Granted Garland was a blow....but they still have Shittu along with some other talented kids. It si hard to believe they couldn't have eeked out 1 win vs. UGA, USC, Mizz, Arkansas, Texas AM, etc... Not a good look for Bryce Drew at all.And their current freshmen class was the highest ranked recruiting class in their history. Shows what can happen when your elite, future NBA lottery pick, PG goes down with an injury.

They were horrible when I went to the UK game. After their close loss to UT they tanked it. They have a new AD. Word is Drew and the women’s coach will get another yearGranted Garland was a blow....but they still have Shittu along with some other talented kids. Even losing Garland, they shouldn’t be this bad. To have zero wins in the conference is atrociously bad.And their current freshmen class was the highest ranked recruiting class in their history. Shows what can happen when your elite, future NBA lottery pick, PG goes down with an injury.

According to this page Vandy has never had a season where they lost every conference game they played.
Will not win a regular season game in the SEC and probably not one in the tournament either. I wonder if that has ever happened to them before.
I watched a bit of that Arkansas game last night. Vanderbilt has quit. They are really going to have to evaluate their coach. What has happened there is really inexcusable. There are bad seasons and then there is what is happening at Vanderbilt.
No . Garland doesn't make them a good team. One really good player doesn't make what a 8-9 win team into a 20 win team. IMO with Garland they maybe win 4-6 SEC games sure but they would still suck . And they are talented but they just can't play for whatever reason. Shittu went to the wrong school . Not saying he should of gone to UK but anywhere but Vandy. And their current freshmen class was the highest ranked recruiting class in their history. I agree they might lose by 110 . [winking]Going to shock the world Saturday.
I think that's a fair assessment. I will say, there is no reason they shouldn't have won a game in the conference. Losing their point guard was huge, but there is still enough talent there to win some games. And they came oh so close in several games. It's a combination of a lot of things. A perfect storm.
1. They lost a lot of experience from a bad team last season
2. They are a young team. Majority of their roster is underclassmen
3. Lose your best, once in an era program changing player, who you built your entire roster around.
4. I think their SEC SOS was the toughest in the conference.
5. Close heartbreaking losses to go along with losing their best player
It was just a snowball going downhill....I think Drew is a good coach...but he's gotta figure it out pretty quick or he will be gone.
Anchor down! You're going nowhere but to the bottom. Anyone want Stallings back? I hear he's available. Will not win a regular season game in the SEC and probably not one in the tournament either. I wonder if that has ever happened to them before.
You have to wonder why some high rated kids toss their lot with a very unproven coach and school....he may never re-appear on draft boards.I'd love to compare what Shittu was told by Drew last year with the reality he experienced. By the way, he's vanished from even the second round in mock drafts I've looked at. Maybe that was inevitable wherever he played, but I remember back in October and early November is was being talked about as a guy who could make the jump after one year.
Including me.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:Going to shock the world Saturday.
They had Eddie Fogler for a while and he had one outstanding season. Stallings had some good seasons at Vandy and had more success than just about anyone else. Roy Skinner had some very good seasons as well. While really only a "decent" program overall it's hard to believe that they're this bad.Thanks. I was surprised that Stallings was there for 16 years. I knew Skinner was around 15 years.
Let the "Pitino to Vandy" rumors start. If Vandy fires Drew (don't see it this season but if they do), do they bring back Stallings?
Thanks. A couple of posters had ask that question and I kept scrolling down thinking surely someone’s answered it. I know 65 years is a long time. I’m stll 3 years short of it.Looking at history, the last SEC team to go winless was Georgia Tech back in 1953-54.
