. Most years there isn't. This year there is a group of about 10 teams that could win it if they get some breaks. We are in that group. Duke beat us, Gonzaga beat them, UT beat Gonzaga, UNC beat Duke, we beat UNC, and we played UT today down to the wire in a game that could have gone either way. Let's see how this thing goes. We have a chance.

And if we don’t, I’ll take the all the heat. Some of our best team lost in the SEC tourney before making a deep run.

Good luck with your prediction.
You must know the officials who will be officiating our games.
Now tell us the truth, how much did you pay those officials?:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You better turn on the AC for all the heat coming your way.
We aren’t consistent enough to beat tournament quality teams 6 games in a row.

Just because a team is in the tournament don’t make them quality. I think it’s More like 3 or 4 in a row at worst

We lost the chance to win a championship this year when Zion signed with Duke. If we got Zion we might have gone 40-0 and would have almost for sure won the National Championship. Had Zion gone to Clemson we would have been in the running with about 5 other teams with a legit shot to win the championship but when Zion went to Duke it was curtains for everyone. I do not see anyone beating Duke in the NCAA tournament.

We have enough talent and the coaching is proven. All we have to do is do it, get a fair whistle and have some luck along the way.

A lot of you are way undervaluing teams like Tennessee, and way overvaluing ACC teams because espn tells you to do so. THERE is No one in the ACC who can impose their physical will on another team like Tennessee. No one! (if you think otherwise, name them) Kentucky has as much a shot as anyone. Bring on any ACC team!

Truth be told, it all depends on the brackets and how they fall out from the committee and through the first weekend. Last year when our bracket opened up like a dream, I thought it would at least be the year we got to another FF, but then the debacle with K-State happened, and poof, we were done.

My hopes are that the first three games are "relatively" easy (on paper, and actual results), the fourth game quite a bit tougher, and the last two the toughest. What we don't need is another year where we get the gauntlet thrown at us and we have to pull off miracles against ridiculous competition (the 8-seed year where we were facing unbelievable teams, but still managed to beat most of them - one being UL).

Tomorrow we find out. I know everyone wanted that 1 seed, but a 2 seed isn't something to complain about. And in the west with Gonzaga - that would be icing on the cake.

I love how PJ had a meeting with the players after the loss and told them to focus on the big tourney and that nothing was over. Shows the leadership we are going to need. PJ told them to keep their heads up and they would get it fixed in practice. Media said PJ wasn't smiling but wasn't gloomy, but looked determined to get it done in the next tourney. I still think this team is special and can be as good and Fox and Co.. Hopefully this year we just don't get screwed over on our way to the FF.

We just do not have the Elite PG that Cal has to have with his style of play to win it all (IMO). We might make the Elite 8 at best and not really sure we get that far based on the match ups the CATS will get.

Call me crazy, but I don’t think Calipari will win another one while he’s here, and it’s not due to his coaching or recruiting, but after today I’m firmly convinced that the NCAA just will not allow it to happen.

I agree.
NCAA is not what it used to be. It has turned into a vicious business since the current commissioner took over.

Duke is winning it. I've already accepted it. There's gonna be an epic slurpfest from the NCAA and ESPN about how great Zion and Coach K are and how Coach K fully "adapted" to the 1 and done model and he's doing it better than Calipari.

Oh, and just wait till later today to see the cakewalk the NCAA is going to gift wrap Duke to the Final 4.

Hmm. So we can’t beat Tennessee in Nashville in front of basically a home crowd but we are gonna win a Natty?? This team doesn’t have the will to win like Tenn, Duke, etc.

We gave up, Tennessee kept fighting. That’s how you advance in the tourney. The lack of killer instinct also worries me. I love this team. Good group of kids. I really hope I’m wrong but it’s looking like sweet 16 is the ceiling.

This ^^^^^. We never look comfortable at end of games inbounding the ball.
Yes I agree, Hagans has trouble getting the ball in bounds. We should let Tyler throw it in.

I’m hoping this lights a fire under their *** but they were curb stomped at Tenn by 30 points and we still didn’t play defense or want to win like Tennessee did. Tenn was in our face denying most shots. Very embarrassing.

Clever.

Btw. Did you watch the last 3min of the UT game?

I’ll hang up a listen.

Yes. We lost to a really good & really physical team, who were #1 for a long time for a very good reason. We lost Reid, and lost our composure. It happens. They also beat Gonzaga this year......So I guess Mark Few can't coach either, right?

Some folks just can't admit UT is a really, really good team. They have the 2-time SEC POY in Grant Williams, very good player in AS, very good PG in Bone, best 6th man in the SEC in Bowden. They are a very good team.
They were #1 for several weeks. Beat Gonzaga. Likely will win the SECT, and will likely be a #1 seen in the NCAAT. They ain't chopped liver.

I’m not sayin this team can win it all, but I’m sayin they have a shot. U can’t dismiss the intangibles and there’s ALOT of them n b-ball games...and matchups...there just is. The best team doesn’t always win and the long shot is always n play if they play hard...the loss today sucked but what if it seeds us better? I mean, there r tons of variables...can we at least see the brackets b4 we start talkin about us not havin IT...did UConn have IT when they beat us? No...lol geez...**** happens guys. Let’s watch it and then ***** and moan at least lol
No team in the country is unbeatable. It now becomes a 6 game season. There are probable six teams that can win it all and we are one. That's about all we can ask for.

Well, we were 16-2 at one point this year before losing RT. Wins in that stretch over UNC, Kansas, Louisville, and UT.

A L at Bama in the first true road game for over half of our team

A L to a top 10 LSU....and we all know how that game ended.

The first 3 games should be wins. So realistically it’s “can you win 3 straight 50/50 games?”

Championships aren’t easy. Rarely do you have a team that’s head and shoulders above everyone, and even those teams are going to have to win 2 50/50 games in the F4 and title.

This is like 2011 or 2014 where every game after the first weekend is going to be a hard fought game that we are capable of winning or losing. But we ARE one of the teams capable of winning a title.

Yesterday’s game was a good example, that was a game played at a very high level. UT played one of their most efficient games all year and they needed every bit of it (and some calls) to overcome an 8 point deficit w 3 min left. Perfect storms happen. We will have a couple games like thatbin the tournament and it’ll come down to which way the ball bounces in the final minutes.

I hope you’re right. Just don’t think we have the consistent guard play we need to make it to the championship.

Depends on seeding. We know the committee does Cal teams zero favors. I’d say this is a sweet 16 team with the level of talent across the board this year. Anything can happen though. I’d be stoked with elite 8.

THIS team has all the pieces needed except experience. They have been getting that in bushels lately. Just give us decent referees and we can beat anyone in the field.

So you did watch? Must be blind. Wasn’t Cals best job down the stretch.
