I was at Rupp Arena last night and the Blue Hairs that this board criticizes cheered the Wildcats to victory over Arkansas. They were up cheering extremely loud the entire second half. This is opposed to all these critics on here that sit home but criticizes the atmosphere at Rupp.

It's not a question Rupp as a whole is loud and cheering for big games and big moments like during the comeback last night. It's the other times. IDK why you picked this topic to try and call people out on, but it's the wrong one.

How is that different from any other team/school? Have you ever been to another school's arena? No crowd is loud and crazy the entire time, especially at 9:00 on a Tuesday night against a garbage team.

Duke has a bunch of foreign kids waiving hands the whole game so that’s what everyone should do.

No thanks.

Those Duke students haven’t got the first clue as to why they even do it. It’s mainly students from the other side of the world. Just look at it.

Kentucky is a genuine NBA experience and that’s how the fans roll. It’s not manufactured. It’s not foreigners pretending to care. It’s a real professional crowd and you will excite them or they won’t care.

The end.

Except that's simply not true, not even at Duke. There are plenty of weekday games against crap teams where there are empty seats in Cameron and when the crowd is quiet.

A couple close ups I saw (Not all the Blue Hairs) (This was at a time when Rupp should have been the loudest)

I saw a couple ladies giving it the Ole

I also saw a couple "men" with their arms folded resting on their bellies at the same time...

This was a couple different TV shots. I can see where the disconnect is at with the wild cheering and the content to have arrived or maintain. jmuo

I remember back in around 2008 when coach K blasted the students for not showing up enough. I went to Cameron around 10 years ago and what do you know, empty seats all over the baselines by the goals. When I watched the game at home later that week, the cameras completely manipulated the stands. It looked full.

The crowd was great last night BUT they do deserve the criticism sometimes. The LSU game it seemed it took them 30 minutes to realize we were playing one of the 8-12 best teams in the country. IMO that effected the game big time. Just like last tonight IMO if that game is at Arky we lose by 10 as the crowd and Herro/KJ's play early in the 2nd half really changed the game as they feed off the crowd and the crowd feed off them.

I was in the lower bowl for the LSU game. Crowd seemed to be pretty damn good not sure what you’re talking about.

Totally unfair and uncalled for post. You’re talking about a 9:00 pm game on a worknight / school night that we should have won easily. I went to the Auburn game and the fans were great. All of them... young and old. Plus not everyone can afford tickets to every game. You are way off base here with a number of things. GBB.

That right there is exactly what makes Rupp's lower level the worst.

Who gives a **** if we're supposed to win. Get the hell up and cheer. Make the place hostile to play in at all times, not just when a top 25 team comes to play.

The crowd didn't really get going last night until the second half when the team started to rally. The players feed off that. Instead of waiting till the rally has already started, how about we start the damn rally.

I would say in Rupp the crowd always gets behind the team in games that are close, but when the cats are up big the crowd tends to sit and watch. But when the game is on the line, I would take Rupp and 23,000 over Cameron and it's 9,000.

Because of exactly what I said. Get mad all you want but the fact is the game was late, during the week, prices prohibit a lot of people from going to EVERY game, and it figured to be a blowout. YOU’RE RIGHT that it would be great if Rupp would be jam packed with high energy screaming fans at every home game but that isn’t the case. Never has been, never will be. Rupp’s an awesome venue when the game warrants the place to go nuts but games like last night pose issues that some fans can’t overcome. That doesn’t make them bad fans.

If I could roll this post up and smoke it, I would. That’s how much I liked it

It’s either pay more money that I don’t have now to get lower level season tickets, or hope I one day have survived enough time to become a blue hair. At that age I imagine it takes a lot of energy to walk up and down the steps for the bathroom, popcorn, hot dogs, ice cream, AND cheering for the team

It’s pretty easy to sound loud in a gym the size of Michaels Jordan’s personal workout space.

Duke students at the game don’t have a clue about the basketball game. It’s an event to them. Something to do and feel cool because everyone is going

Zion went down and the biggest fear the Duke students had was if they were going to continue their choreographed cheers and if they would get them all in

They still pass out cheer sheets at Cameron for every game so the nerds know what to yell in English.
