It will be gross.

And don’t forget U6.
Well, uh, I don’t even want to consider losing to Loserville. That would be really ugly.

It’s a single loss. Don’t look now both Duke and UK a loss. And by the way sunshine no loss is “acceptable” to a Cat fan but most of us get over it and realize we are 4-1, showing some growth and will be in the thick of things tourney time.

Thick of things...like in 16 and 18?

I thought I saw a stat that in the last 3 years we are 5-10 against ranked teams, Kansas has beaten us what 3 in a row, we are not even winning our conference every year, recruiting has slipped a notch or 2.

Stick your head in the sand if you wish, but this program is trending down and if a man making 8 million a year cannot figure this out by the end of next year it is time to put him on notice. His record is getting pretty close to Tubbys

Yeah, we should roll ever single year. Just like Duke does. Duke goes to the final four almost every single year and has how many championships in the entire HISTORY of the program? 50? 60? Oh wait, just FIVE. Go cry somewhere else, your act has gotten pathetic.

Exactly.

There is no coach/recruiter that can fill that seat as of today. Be patient Cal will turn it around. I believe by March this team will have a good shot at winning it all. Way too early to give up on this team.

I’m not sure cal is convinced he can turn it around.

You've pounded your fist that we need to shoot 50 threes a game and that nothing short of a championship every single year and all the top recruits is acceptable. Sorry man, I can't read any more of your brain-dead posts. Adios.

The saying "you can't fix stupid" was coined with you in mind.

No. The job is Cal’s till he doesn’t want it anymore. His record on the court is more than good enough when you take into consideration everything else the man has done to elevate the status of the program off the court. Quality of character of the kids he brings through the program. Plus his contributions and the teams to the community. Hell, as I write this they’re at the Salvation Army helping serve thanksgiving dinner. That stuff matters

Saying Cal is on the hot seat is laughable but its also laughable that people say he could never be on the hot seat. Think about this... Knight had many incidents with his players over his years but it never came out until Indiana was poor for a decade..... it would never of come out and Knight would still of been at IU had he never let the game pass him by.

If a coach that won 4 titles like Knight could go on the hot seat.......... then any coach could be on the hot seat .

I want to know how the fans that say Cal can NEVER be on the hot seat justify the 5-10 against ranked opponents, the not winning the SEC, 2 schools having multiple titles in his time here??

Would Alabama tolerate that from Nick Savanna? LSU didn’t with les miles?

He could definitely end up on the hot seat, but it would only occur after a few dismal seasons and he'd leave before that occurred. Yet another ignorant thread.

You can only use the “let’s hope the have got it by March” card so long.
Fans are tired of getting trounced by our blue blood rivals and 8-10 loss seasons.
Stop being stupid. How many coaches can match Cal in March wins since he's been here? I haven't kept track in the past 2 years, but it's somewhere from 0-2. I'll let you work the rest out.

Cal definitely needs to change some things. However, his job security is not even a question.
Nor should it be at this point. But, unless things change, it may come to that. Losing real OAD is one thing, losing players without a real chance to get drafted is another. I hope can fix this, because I fear his getting the top 5 are over, at least till K retires. Others are buying players, I hope we never stoop to that ever again.

Seems a portion of this fan base is now satisfied getting a yearly *** kicking by Kansas, watching Duke and Nova, and Unc cut nets down, having Tubbyesque 10 loss seasons, not winning the conference and so on.

So much for the gold standard!!! That came to screeching halt in April 2015, If Cal can’t get the best of best recruits anymore then it is his job to coach them up and get assistant coaches who can do the same.

If he can’t win on just having superior talent anymore then they need more game planning and so forth and that is 100% on him

After reading this thread, the conclusion: situation is out of Calipari's control due to changes in the national recruiting landscape, which he could also not control. And it is because of this that our men's basketball team regularly appears under prepared for equal or near equal competition, overwhelmed by better competition, does not play with urgency or high enthusiasm for 40 minutes, and why the competition does not suffer similar problems related to fundamental offensive execution. That we must allow time and even more and higher recruits within the top 10 who have the ability to address these issues (players first, not coaching), World Wide Wes was the most valuable component of our success in the past 10 years . . . expectations of raw coaching with unique abilities to achieve results on the basketball floor are a thing of the distant past, modern fantasy.

Duke wins the title this year and we have not won another title by the end of the 2019-2020 season??

Or if we flame out in the sweet 16 again the next 2 seasons?

I believe Cal needs another final 4 trip in the next 2 years, I do not think a title is a realistic end to this year, but maybe next year if some key guys return and Whitney does indeed come to UK.
No. It is the nature of basketball. We do not have the team this year to win it all. And more than that, we do not have bigs that play with intensity other than Monty.

You’re talking about the coach who has won more regular season games than any other coach in the country since he came to Kentucky, and has more NCAA Tournament wins as well? You think there’s a conceivable path to him being on the hot seat that doesn’t involve a scandal, but is based just on wins and losses?

Stupid. Sorry. No other word for it.

Duke could win the next 5 championship, us lose before the elite eight every year, and people on here would be absolutely fine with it as long as we get the number one recruiting class each season. What if Anthony Davis decided to go somewhere else and Cal didn’t have one championship in almost 10 years? This one and done business would be on its last leg because it is not working.
Calipari:
most wins since he got here
most NCAA Tournament wins since he got here.

But you’re right, “it’s not working”. [eyeroll]

This coach currently is NOT meeting expectations is the point. The Yankees let Joe Torre walk too after 7 years of having the most talent and making the playoffs every year because he was not winning the championship and I’m sure their fans were scared because the did not think that success could be equaled, but alas Joe Giradi had them back in the winners circle within 2 years.

Maybe if Cal reinforced the idea that his ultimate goal is to win titles and not see how many players get drafted I would feel differently but I think the mans ego is still hurt by lack of NBA success as a coach and his crutch to his critics is to point out how many NBA guys are Cal guys.

I have not said Cal should be fired I have simply stated a fact that he currently is not meeting expectations. Now if you consider 8-10 loss years and beatdiwns by Kansas for 3 years, 40 point drubbings by Duke, 2nd or 3rd place conference finishes, a 33% winning percentage against ranked opponents, and embarrassments in the tournament against Kansas freaking State acceptable you my friend may not be a Kentucky fan.

Cal saved his dam job after the Billy G nightmare.
Nope. Barnhart’s Job was never in danger. The President Lee Todd in February 2011 on Barnhart’s contract extension:

“Kentucky President Lee Todd, who announced the extension Wednesday, is retiring at the end of the 2010-11 academic year after serving as president for 10 years. He said he wanted to extend Barnhart's contract for "two or three years now," but he made it a priority before leaving office in June. "I'm doing a heck of a favor for the next president of this university, and don't think I'm not," Todd said.”

He’d wanted to extend it for 2-3 years, which would be from 2008-2011 roughly, or all thru the CBG years.
