What I want to know is...
... why does he crap all over MSU, then claims if MSU wins their bowl & goes 9-4, MSU will probably end up ranked in the final AP poll. I realize he is showing his *** & casting logic to the wind, but don't predict a team is going to be ranked if they win their bowl after you've just spent an whole article tearing them to shreds.

Like I've written on here several times, our eight wins are garbage wins. The writer is right when he points out that the perception of our season will be better because we have 8 or 9 wins. But the truth about our team is that we are not very good at all. This season was a failure because we lost to every team on our schedule that had any kind of fight in them. I personally blame our soft defense.
Who cares? I will take 8 garbage wins. Do I want to do better? Yes. Should I feel bad that those teams are down at the moment? I don't think I should. I am going to enjoy our wins and the bowl game. You can whine about our wins not being good enough.
We can change all perception by beating the crap out of our next opponent in a bowl game. I'm sick of all the bitching. Folks around here were pumped up a month ago. Win this next 17'ing game and everything will be right in the universe. That is until signing day.
Dude has a point - Our schedule is weaker than skim milk, but it won't be next year. We start off with Oklahoma State, then add on LSU, Bama, South Carolina, and Texas AM. Plus, Arkansas, Auburn, and OM. We could play 7 or 8 top 25 teams next year.
I don't think we'll finish the reason ranked in the AP even with an impressive bowl win. Not like it really matters.

Yeah we lost 4 games. 3 consecutive losses to teams that ended in the top 10 and a loss to our in-state rival, on the road, who needed one win to be bowl eligible for the first time in several years.
Our 8 wins were against opponents that ended with bad records but to say they had no fight in them. Outside of Arkansas, that's pretty stupid. We played Auburn in week 2, fresh off their opening loss to Clemson. We played TN after the week after they had lost by a touchdown to SEC east champion Georgia. They were 3-2 at the time. Pretty sure they had some fight in them.

How about Rutgers. 10-2 losses to Kent State and Pitt. Win tonight against Louisville and they are in a BCS bowl. Best win? Cincinnati
Or Kent State. 11-1 Ranked 17th in the BCS, 18th in AP. That one loss?? A 47-14 beatdown by Kentucky. Best win? See above.
Or Clemson. 10-2 Ranked 14th in BCS. Losses to SC and FSU. Best win? NC State
Or Boise St. 10-2 Ranked 20th in BCS, 25th in AP and 3rd in the Mountain West. Lost to Michigan St. and San Diego St. Best win? Fresno St.

Miss State with their 8 little weakass wins- Gator Bowl
Mississippi won the Egg Bowl and played the better teams closer- Birmingham Bowl
Moral Victories dont get you to the Gator Bowl- actual wins do. Doesn't matter who they were against.
I think it is absolutely hilarious that this **** is written the one year we do well against a ****** schedule. Who knew Auburn, Ark, and UT would be bad? Where were these douchebags when Ole Miss made a Cotton bowl at 8-4? There are tons of teams that fall in to our category, except their losses weren't ALL to bowl teams and teams in the Top 10 in the country.

If we'd fought hard in any of our four losses, I'd understand us taking a step back next year with all the seniors we lost. Now, if we go 6-6 or 5-7 in 2013, what's hidden behind those eight 2012 wins will come bubbling to surface. There's very little evidence we are getting better.
There's a chance we have a staff that doesn't know how to utilize an NFL type QB. There's no doubt we've got a staff that has consistently regressed on defense. These issues aren't going away.
Maybe all these guys we've been redshirting will help. I sure hope so. But this staff lost a lot of momentum (and slack criticism-wise) by finishing the season so poorly (1-4 with the only win over a team that had quit months ago).

That's not true. Ask the Ole Miss team in who went 7-4, and beat Alabama, then had to watch the same 6-5 Alabama team go to the Bowl while Ole Miss sat at home. It's not just about "wins period."
Which Cotton Bowl? 2008 when we went 5-3 in the SEC with wins against Florida, Ark, Auburn, LSU, and beat MSU 45-0? Or 2009 when we beat Ark, Auburn, UT, and LSU?

Pretty sure every SEC team had the same chance to make their schedule that MSU did. It wasn't our fault 3 top SEC programs all decided to **** the bed in the same season. We went through many years of scheduling Oregon, West Virginia and Georgia Tech and we lost every single one of them. Bad. We are appeasing the whining by scheduling OSU next year. Will it be our fault if OSU is a bad team next year? When is someone going to write about MSU the coach killer? Count in Ole Miss from last year and MSU has had a major impact in 5 SEC teams firing their coach in the last calendar year.
That may be so but when you are the Bowl Committee chairmen and the commissioner of the SEC tells you that it would be better for you not to take that team, you as a bowl committee do what they say. Really do you want to risk crossing the head of the SEC? He might go looking for another bowl game to replace you. Back when State went to the Gator Bowl they were seriously considering taking a 6-6 Tenn team over Mississippi State but to his credit the head of the SEC stepped in.
2009 was a pretty mediocre team. The schedule was pretty easy for an SEC schedule, but that team really benefited from a weird year in the SEC more than a weak schedule, where there were a lot of mediocre teams. There traditionally strong teams weren't dumpster fires like this year's arkansas, auburn, and UT teams, but they were still pretty weak.
True, but if they don't fall off the cliff, we probably only win 6 games and the guy has no reason to write the article.
I didn't start this thread... But I guess you're right. Who cares that we aren't getting better. Lets enjoy our eight cupcake wins and bowl game. We'll just do our best to ignore that we haven't even been competitive against a good team since USCe in 2011 (18 games ago). Be positive! Genespack 4 life!
I'm getting pretty 17ing sick and tired of people griping about our "weak" schedule! The Pac-12, are you serious? The girlish PAC 12 is welcome to invite a bad tempered, overachieving Troy team to Tucson, Tempe, Berkeley, Boulder, Pullman, or Seattle and see how it works out for them. MTSU would have beaten some PAC 12 teams at full strength, also. It is pretty odd the way our schedule turned out, since the league teams we beat were so down. I'd be willing to bet money that it won't happen again! But it's not our fault that all these conference teams sucked. 17 espn
That was before there were 16 tie ins for SEC teams. If you are bowl eligible as an SEC team - you are going bowling.
