Wiseman and Carey

Wiseman is the proverbial Cal recruit. Every year there is one kid you just know UK will get ( KNight , MKG , Fox , Quickley ect) and it is Wiseman this year . He is too close to Cal and understand he is the coach that will get him where he needs to go. I guess we could get Carey too but I kinda doubt it . People worry way to much about a coach who has never coached a single college game or gotten a single kid to the NBA ( Penny). There is a reason DJ Jefferies has stood by his UK commitment hardcore every time he is asked - it would be folly beyond belief to choose Penny over Cal. I think a class of Wiseman/Maxey/Brooks/Jefferies/Allen and 1 other guard along with 2 other bigs in the top 40 is very possible .
I think you forgot Matthew Hurt. And a reclassified RJ Hampton... and Jalen Lecque...and Josiah James. You might be disappointed a little... that would be one hell of a haul, but you might be setting yourself up for a let down.

Long way to go on both of these imo. I ain't reading a whole lot into anything right now with either of them.
He's the number 1 player in the class. He could go to Tennessee State and still be taken as the #1-3 pick in the draft. I'm not buying into a whole lot of info leading one way or the other, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him stay home and play for someone that he's played for forever now. I believe we'll get one of Wiseman/Carey , Maxey, Jeffries (if we get Wiseman) , Brooks , and Lecque.

Wiseman needs UK to help in areas he's got to improve--toughness, taking plays off, and floating in/out of games. He should dominate the game defensively in the paint and doesn't. He's coasted on talent, needs coaching and it's a rare case you can actually point this out and your biggest rival in the recruitment can't say much because they are part of allowing him to do this as his former AAU/HS Coach. Anthony Davis wasn't a dominant shot blocker in HS--he was good, but at UK we all saw what he turned into. And offensively people forget his evolution--he worked hard early on at UK on low post talent, and by end of year he was allowed to shoot his jumper more and show his all around skill set. The number of made jumpers was rising in February, March, and April because he always had that-just had to master the other facets.
Carey needs to work on low post and defensive end. He loves to face up and play perimeter, but to be versatile he needs to polish his game in paint and defensively he should be a better on the boards. Doesn't have a presence like Wiseman can when he wants/should, but he is huge. Carey plays offensively like Omari Spellman of Villanova (who was Cal's son's teammate in HS) but lacks Spellman's talents on boards and defensive end.

Wiseman just has the feel of a lost recruit, I know that for Penny to succeed he has to convince him to come to Memphis and figure he will sell him that Cal will get a stable load of talent and that he will be in or near the top irregardless of where he goes. We have missed on several of these typr recruits in the last few years and I really believe he will stay with Penny.
Wiseman will not be a top 3 draft pick if he goes to Memphis. I will bet on it.
