-Last year I *needed* sports, specifically Kentucky sports, to be good. Strange as it might sound, I wanted it to help with the grieving process. And it didn't. This year's early-November trifecta of suck(BB Duke L, FB UGA-UT L's) just kinda drained me, and I took some time off from being really invested in Kentucky sports because I didn't like how it was affecting me.

Then on my daughter's last day of school before Christmas Break, I was the volunteer "Dad of the Day" in a program they have there(dads, you absolutely should do this if your kid's school has a similar program). My daughter's classmate just underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor(haven't heard whether it's benign or malignant), and hasn't returned to school. My kid organized a class gift drive for her, so all the kids brought stuff. The understanding was that the teacher would deliver the gifts that afternoon, but instead, she asked my daughter and I to do it.

We headed there after school and knocked at the door, just expecting to leave the bag of gifts with whoever answered the door. But we were actually invited in to see her. She was sitting on the couch in a darkened living room, head still bandaged, responding to us but clearly showing the effects of recovery and medication. We only spent about two minutes in there, but I remember thinking the rest of the day about what that family was going through, and how stupid it was that my mood could be so adversely affected by things that aren't all that important in the big picture.

The UNC game was the first game I've watched all year, and the Penn State game was the first FB game I'd watched since October. Both of those(and the UL game) would have been satisfying results regardless, but in light of my recent perspective adjustment, they were even moreso.

We all completely *get* this, I'm not saying anything new. But it's just nice to be reminded every once in a while.

Also...

-Glad to finally see Rax wake up to how awful ZBB is.
-Anth knows nothing about Southern Baptists and Santa, so he needs to keep my denomination out of his mouf.
-My kid's allergies mean that adopting a dog is very, very difficult. So we're getting a puppy on Friday. Kids are on cloud nine. So am I(secretly).

Happy New Year.

Show up for what's up. Rack me.

How about Forde’s “instant classic” tweet? Any other national sports guys consistently go out of their to **** on a certain programs like that? I mean he ended up looking like a total fool but it just amazes me he risks his own rep like that just to irk us. Such a weirdo.

Sort of feel like a 1200 pound animal with razor blades coming out of his head may need a bit more restraint than a couple of Farmhouse guys and a "pen" made of vinyl Sugar Bowl banners.
This seems important too.
The designation "bull" was applied because of the dog's use in the sport of bull baiting. This entailed the setting of dogs (after placing wagers on each dog) onto a tethered bull. The dog that grabbed the bull by the nose and pinned it to the ground would be the victor. It was common for a bull to maim or kill several dogs at such an event, either by goring, tossing, or trampling. Over the centuries, dogs used for bull-baiting developed the stocky bodies and massive heads and jaws that typify the breed as well as a ferocious and savage temperament.

How do seemingly normal and functioning adults continually fall for that ****?

^ it's seriously unreal.

Computers, and especially Facebook, have a way of making otherwise intelligent people into complete idiots. I've seen these types of posts by so many people who I (used to) think highly of I lost track. Obviously, the older they are, the more prevalent it is.

It's impossible to view these people the same ever again, unfortunately.

Shorts:

- That’s a wrap on 2018- bought a house, remodeled said house, got married, saw the best UK football team of my life. Outstanding year.

- Just a great effort from UK football. Props. Never thought I’d see 10 wins here, especially built on defense and special teams. wtf? Especially satisfying sticking it up Franklin’s &$$.

- What do people do this time of year without college basketball?

- Speaking of which, HUGE January for Big Blue. Let’s keep getting better day after day.

- Normally I’d root against Richie Rich, aka Bama Fan, but piss on Clemson and Coach Jesusfreak.

- No hangover lol yeah right, Willy. get pumped and get lost

- CBB writers openly rooting for Virginia. [sick] I know, you F’ing nerds- all regular fans hate their style of play and giggle at their postseason woahs so you have to doubledown on how great they are. You, Bennett and all the wahoos can GF.

I consider myself a reasonably intelligent person, yet I fully acknowledge that I really don't know much about anything. It's the confidence these people have that is so terrifying. They can't fathom being wrong or misinformed.

Instead of learning something new and being like "wow, I didn't know that, let me change my perspective accordingly to account for this new information" it's "F*ck you, I'm not wrong. Oh, you're going to provide me with information? Well, sorry, I'm not listening, and I'm just going to scream illogical nonsense as loud as I can, go find a small corner of the internet that agrees with me, and talk with them about how stupid you are."

