It's my understanding that there are 12 of our former players on NBA summer league teams. Anyone know who they are, & what teams they are with?

That kid was a top 15 player in the country who spent two years at Kentucky playing the 3 instead of being a natural point guard, did every bit of the dirty work for our team, deferred his own offense and skill set and didn't go all Wendell Carter on his way out.

I know things weren't always smooth with him, but he gave us all he had despite not getting what he signed up for. I respect that.

Think it is a stretch to say he is a natural point guard in today's game. He is an above average ball handler who is an excellent driver and finisher in the lane. Defense is his true calling card.

Hot take...but I've never seen a Kentucky player finish at the rim better than Zay. That little crossover move...and then he'd blast to the rim and finish a layup at any angle...always felt like it was money.

The man could not shoot a lick and still averaged double figures for 2 seasons.
I would put Wall ahead of him but Zay was a monster around the rim.

Hit 39 percent from 3 overseas with not many attempts per game (a very good idea).

I never understood the hate for Briscoe. He was forced to play out of position and was probably our best ball handler. Got Willis a lot of open looks thanks to him driving the ball in half court. He was also a great defender, but did make some silly mistakes...but that kind of happens when you are the one that's loaded with driving the ball.

But the thing that annoyed me the most was how no one ever expected him to improve his shooting. His freshman year was atrociously bad, and his sophomore year he showed progress. I wish he had come back, because he would have shot much better his Junior year. Which is proven with the fact that he shot 39% @ 3 attempts per game. Would have made our team 10x better last year.

Hope he has learned to keep the foot off of the number 4....Good to hear he is doing well.

Briscoe gave up a chance to play point when he decided to go Pro. I wish him luck but I think most of career will be over seas.

If he can ever shoot it half way decent he will stick somewhere. The guy was a ferocious defender and really slippery with the ball.

He can finish below the rim as well as any guard I can remember. Kinda like Kyrie, not nearly on his level but Kyrie finishes around the basket amazingly well for his height/lack of athleticism.

“All the Kentucky questions, I don’t play for Kentucky no more!” Briscoe yelped. “I’m just trying to start fresh.”

I enjoyed my time at Kentucky, it was fine, but I moved on,” he said, declaring that his pro position will be point guard. “Obviously, I wasn’t playing point guard in college, but it is what it is. College is over with. Why we still talking about college? I’m starting a new chapter in my life.”

Zero points and 7 turnovers against South Carolina.

6 turnovers against Georgia.

No offense meant as I generally agree with/enjoy most of your posts, but this isn’t one of them. Damn near every player has bad games. Don’t see the need for all that simply because he wants to start a new chapter. He doesn’t speak ill of Kentucky whatsoever. He played hard even though he knew he was playing out of position. Isn’t like he went all Mrs. Carter....

I really, really hope he makes it. He seems to be improving and I think if he keeps his jump shot at a respectable level he can find a nice role for himself.

Sooo... you chose to try to hijack a generally positive thread by cherry picking 2 of his worst games?

Ok, lemme give it a shot...

I like you, but I must respectfully disagree with your post. I'm too tipsy to adequately elaborate why for the time being, though.

Haven't seen much of his game since leaving UK. Hopefully he latches on. He's going to need a more consistent jumper, hopefully he's worked on and found it.
Agreed. That's really the whole issue for Briscoe. He's got many other intangibles. If he could shoot it consistently, he's a sure-fire NBA point guard. He's probably not a starter, but he's a guy you could bring in and he can help the team. IF he can shoot. I'll cheer him on.

I think you missed my point and it's cool that you disagree, but Briscoe washed his hands of UK when he left. "I don't play for Kentucky no more" so I washed my hands of him. If he doesn't care that he played for UK, then I don't care what he does in the future.
