It was a god-awful call and Williams is a notorious flopper, but I don't think there was necessarily any deception. As I remember it, the call seemed to be about the hard/awkward fall Williams took afterwards, which had nothing to do with the "foul" that was called. Not really a foul (if anything, could have been on him), and just a bad fall because he was elevated and off balance.

That will be Barnes entire defensive strategy. Williams has the tools to be a good big, he is just weak and looks like a big tool.

PJ owned him last year before cramping up, he'll do it again.

Agee11, did you work for KDOT?

A man with Williams bulk should never flop. I wonder if Zion at Duke has flopped any this season.

Cats are going to have to beat the Vols themselves. All the whining on here about that call is ridiculous.

That call was horrendous and most likely saved Tennessee from losing the game. Why would discussion on here about it be ridiculous?

I saw a flop but, to be fair, a number of other talking heads (i know i know, fwiw...) stated that it was the right call by the letter of the law. I remember on a podcast Parrish and Norlander agreed that its a dumb rule but that a good case can be made for it technically being the right call. I don't see it but some seemed to.
I think

Williams literally launched himself off both feet. The fall was entirely his own doing. The Vandy player did absolutely nothing to cause that fall. If there is even a common foul it was on GW.

We've seen a completely new PJ the past month or so.

This isn't to say he's gonna match Grant, but it wouldn't surprise me if he puts up much better numbers than those three games.
I agree completely and said I expect it in these matchups. But I never understood why they chalk up one good half last year as him “holding his own” against grant.

I went back and watched and yeah, you're right. The only way for him to go up that high and fall like that was by launching himself.

Interesting how he just happened to think of that in the heat of the moment. Be on the lookout for shenanigans like this if UK has them down late.

It can also be ridiculous to whine about others' so-called whining.

That call was a pretty big deal; UT would have lost the game without the gifted 4-point possession, and the outcome of the game has an impact. It plays into seeding for the conference and NCAA tournament, for example.

I agree 100% with everything you just said. UK and UT most likely will be fighting each other for a high seed in the NCAA tourney so one game could end up being the difference. That’s something the trolls and ignorant haters on here (which there are many) always try to downplay. When UK is the beneficiary of such an egregious call to win a game I’m sure there will be no shortage of threads on here about it. But with our history of controversial calls at least under Cal, I’m not holding my breath waiting for that to happen.
