IMO , the greatest UK game in my lifetime was the 1998 win over duk in the tourney. Would love another shot at them in a similar situation this year.
Yea Richards really hurts 19’s overall bb iq and I was going to point that out but decided against it because I didn’t want to single him out. But then you mentioned it [laughing], he can’t catch a break. That goes without saying, but I still see Richards as a sophomore doing things that will drive a coach crazy. Yes, the 1998 team was way more fundamentally sound due to the experience level.
I didn't want to say anything at first as well but he drives me nuts when he gets a rebound then either loses it or throws it away. Therefore, you have been vindicated. :smiley:Yea Richards really hurts 19’s overall bb iq and I was going to point that out but decided against it because I didn’t want to single him out. But when you watch this team, there really isnt any great talent to overcome the experience...All the folks talking about experience should realize talent trumps experience more often than not. I just see a lot of similarities between the two teams. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking that this team could have that magical run like the 98 bunch did.
Heshimu in my book will always be one of the most underrated players we’ve ever had at UK.I still think the elite 8 comeback on Puke happened because Tubby pulled the Nazr and Jam center combo and went small. Turner,Shep,Edwards, Evans and Padgett played during most of the comeback. With a key 3 mixed in by Cam Mills.
That and Turner taking it to ''What's he doing to Wojo" every play down the court. And almighty K running out of timeouts.
Tubby flat out coached saint K that day.
But as for 98 and this season I see no comparisons.
