Wasn’t the class of ‘19 supposedly Joel Justus’ time to shine?

We’ve heard for the last couple of years now about all the in-roads Justus was making with this class, so what happened?

I realize it’s tough to accurately evaluate an assistant coach since we’re not privy to what goes on behind the scenes, but recruiting has taken a nosedive since Justus got here and it doesn’t seem like he’s a player development type of coach like Payne either so I think it’s fair to question what he brings to the table at this point.

Also heard he was an analytics guru but even the analytically adverse fans have figured out that we don’t play an analytically friendly style of basketball under Calipari.

Weren’t you miserable during the BCG years and last two of Tubby? If you weren’t then sorry you don’t love UK that much

You should want the fan base to strive for UK being dominant and elite even if it means some are over the top

It's been talked about quite a bit. Maybe you don't follow the program closely enough.

This is dumb. Did we cheat to get Anthony Davis? Did we cheat to get De'Aaron Fox? It's easy to just say "everyone else is cheating" instead of making an honest assessment of whether Cal's "This ain't for everyone, don't come here if you want to shoot" pitch is still as effective as it once was. It's clearly not. Cal needs to adapt. That's been his strongest suit in the past but to this point he seems kind of lost on how to get the mojo back.

Sorry, I realize that came across as rude when there was no need to be.

I'm not sure there's been one definitive article but for a couple of years now it's been mentioned all over the place that Justus has been forging relationships with 2019 recruits. Wiseman, Withers, Moore, Allen etc

For whatever reason he always seemed to be visiting with guys in the '19 class moreso than other classes, so I think some fans on this board got the impression that we'd really see the dividends of his work with this class.

What is it that’s analytically unfriendly about our style of play? We typically are very efficient both offensively and defensively.

Recruiting is good, but we’re used to the lambo and now we’re getting a suped up Nissan Z.

K is definitely pulling some strings, but we got in on Carey too late and Wiseman got pulled from under us. We’re still getting really good recruits, star wise, but some are leaving too early and the ones who don’t arent making great developmental strides.

We need top 5 recruits, or more guys to come back and improve for UK to be a serious title contender again. If what you care most about is UK getting guys to the NBA then nothing is bad right now.

And i bet they spent that quality time doing something positive instead of precious time complaining about something they have no control over.

Also like to point out I was 100% right about Carey to duke and wiseman to Memphis a month and a half ago... to everyone that bashed me for just trying to warn people... can EAD

Maybe you should be on HOB where it was said a whole lot over the past 2 or so years

It was also repeated here a bunch to defend our recruiting misses last year... just wait. Justus is in great with the 19 class.

Maxey, Whitney, and allen must be chopped liver...Memphis literally spent millions to get rid of a coach to get Wiseman...sad for him, but **** happens. Our RECRUITING Is Never done IN december...Not By A Long shot

I didn’t make uneducated guesses. I took in what all the recruiting guys were saying plus insiders of all the schools involved and made educated guesses that were right. Tried to let people know and got hammered for it. I have every right to tell those people to EAD

Since that offended you I should go back and see if you were one of them. Sounds like you were

He’s not trolling. I remember good posts of his back when we were doing great. He’s had some bad posts but this thread has its merits. Justus was said to be in well with this class and we’ve tanked on every big we’ve recruited ... gotta hope McDaniels and Hurt say yes now

I'm glad our fans are taking on a widespread martyr complex regarding UK not cheating.

Glad to know "we're doing things the right way."

Does doing things the right way win titles? I guess we can hang an ethics banner next fall.

So the big men we have swung and missed on in 2019 Wiseman, Carey, Oscar, Cockburn, Stewart and Igiehon someone needs fired on the coaching staff just saying!

The first time we would cheat Emmert would be on the first plane to Lexington to shut UK down we wouldn't get the same special treatment as these other schools get!

Please provide links or any proof that 19 was supposed to be Justices year? Only thing you could probably dig up was the opinion of some posters on here who think they know stuff. Show us where you read this?

I understand you hate Cal. That’s cool and all, but your game is played out.
