I hate to say it but, he only got drafted cos of Booker. His height will keep him overseas.
He is a great talent but his height, because of Booker the sun's took great risk.

Sad to hear about that. Love him as a player but can understand why they didn’t keep him after watching him this season. His size is a big issue and he’s a bad nba shooter. If he wasa good shooter I think there would be no chance the suns would have cut him. At his height and lack of explosive athletic ability shooting is very important especially in today’s NBA

Different NBA then and also Earl could shoot (34% three) Spud was a super athlete and all three were good defenders. If Ulis can raise that shooting percentage up 8% from three he could have a long career

If earl boykins or muggsy or spud Webb can make it in the league then Ulis can find a team. Have faith!

Just needs to find the right system and he will be fine. His shooting will come once he gets comfortable with the right system and coaching. Phoenix is dog **** and no real coaching while he was there.

It is about being able to guard off of switches... Just wait and see if Trae Young is able to do that. In my opinion Young is one of the MOST overrated players in some time, but I have been wrong before!

He should have stayed. Was not ready to go to the NBA. We see this all the time at Kentucky. He could have helped us win a championship but they always leave too early.

Young can’t guard a lawn chair but if shoots it well then he’ll always have a home.

Dang some of you are already writing Ulis off as a has been at 22 years old. As I recall Nate Robinson didn’t come out of his draft class doing much better but he has made serious profit from his journeyman career. Ulis could do the same. Give the kid some time.

Not writing him off, but he’s probably not going to get taller, and his shooting percentage isn’t good enough.

The guy is a better shooter than he showed last year. I think he'll find a home as long as he plays decent in summer league and shoots 35%+ from 3 which is doable. His shot was fine at UK, mid range it felt like he was automatic. Sounds like he just needs to get his confidence up or do some film study and see if there is an inconsistency or breakdown in form.

Always felt good about it when Ulis shot...

I agree. His stock would have probably gone down. I haven’t looked it up, but Tyler made a good amount of money the last two years. Not to mention Cal had Fox coming in.

Exactly. I get the argument some have with players leaving too early because it’s true in some cases. However Tyler was definitely not one. Plus, he made more in those two years than you or I would ever make in the same time frame (presumably )

If people think Ulis height isn’t a big reason of his struggles and him falling in the draft then I don’t know what to tell you.

Look at Isaiah Thomas he’s been a pretty good scorer wherever he goes and he’s still getting passed around the league and never got a big contract like he would have it he was over 6 foot.

While I agree with your sentiment what else was TU going to do other than to satisfy the UK fans? The kid has made several million dollars already. The money is what people used to go to college to learn to make. He made a wise decision. A mid-20's player 5'9" wouldn't even get a sniff. (No other career would have netted him that amount that quickly.

Exactly . Staying at Kentucky would have benefited us fans but not Tyler Ulis career in the NBA.

His stock would never have been higher than what it was. Don’t blame him one bit for leaving.

It doesn't follow that his stock would have been lower. Never thot he'd get that second contract that everyone hopes for.

He was a great 4 year college player that was a victim of the system. No other way to put it. His other choice was MSU where he definitely would have played 4 years.

I don't follow your post. In his twenties leaving UK he would have never got what he got in his late teens. He may never make it big in the NBA but the kid is making bank. What reasonable justification could anyone give him to wait? He only played two years and has made at least three million dollars... In comparison 75k for 30 years is 2,250,000.00. His money was made in about or less than 250 games of NBA ball. Come on, no justification for him to stay whatsoever.
