Jordan never had to beat a team as good as Golden State. The closest it ever got was the Shaq & Penny Magic. They got them young though and they fell apart before they reached their peak. Talent was more spread out, they had the two best players at their positions, and they always had 2-3 of the best defensive players of all time. That was enough in the 90’s, especially when expansion diluted the league.

Love is good, he’s just In the wrong era. Otherwise, LeBron’s best team mates are Irving and old Wade. I’d still take Pippen.

He’s won three. The only time he’s lost to a team you could even argue is inferior is against Dallas.

First of all, although GS is a fantastic team. would get handily defeated by the Bulls teams of the 90s so they aren't that great. Michael played much tougher opponents leading up to the Finals and beat some extremely strong opponents. The Bulls smashed the Lakers with Magic, Worthy, Perkins, Scott, AC Green. Basically, the same Lakers that dominated the 80s minus the swap of a younger Divac for an old Kareem. He then beat Portland and Phoenix (The Trailblazers were not great but better than the 2011 Mavs and Phoenix was a 62 win team and the best in the NBA that year). When Michael returned, the Bulls beat a 64 win Seattle team and 2 Utah Jazz teams that won 62+ games and had 2 HOFers. The reason they are not considered better is that MJ and the Bulls beat them.

Love is fantastic (a 20-10 guy), Bosh was a HOFer, and Irving and Wade are HOFers. How much more help does LJ need and how many more times is he going to jump ship to get it (I don't count going back to Cleveland as jumping ship because he did that out of love for the area)?

Finally, the league is much more diluted now. There are much fewer good teams because today's great players are afraid to win on their own so they have to join forces.

It's a basketball game, not a biggest nuts competition. LeBron was playing the defense that the Cavs called. Had he freelanced ("I got this!"), it would have created problems with Cleveland's rotations. Hero ball on D while ignoring the defensive scheme is stupid and is losing basketball.

Houston took GSW to seven by executing well with their switch-heavy defense, which forced GSW into absurdly high levels of isolation basketball. Cleveland was executing a slightly modified version of that scheme.
Nonsense. In that situation Golden State is running iso ball regardless. They’re up 3 and milking the shot clock down. The ball is going to KD and he’s not shooting til the end of it. They weren’t trying to force GS into an iso situation.
There was no switch needed. It was the softest screen & KD was still 40 feet out on the floor at the time waiting to run the shot clock on down. Lebron couldn’t wait to get out of there. Watch the replay. He was scared because he knows he’s a horrible on ball defender or maybe because of what KD did to him the year before in the same position.

Even if you were right it still doesn’t excuse Lebron with the most important offensive possession of the season & tiny Curry guarding him and deferring to an already guarded Thompson. Lebron is amazing & a freak of nature but he doesn’t consistently have that killer mentality. Just when you think he’s getting it, he proves you wrong. I wish he did tbh.

Yes. Lebron has had terrible teammates during 3 of his finals runs. In the other 6 he has won a title 50% of the time.

Lebron’s greatness is not dependent on his title runs. Its the fact that he is 6’9 behemoth that can play any game, style, pace and is a virtually unstoppable individual force. If he had Jordan’s supporting cast, and particularly his coach he would be 9-0 currently in the NBA finals.

9-0 huh? What about the years that his big three in Miami lost to Dirk Nowitzki? A declining San Antonio team? Bosh and Wade are 2 VERY GOOD supporters. Wade is going to go down as probably a top 50 player of all time. And he lost to Dirk? c'mon now.

Not commenting on the 9-0 stuff, but again LeBrons teams have been favoured in only 2 of the 9 finals. He took two of the most terrible rosters in history to the finals in 07 and 18. No doubt the Mavericks loss was inexcusable and it's fair to criticize over that. Those Spurs however were great and knew how to win. Obviously. Again I just do not get the LeBron hate. It's pathetic. The league is going to suffer when he retires.

Winnington Are you kidding?

Granted Pippen was an all-timer but would he have improved as much without Jordan? He was very unheralded when drafted and grew into a great player. Does that happen on another team?

For all the belly aching that LBJ and commentators do re: his lack of help, can't say MJ was constantly surrounded by a ton of talent other than Pippen. A bunch of role players or good players on the downside of their career.

Is MJ's supporting cast being overrated? LBJ has had several squads that would compare very favorably with MJ's.
You forgot all the Refs !

The late 90’s Bulls teams could matchup well defensively. I wouldn’t just give it to them though because you are playing multiple zero’s offensively to do so.

Claiming there were multiple teams that were much better than this Warriors team is either ignorance or facetiousness.

We’re talking about an all time team. Could the best Jordan team beat the best 80’s Celtic or Laker team? That doesn’t diminish Jordan’s greatness to question that, those teams were loaded. Just as this Warriors team is.

I bet four players currently on the Warriors make the Hall of Fame. We can have the discussion about whether they should or not, but with the current standards, I find it hard to believe otherwise.

Claiming LeBron has always been on loaded teams requires completely ignoring context. Wade was clearly starting to decline after the first Miami season with LeBron. I agree Bosh is a Hall of Famer. However, looking at the teams they played in the finals, outside of maybe against Dallas, he was never a top 4 player on the floor. I agree Love is good, but against the Warriors he can’t guard anyone, and they always do a good job of nullifying his advantages, which is why I say he is in the wrong era. Back in the 90’s or 80’s he’d be amazing. Kyrie is great, but he wasn’t always healthy, and he would not be enough against this current Warriors team, as we saw last year.

For the last part, I’ll repeat that it is either ignorance or facetiousness. The league is as loaded as it’s been since the late 80’s. It might be more concentrated then you’d like, but still.