Nobody is more sure or confident in themselves than a moron.

Still not used to actually being in a top basketball conference this year: we will have top ten, nationally televised, heavily promoted conference games. We will actually have the ability to move up significantly in seeding with wins, and not be hurt too badly with losses - in our own conference. Wow, I mean woooowwww.

Best thing going on the social media internet right now is the mockery of tough-looking law enforcement officials when they post pictures of their latest marijuana bust.

WHOA! Streets are safe now that my grandma can't rip her Indica before Wheel of Fortune tonight!!

THANKS GUESS I'LL DRIVE AN HOUR TO (neighboring state) AND BUY IT LEGALLY AT A RETAIL SHOP.

I just flew home from Colorado with more than this bust.

Just really great stuff.

“US stocks suffer worst year since 2008 financial crisis.”

Some gems from LEX18’s comments...

If it is the worst year since 2008, when I lost nearly 100k, then why have I got more money today than 2008?

Still higher than when Obama was in.

It’s be at a record breaking highs for 2 years now.

How is that with numbers higher than it’s been since I don’t know when.

18 you suck. Such liberals. So untrue.

My stocks are up. Maybe I missed something.

How is it a bad year when it hit a record high of 26,000?

This is a great opportunity to get in before it hits 27,000 in March.

-It was great getting to see all of the crew and catching up at Dr Boat's wedding. That reception went from 0 to 100 with a quickness. One minute Im drinking Eagle Rare and laughing at the toasts, the next on the dance floor, then I wake up from a passed out haze with an Uber driver screaming at me, YOU'RE HOME GET OUT OF MY CAR, WAKE UP!!! That next day was brutal. Appreciated the fellowship and memories old friends.

-Ill admit it, I teared up when Benny broke the record. I'll also admit that in the 4th quarter I totally believed the game was going to be lost, that we were going to lose a bowl game that was so confidently ours in the most Kentucky way possible. Not this year though. Nothing was ever a gimme this season but the Cats did what they needed to do. Now just angry at myself for not trying harder to find the time in my schedule to fit a quick trip to Florida in.

-For those in attendance at the bowl game, strong work. The fans sounded loud as hell on TV throughout the game.

-Back to the grind. Being an adult sucks. Seacrest out.

Glad you made it home in one piece, Huber.

Wedding was amazing but sadly I pulled a PTI and was a real drag. Was still recovering from my bout of food poisoning a few days prior so I was in no condition to compete. LSAT balled out (and looked amazing) however. Ladies all looked nice.

Glad that old Courthouse is finally being put to use, the venue is gorgeous. It seemed like they were working on that site for a good damned decade. Other downtown venues have notoriously charged an arm and a leg, so hopefully the new competition will keep ppl in line. #sharetheLex

- Still worried about Quickley. He's weak AF with the ball and they'll beat his *** up even more come conference play. If nothing else, knock down some shots. Need that second unit to get it going. As agressive as we're asking Hagans to play, he will have more than his share of foul trouble. Both Quickley and AJ's development arc are crucial to winning us a few games we probably shouldn't -- which usually correlates to that huge 2-3 seed difference.

No.

Davis = Henson(my gawd)

The logic was fair to pick basketball THIS year, however the question was f’ing stupid anyway which renders the whole thing moot.

It’s rare to use the word clutch for a defensive player but Allen was clutch. Dude was always there when we needed him.
Loved when the camera caught him putting his helmet on when the D had to go back out there at 27-21. He had this huge smile on his face.

Maybe the only time in my lifetime I felt confident the Cats would keep a team out of the end zone. No way he was gonna let that happen.

Man, finally slowing down a bit. On the plane to the pacific now. Gonna be a long trip but kind of looking forward to just watching some movies and processing the past week. Literally have been going since Thursday night with out of town guests.

It’s been awesome and exhausting.

Johnboy made shrimp etoufee yesterday that was literally the best thing I’ve ever eaten.

Still just so proud of the football team and all our guys. What a year.

Shout out should be made to how fancy and well dressed the crew was at the wedding. You guys do black tie optional well. That live action photo you sent was an all timer.

Wow- that sucks about Dontaie Allen tearing his ACL. Averaging 43p and had Mr. Basketball locked up for a high school that has never been good.
