Been sayin’ for a while bringing those two in as a package would solve a lot of problems. I’d be living up there.

What is the current ranking of out 19 class now? We must be around 20 or worse with all the terrible forecasting. I'd say wait until all recruits are signed to write Cal off. His past reflects with positive results that he is far from done.

I just don't get excited about who he's watching anymore. He ain't gettin' like he was and I defended him to the core, but right now, Cal has lost his appeal that he had with recruits.
I just don't get what happened.

"Swag" wears out in a hurry. K projects class and Duke substance.

Just a wild *** guess 'cause I'm not sitting in recruits' living room with the parents.

I think it’s a combination of negative recruiting against us by other coaches and that we need a shake up on our staff with assistant coaches. Losing Antigua has hurt our recruiting big time.

Either something soured on the recruiting trail in terms of recruit opinions of Cal and UK, Cal simply has changed the type of player he recruits, and/or he's just not able to develop teams like he did his first 5-6 years here.

It was clear up until the Platoon, that Cal was lottery pick hunting. Since then he's hasn't hauled in the elite level talent or been as successful coaching up the talent.

5-6 years ago? TWO years ago, Fox and Monk were on the team that got screwed by the refs against the eventual NC. Smh

So Cal is out there recruiting and he sucks.
We got a bunch of effing geniuses on this board. I feel inferior to their mighty iq and knowledge of the future. I am in awe.

I think the platoon was an accident of timing.

People overestimate the amount of planning possible in recruiting. When Cal signed KAT, Lyles, Booker, and Ulis, he had no way of knowing that he would be returning both Harrisons, WCS, Poythress, and Dakari Johnson. The first 3 in particular were definitely not a sure thing until the very last moment. Then all 4 of the recruits turned out to be ready to play, to the extent that you couldn't really limit any of them to 10 mpg. Thus the platoon happened, and honestly, worked better than almost anyone could have predicted.

And what's changed may simply be more "aggressiveness" (define that how you wish) among top programs for the top player, particularly at Duke. Cal could just Bigfoot everyone in 2010, when AD exploded on the HS scene, and wrap him up in about 3 months. That doesn't seem to be happening now, especially apparent the last 2 years with Bagley, Ayton, Barrett, and Zion.

Feels impossible that Cal would have missed on all of them 5 years ago.

This could all change in a second. All it takes is one class of players where multiple top guys are set on UK. And that's not some pipe dream, as Cal can always pull a Saban and talk about the billion dollar+ his ex players have signed for in the NBA. Just because a small set of kids don't buy it for a few years does not mean that other kids in other years won't be sold on it.

Cal isn't alone at least. I am still 100% "wit" him....yeah I may be nearing the only one left and you can mark it down. BBUK is still 100% "wit" Coach Cal...

Cal sitting next to Archie Miller at Hs game in Indy. Watching Stewart and Brooks.

Isn't that part of the problem? Teams are recruiting negatively against UK in a major way. And how does Cal respond? He sits next to the coach who is his major rival for one of these guys, and I'm sure he's telling Brooks that "UK isn't for everyone" and "Archie's a great guy and you can't go wrong with any decision you make."

That worked when Nike was sending guys our way. He's going to have to fight a little harder now if he wants to win these battles.

This post sums it up, people bitching that went to indy to recruit and they would also ***** if he didn't go to indy to recruit. He's in no win situation. That's why I just can't see him doing this much longer. I'm sure he's thicked skin and well compensated but this is beyond ridiculous.

Like BBUK, Cal has broad shoulders. He can take it. He's no quitter. When he leaves, he leaves on a high note...

It ain't got nothing to do with Coach K saying anything.. its NIKE, Lebron, Team USA. If it were Coach K then he would have been Landing these Elite classes all the time over his last 40 seasons. He's never done what he's done since those three sources started helping him in 2014.

Dumb post & a cheap shot at Cal
