I thought they were related ( like 2nd cousins). I also hear Cal was pushing for Archie to be IU coach

Yeah I think you're right. Seem to remember reading that he had reached out to JC to get his advice on whether or not he should take the Indiana Job. Either way I know Calipari said publicly that he thought Indiana made a great hire in Archie.

Correct - it’s not much publicized...but Cal did throw in a good word for Arch to be next coach at IU

That's crazy. Butler given only two free throws the ENTIRE GAME, and in a very intense hard fought game that went down to the final shot?

When have you seen that before?
I mean, IU only went to the line 10 times; Morgan was 7-7. Total fouls was 15(Butler)-12(Indiana). Not some huge difference.

Cal is the new Crean. Deal with it.

Sorry for the non-UK bump, but I just saw this.

I’ve seen a lot of stupid things said on college basketball message boards. But this one has to rank near the top.

I’m obviously no UK or Cal fan. But I am capable of reading things like WL records, tournament brackets, etc.

Whatever else I might think of John Calipari, I’d be hard-pressed to name a coach in the country who has had more success during the years Cal has been at Kentucky.

Tom Crean’s best team over 9 mostly painful seasons in Bloomington featured two of the top 4 picks in the ensuing NBA Draft. And that team struggled to beat a mediocre Temple team before getting curb-stomped by Syracuse in one of the single worst coaching jobs I have ever witnessed.

Cal, on his worst day, is 10 times the coach Crean is on his best. It’s embarrassing that any IU fan would draw that ridiculous comparison.
