Betcha Reid Travis will be in the First Round if he can stay healthy

Travis' problem is his age.

He turns 23 this year. NBA scouts hate 23-year-old prospects, because they figure their potential has already been tapped out.

But, for a college team, it's great having a grown man with that much experience in your lineup. His age is a good thing for us, but a bad thing for his pro future.

I think we probably lose at least 6 from this years team. Not all 6 to the NBA though..

if cal gets travis to the 1st round of next years draft it will be his greatest draft accomplishment ever.

I agree. But who knows? Trim him down 10 pounds, have him attack for blocks and play aggressive defense, improve the free throw percentage, average a double-double leading a young team to a championship...

I agree and call me crazy but Hagans and Richards could both play themselves into the first round quite easily as well.

You are not crazy about Hagans and Richards.
I agree w/ the other poster who said the NBA will not draft Travis in the 1st because of his age. In the 1st round they are looking for someone who could develop into an all-star. A 3-4 year player has already approached their ceiling. NBA teams value an unknown ceiling more than a known ceiling.

Reid Travis won't put up as many PPG with all of UK's options but you can best believe his talent will gain him more notoriety in the national spotlight more so at a place like Kentucky. He will be drafted no doubt in my mind and that name on the front of the jersey can help out someone times and give you the benefit of the doubt. Not always but mostly get you a chance.

I think Montgomery and Hagans are our best prospects.

Montgomery will be helped by a lack of elite bigs. Bol, Gafford, maybe Porter are really the only guys in that lottery range.

I think Montgomery can be like Jaren Jackson this year, where he's actually a better pro prospect than his minutes and numbers suggest because he has talented returning guys ahead of him whose production probably exceeds his in college. Don't think he's a top five pick like Jackson though.

Oddly enough, we probably have less top end NBA talent than any of our previous teams, but we might have the best blend of actual college players.
