-the problem with sports(all for that matter) media/"journalism" is that most modern writers/reporters are opining on subject matter that that have no expertise or experience with...and often presenting it as truth or at the very least an opinion of substance. Maybe its always been that way and I am just picking up on it now.

-the revelation that most "journalists" are fos/pretenders coupled with unprecedented access to unfiltered/undistilled info renders these folks impotent...relics.

-bloggers and their "hot takes" are what passes for journalism. Its noise...and their opinions are often no more informed/valid than the avg person on the street. When everyone is a journalist no one is a journalist.

Well this new stage they have with social media and all their “followers,” they’ve gotten a little big for their britches. People aren’t following them to hear about their kids or their political views. They’re following ONLY for sports.

It amazes me how many podcasts I listen to where these aggrandizing dickheads talk about personal ******** for the first 15 minutes. Shut up and talk about basketball.

I just watch my sports and my porn and I don’t read about them, worry about their careers, etc. I’m just a big dumb animal with much better taste than Avy Scott??? Are you kidding me. No, your last porn crush was a fat chick.

Ya know what? I’m starting to appreciate ole Lar and his methods. In this crazed world with “JOURNALISTS”, even those who cover sports for a living, getting all self righteous & sanctimonious while pushing their social/politician agenda...

Here’s a man who just wants to opine about the CATS and interview some eye candy every so often as he enters the twilight years of his life.

TEAM CHAINCE.

I understand what you are saying but at least in our case, the personal stuff (mixed in with UK sports) is what takes it to another level. I can say anything about UK sports and it gets minimal feedback. The personal stuff drives the show (and the ratings).

With that said, it has to be interesting....and most hosts (and people) aren’t interesting. But the best shows, in my view, make you become a part of the hosts’ lives.

Plus sports ain’t rocket science. My opinion is no better than anyone else’s. To act otherwise is silly

KSR is crushing it. Their followings are massive and people line up to shoot sponsorship money to them. Hate on it all you want, but they know how to cater to the Kentucky demographic.

I will say that Matt carries the show. I love Ryan but that was painful on Tuesday. That show will die when Matt leaves.

There’s a difference in a 3-hour radio show and a podcast.

I'll hate on Ryan. I've met him in person and he's a very nice guy. But his KSR schtick is just awful. He adds nothing but stupidity and shirtlessness.

Practically anyone could do his job. All you need is an absence of dignity, the ability to sound like a stupid yes-man without an original thought, and a willingness to embarrass yourself.

Lol, that quote is amazing - nearly as much so that Carson Daly apparently thought it apt to use it to promote his show. Hollywood [sick]

If you step back and take your “get offended” lenses off, it’s really not that bad of a quote. It’s hyperbole - but still effective to show that we all need to overcome some obstacles to meet our objectives. For example:

“Like a fireman running into a burning building, I ran into a West End White Castle at 3AM to eat twelve sliders after crushing beers downtown two weeks ago.”

I think any fireman would see eye-to-eye with me on this one.

Jones would not be very smart to run against Cocaine Mitch in this current political environment. IMO.

“Jones should not leave his law job to start a sports radio show”

“Jones is foolish to start a tv show and talk politics...he should stick to sports”

“Jones is foolish to get in the restaurant business. What a dumb decision”

Not saying you are wrong...any race against Mitch would be an uphill battle. But you gotta keep life interesting and sometimes fighting the good fight is worth it....oh yeah and “this political environment” changes about every week. Anyone who thinks they can predict what will happen next is delusional

I may not run...but if I didn’t do things bc the majority of people thought it would be a bad idea, I would still be preparing appellate briefs at Frost, Brown Todd

@MattJonesKSR - I've been a believer in KSR for a long time. Love how you are branching out in other forms of media / businesses / opportunities (with one caveat - see below). That said, Mitch is on a high note right now, so the timing might not be good. Rand may be more prime for the taking in a few years. But who knows as things change

Caveat: I did bet SAE $100 that KSBar goes out of business within 3 years (can't believe he gave me three years - even successful restaurants don't always last that long). It's not personal or an indication of the food or the place - that all looks great. But when I saw Ryan Lemond without his shirt on spraying the crowd with Champagne after the Florida game, I questioned the motives of ownership. That's a direct hit on margin baby!

Are you saying he’s an empty suit?

Also, Matt, “The Funkhouser Situation” is a perfect podcast. I like Tomlin, but I like it when Lee sticks it to him even more. Perfect mix. It’s my favorite podcast, keep it up, IMO.

I am many things...but an idiot isn’t one. In this state, in the areas I would need to win, Mitch is much less popular than Rand. Now that doesn’t mean I would win....partisanship goes a long way....but even now, his popularity in the Trump areas I would need to succeed in (Eastern and Central Kentucky) are insanely low

He does better in West Ky but still not as good as Rand. As for the restaurant, 3 years is a long time...but if we keep up at even close to this pace, we may make our investment back Long before that and if that happens, the rest is gravy.

Plus it has been great for the brand....and it’s a hell of a lot of fun....which is what life is about

Matt can't get the checkerboards off the unis, get the flag spinning the right way or at the right time at basketball games, or have the jankety wooden sign put back on Nicholasville Road and he wants to be Senator? SAD!

Also, where's Max been at? #smuglyfe vacation or tied his bib on too tight at Skyline??? Kinda concerned tbh
