-Saw "Higher Learning" at South Park Cinema in Lexington with a crowd of folks that was 90 percent not-my-shade. When Rap got beat down in that stairwell by Omar Epps, approximately 90 percent of the crowd stood up and started cheering. It was *awkward*.

-Went to the 1996 Rock-and-Jock basketball game in Irvine, CA. I am not proud of this.

Thursday Shotes:

-Man, that's a lot of rain. Needed around here, though -- :golf: courses are already coming back, they needed a breather.

-STARGAZING is the best intro track of the year. :fire:

-Andrew Zimmern was in town a few weeks ago filming for his new show. Red Hog, El Molcajete, Milkwood, and Deebs (!!) will apparently be featured.

-When I watch RJ Barrett, great player but I don't see "omg automatic consensus #1 pick". I'd take a bet that he won't be.

They're going to look like world-beaters at times, but this is the first time K's ever had a roster without 2-3 steady vets. Going to be difficult.

-Speaking of Duke vets, I like the Quinn Cook comparison I've seen floating around for Quade Green, as it relates to his 'veteran/calming' role on this team & sliding off the ball to make room. They don't win that title in '15 without him, and you could argue he was their MVP.

-I like most all of the 'Americana' ([eyeroll]) you guys flaunt these days w/ one exception ----> Isbell. His whiny voice & seemingly always-dark subject matter is just too much for me. Killa & I discussed this at the Eli & he agreed...I just don't get the appeal for every day listening.

-Car shopping for the Lass. Lexus has 200K miles, and it's time to upgrade. It's incredible how expensive vehicles are these days -- even your generic (and used) ones.

-Need a new show to watch in the mold of a drama/mystery/murder. I have no idea what's new/good, seems like Netflix/Amazon drop about 10 new series per week. I can't keep up, but I do like having 1 that I can cue up 1 night a week.

There’s never been a more “on the nose” movie than “Higher Learning”. Not that I’ve seen anyways.

The main take away is that peace rallies are dangerous and never work.

-This team kinda (I say that loosely) feels like one of Roy's recent teams.

-Duke is going to be fun to watch but I'm not buying the hype(contender). We've seen this story at UK.

-KL. lunch next week? Should be good early week.

-Quick visit to the ER last night for, as G described it all the nurses and doctors, "the fart farts." One of my proudest moments.

-Higher Learning and whatever that genre is, I'll label it the Lisa Loeb genre, is another one of the lost greats along with corny 1980 comedy and 1980 teen movies.

-Agree with @SAECATFAN time to name a QB. No reason they can't throw in a caveat, "we plan on getting both reps early season but (x) is our starter."

-Campus is back in swing, great for my creepy dad meandering in his front yard game, but awful for trying to get out of my driveway or drive anywhere in the city without an outburst.

-Re: KL, "Tribe hangs six over the first two and you could just feel the place deflate. Kinda sad, really" -- I'd say they're use to it. Probably relieved they can down two domestos, a hot dog, then skip out in the 5th.

I tell you one thing Stoops completely gets => coachspeak. That SOB can do a full 10 minute interview with Jones or Leach and say absolutely nothing of substance. Even Cal will drop a nugget here and there between his little sayings that will be of some interest or you can read between the lines and understand what's going on.

Stoops gives nada, I'm sure it's intentional but it makes his interviews impossible to listen or read.

Shew, don't know anything about cars but I know our manufacturers have hit us 4 times in the last 15 months with price increases because of steel tariffs and what not. Assuming they're just using that as an excuse for "good economy people are spending lots of money."

Good luck.

Obviously never would, but you can spend up to 40K on a freaking Honda Accord if you are so inclined. That's insane.

* Same. Seriously.

* If anyone needs tips on how to spend less than $40,000 on a Honda, hollachaboi. Good luck!

- Just purchased a 2018 “PRE-OWNED” Camry at a fairly reasonable price. Maybe not GYEROMAN worthy, but it’s a decent, reliable ride.

- I feel like ‘73 and Brax would be natural rivals. Both have strong, athletic sons that are performing at high levels. Both are successful little league coaches . . for different teams. It’s in their DNA to hate each other isn’t it?

When rax called out 73’s story about his son ripping those 10 chicken-minis yesterday, I thought the fire had finally been lit. However ‘73 showed good, uncharacteristic restraint and let it rest . . . for now. Hopefully, it’s just simmering and fueling the hate. Use when needed.

3-4 year old car with 40-50k miles is the obvious play. Used cars aren't what they used to be.

Indeed, but even then cars are insanely expensive (to me) these days unless you're cool driving a beat up 18 year old sedan w/ Hail Damage, which we're not.

Wife wants a midsize SUV. 2015 Toyota Highlander w/ 50K miles = 30K. Lol, False.

-My dome is perfection, I wouldn't spend $4 on hair plugs.

- Aretha has the greatest voice ever, male or female. Completely effortless, just opened her mouth and pure soul. Her version of Spanish Harlem is outstanding.

- Higher Learning is a god awful movie.

- 1997 was a great year for movies, namely L.A. Confidential and Good Will Hunting. Both should have won Best Picture over Titanic

- Quade Green isn't our best player, but he's the guy I want to have the ball in the clutch. I trust his decision making and winning mentality.

If you want a reasonably nice ride, I've found certified pre-owned is the way to go without getting murdered on the cost. On our vehicles the certified pre-owned warranty was substantially better than the warranty on a brand new model.

Sorry to talk basketball for a second, but I was trying to think of a UK comparison for Immanuel Quickley's game. And this is only a comparison for olds, but James Blackmon(Sr.) comes to mind. 6-3, could play the 1 through 3, did everything well but not any one thing SUPREMELY well, and outstanding athleticism.

About the only thing Blackmon didn't do well was shoot free throws. And send his son to Kentucky.

Trucks are a close second.
1st if you want one with creature comforts. Bought a new Tundra last Fall after researching trucks for 8 months. To get a full size with any luxuries its insane. But I bit the bullet and got a Platinum. Had to have leather for the pooch and sunroof for myself. :sunglasses:

Touch it, just $.

I like ‘73. I was just bringing back the old “never happened” line Adrian used to throw at every story about kids. I have enough rivals on this website between llama, tommy and wcc. Need to actually bump up my allies tbh
