Crazy right? Patterson, Meeks, Liggins, Miller, and Jorts. Not to mention other solid players like Ramon Harris and Perry Stevenson.

at myself for defending Billy G.

There was a sizeable portion of the fanbase that hung on to the very end. I think they were worried that we would lose out on Jon Hood, Daniel Orton, and Dominique Ferguson. I suppose there was some real concern that we might miss out on some of our top coaching targets. Looking back its easy to see that it was the right move.

I will admit that BCG was my top choice after we whiffed on Billy Donovan. I mean the guy slept in his office, drank Dr. Pepper and ate live bullets, he was married to basketball.... and all of that nonsense. I am just glad that he failed so fantastically that we were able to get rid of him in year 2.

Holy crap, never came to my mind that team had all that talent. Really speaks to Cal ability to develop talent, without him I doubt Liggins, Miller and definitely Jorts even are on the NBA radar. Patterson might of got there but probably would of took longer had Cal not help develop his outside game.

If I remember correctly, UK and VMI took 10+ point leads in the game multiple times. Which is super odd, usually the mid major will crumble once they lose the lead. Very odd game.

Not odd if you factor in Billy and Mitch.

I was sitting on the first row of the second tier directly behind the media. There were two college guys wearing VMI hats sitting at the table in front of me. It was awful. I wanted to punch Tubby Smith and both of them in the face.

Yeah, Mitch played really bad defense that game.

I remember the Gardner Webb debacle, but I had somehow forgotten about losing to VMI. It quickly became obvious that Billy G wasn't cut out to be Kentucky's coach. He just melted under the intense spotlight that shines on Wildcat Basketball. Mitch made a terrible judgment call when he hired Billy G. Like Cal says, this place isn't for everyone.

A lot of people still defended Billy G after Gardner Webb and VMI. The wheels didnt really come off until the University of Jody Meeks halftime interview.

If anyone is interested in the non-conference games I've got 2 lower level season tickets to all the home games. Obviously KU and Utah are off the table. Also will be selling some SEC games, will post those when the Conference schedule comes out.
Would love to try to get some off you not sure which ones I can go to with my dialysis schedule.

I'm sure Dakota Euton, Vinny Zollo, and GJ Vilarino all approve of this message.

"Zollo >>> Ferguson"

:rolleyes:o_O Strange times back then. Myself included. I didn't know if I should scratch my watch or wind my butt. SOOO grateful to Calipari for undoing the wrong that had been done to UK basketball.
