What pros or college players did he face in the FIBA tournament? Wasn't it a U17 event?I mean he faced pros and college players in the FIBA tournament where they beat USA in 2017. He also played for the Canadian men’s national team this summer.
I would put KJ's athleticism against any of the 3 main forwards you have. Zion and maybe Javin could be slightly better, but Johnson is more athletic than Reddish or Barrett. We also have 3 guards and maybe a 4th with more athleticism than any you all have. We also win the athleticism battle at the 5 with Richards.Agree, I hate that about the Duke and especially UNC boards. This board is by far the most open to other fanbases. That's why a lot of us hang out here.
I didn't say UK isn't athletic, but Reddish, Barrett, Zion, and Javin are better athletes than UK's starters at those positions.
Again, wasn't it a U17 event? How many of them were in college? And what about the college players on the team?
Barrett comes across as a pre-madonna ******* about every time he talks.
Look he is good, no doubt, but he hasn't seen teams that have been together and played together at a high level like he will in college. Also most of the games he has played in I doubt there is much of a scouting report or strategy to stop him in play.
Bottom line is he is going to get the best defender most games and it will fall more on the other 2 (Zion and Cam) to produce big numbers. I can also see him getting frustrated when smothered for a game and forcing the issue. I have seen that in him in lesser games. Ky will hound him to death and Zion better be able to run for 40mins. Just a guess, but I suspect Zion to have no legs at the end of the game against us and RJ forcing a lot of bad shots unless he can get to the rim with ease. KJ and Ashton have shown great flashes of D. Having those 2 out there with a rum protector like Nick looks to be and it will be along day for teams against Ky. I'm not that big on your PG and he will get Q, Quade and Hagans thrown at him. With PJ, EJ, Reid and Nick inside I love our chances against you.

5. There are Dook message boards somewhere on the Internet.4. RJ and Zion are just really good and people should just learn to give credit where it’s due.
There are good players not playing for uk. There are good players playing for uk. That’s what makes this fun.
Agree. This thread needs to go bye bye, like now. Nothing wrong with the kid feeling like he's a good player, because honestly, he freaking is.He seems kind of like a chode (as does Zion ) but... am i the only one that doesn’t think this quote of his is a big deal?
Lastly... dissecting every single thing duke and everything a duke player says and duke players weight etc continues to make us look obsessed with “all mighty duke”
Edit—> yep lol... 3 of the first 4 threads on the front page are Duke related and 5 of the top 7 threads are duke related...:grimace:

Axe this thread mods. This is going to end up on every other board and just adds to the perception that we are obsessed with duke.
Diallo and McCoy had never played a college game at that point. Huerter averaged 4 & 3 and Okagie averaged 4 & 4 on that trip. While both were drafted this past draft, neither played a significant role on that team. Edwards and Prtichard both played well, but Edward's just went undrafted, so not exactly a high end talent type. Not to mention they were all on one team, which he only played against in 1 game, following FIBA rules, which barrett and team Canada had an advantage in.It was U19. Diallo, Edwards, Huerter, Okogie, Pritchard, Mccoy
Lol, didn't you all lose to a team last year on an 11 or 12 game losing streak, while being the #1 team?Dude I don’t care about the scouting report of Duke vs UK lol. I’m just pointing out you were wrong about what Barrett has faced. I think Kentucky will be very good and could give him some problems but I think you’re greatly over estimating the rest of college basketball. Who are these amazing grown men he’ll be facing night in and night out?

Yep, don’t think we were # 1 then though. That’s Villanova you’re thinking of.Lol, didn't you all lose to a team last year on an 11 or 12 game losing streak, while being the #1 team?
Not really. It had a lot of unproven talent, much like Duke this year. None of those players had more than a year of college experience and most not even that much. You tried to spin it off as him playing against pros earlier, which none of them were. He will face older, more experienced players in college, who play together a lot longer than a couple of weeks. He will face teams that have seen significant footage and scouting reports on them. Quite a bit different from FIBA U19 if you know much about basketball.Lol point was the poster said Barrett has never faced anything like he will see in college. Pretty sure that team had more talent than most teams he will see in college.

Ohh, yea. You're right. You guys were #1 when you lost to mighty Boston college a few weeks prior. You were a lowly #4 when throttled by 11 loss in a row St. Johns.Yep, don’t think we were # 1 then though. That’s Villanova you’re thinking of.
Really, who? And did team Canada play against them? There were pros in that tournament. They weren’t playing for USA because of NCAA rules but there were pros.
Too late for that, and I don’t really care TBH. Our fan base isn’t obsessed with Duke. Our online message board fan base is. This is not an accurate representation of our fan base as a whole.

Who? Italian guys playing in Italy isnt exactly ground breaking stuff. Thanks!
A lot of the itailian guys were playing series A in Italy.
Who? Italian guys playing in Italy isnt exactly ground breaking stuff.
Ohh yea? What pro teams do they play for and how did they do?Okeke was for sure. Who said it was ground breaking?
Penna as well.
FYI, you do realize the younger 2 Ball brothers played for some pro team in a 3rd world country. Would you really consider your guys beating them the same as beating actual pros or being legit competition? That's essentially what these guys you're calling pros are.Okeke was for sure. Who said it was ground breaking?
Penna as well.

Hahaha, you're making the claim, but you can provide 0 evidence to support it. Now you want me to do your research for you? It's okay to be wrong man; I won't hold it against you.I’ll let you look them up. Also to my original point like 20 comments ago, Barrett played for the Canadian men’s national team this sunmer. People were acting like the competition in college basketball was going on on a whole other level than engraving he’s faced. In reality Barrett has faced better competition than probably ever other freshman in college basketball between his international career and two straight years to the high school national championship game.

A lot of young players and back ups play for the qualifying teams. It doens't mean much and the competition is a joke. The Vrankovic kid you all have did the same thing for his native country. That's the level of player he was competing against. Top level D1 players are much different, particularly experienced players.
High school basketball is night and day difference from college, unless maybe NAIA level.
I still have reservations until seeing them in real action, but there is one major difference in you seem to forget. Our guys get to practice against multiple other elite guys daily. Tyler Herro has Quickly, Hagans, and Greene (who is an experienced college player) to go up against daily. Keldon Johnson has Washington, Travis and Richard's in the front court who have all played at least one year, in reid travis case a little over 3 years. Plus EJ montgomery. Not to mention they just went up against a few former D1 players in the Bahamas. And a couple potential NBA prospects from Mega Bemax.Penna for Vitrus Bologna and Okeke for Auxilium Torino. I agree college is different than high school but no one is doubting Keldon Johnson or Tuler Herro because they haven’t faced college competition yet.
I have never heard of either of those. Did they actually play for them before the U19 tournament? If so, how did they do as far as contributing? How did the teams do overall?Penna for Vitrus Bologna and Okeke for Auxilium Torino. Judging by the fact u19 team Italy was ranked 11th in the world and averaged almost 25 points less a game than Canada, I am willing to wager it won't be good numbers wise.opcorn:
Who has he beaten or gone up against of note? I don't count allstar games. They show and prove nothing. He's played high school level competition, with a few guys who played a year of college I'm the U19. I think he's good, but I want to see him play on a consistent basis against legit teams, with better players, defenses and experience than what he has seen so far. I don't think thats being unrealistic. This is what I’m talking about. Barrett has probably played better and more varied competition than any freshman in the country over the last two years but three games against some random teams with “nba prospects” apparently means more than that lol.