Fair enough. But what I don't understand is people saying how terrible the Cavs were those years. You do realize that most years Lebrons Cavs teams were 1 or 2 in the East. That means for an entire season, they were the 1st or 2nd best team in the east.
I think Lebron James will go down as the greatest player ever but I am not ready to crown him yet.
And another thing that annoys me is people saying LBJ > MJ and are kids who didn't even watch Jordan play. Jordan has been out of the league since 1998, 20 years. So if you are not at least 28, you really have no argument.
That's why I can't say older players are better than Jordan because I never watched them.

That was a slow response. I expected something at least within a day. I will hit these one at a time.

1. Ray Allen is a HOFer, John Paxson was never even close.
2 and 3. I love Scottie but his forte was defense and transition scoring. Even when MJ left, Phil Jackson called plays for Toni Kukoc (leading to Scottie sulking one time). Lebron had much more offensive help but far less defensive help. MJ basically had the ball in his hands almost every big offensive play in almost every game of his entire career. That was his role. Lebron could be that guy but defers. I wish he hadn't deferred in Game 1 because Cleveland would have one if he took the last shot. Lebron is smart enough to know the best shot to win was him taking that shot. He should have only passed if he would double-teamed. As it was, George Hill was not wide open for a layup (otherwise he wouldn't have been fouled) and is not the guy I would want even simply shooting free throws with the game on the line. Lebron has to want that shot. He is too good to pass on a shot of that importance.
4. Lebron constructed that Miami team of 4 HOFers (RA was older) with the help of a HOF GM. That isn't shallow, that is fact. 3 of those players were All-Stars in 2014. San Antonio had 1 All-Star. How can you expect a team to give you more help than that? If you can't be favored with that kind of firepower, when can you be favored. How Miami lost to SA by the largest margin of victory ever in the finals is beyond me. Injuries played a part but Scottie was injured in 1998 quite a bit and MJ still propelled the Bulls to victory.
5. How many clips of NBA greats calling Michael Jordan an assassin or the most competitive man they ever saw do you want me to send your way? This really isn't contested. Michael Jordan was a cold blooded basketball killer. Lebron is great but doesn't have a competitive drive like MJ. Do you still listen to AM radio? Do you also have a 8 track tape player?
6. You have not thrown out fact or even proof. You are like Lebron apologist Nick Wright. The fact is Lebron didn't win in Cleveland in his first stay. He got frustrated, created a super team in Miami, went 2 for 4, got frustrated again, created another super team in Cleveland (I love that he went back to help the Cavs fans and the city of Cleveland), went 1 for 3, pissed off the 2nd best player on the team enough to make him want to leave, and now will leave again because he is again frustrated. Lebron is a great player with amazing stats but I see him more like a Wilt Chamberlain than an MJ. Still great but not the greatest.

Have a very happy Father's Day weekend.

Happy belated Father's Day to you as well. Listen, I could go off on this yet again, but I can't try to reason someone into a position they didn't reason themselves into in the first place. Your arguments on #1 and #4 show your lack of reasoning and suffer from the same flaw: shallowness. Yes, Ray is a HOFer. But he wasn't that caliber when he was with Miami. And when analyzing teams you look at the entire team and not just # of All Stars or HOFers (at whatever point in their careers they are). Your analysis focuses on the top end and ignores everything else, which is shallow and wrong.

As an example of how wrongheaded your entire system of analysis is, that 2014 Spurs team had one of the best playoff runs in NBA history, and is rated very highly by any serious analyst, yet you dismiss them as "1 All Star." Sports books (who have to be objective to stay in business) and every single objective rating system in existence favored the "1 All Star" team. That's facts.

Your #6 is just pure nonsense. #5 who effing cares? And if an 80+% FT shooter hits 2/2 at the line (about a 65% chance), then you'd be saying that LeBron made the right play. You know, like MJ apparently did with the Paxson shot in 1993. And in both instances, you seem to be judging by the result rather than the process, which is dead wrong. So even if you're right re: game 1 (math and objective evidence says you're not), your entire mode of thinking is wrong.

P.S. - the AM radio remarks are not about the dated technology (and 8-tracks?), but about the level of "analysis" that goes about as deep as "RINGZ!" and "All Stars" and "HOFers!" The modern analogue is Skip Bayless or Steven A. Smith. Later, Skip!

It's not just that. It's that they're all in their primes, and KD and Curry are two of the top 5 (really top 3) players in the league when healthy. So it's not like the Heat with a 37/38 year old Ray Allen and a Wade that, by the 2013 and 2014 seasons, had declined precipitously (WS/48 from ~ 0.220 to 0.192 and 0.149) and was unable to play more than a week straight without health issues (and he was significantly worse in the playoffs those 2 years by every stat and the eye test).

The 2011 Finals, sure (LeBron was oddly passive and Wade was healthy and playing well). But to dismiss those Spurs teams as "declining" shows me you don't really watch basketball. 2013 Spurs were 3rd in SRS (barely behind the Heat, and far behind the Thunder), then in 2014 were the clear best team in basketball and had a dominating playoff run (one of the best in the last 30 years). The Spurs were favored both years for good reason. And despite not being a HOFer, Danny Green's first 5 games in the 2013 Finals were absolutely ridiculous (25-38 from 3 and lockdown defense).

Dude, you clearly don't know what help defense is, how defensive rotations work, or how modern NBA defenses work. At all. Your entire post smacks of one on one D, but no one plays straight up man anymore (and they haven't since, I don't know, about 2006?), especially against any variant of the beautiful game Spurs (like GSW is). Cleveland switched nearly every screen on and off ball because that was the defense they ran all Finals. Houston executed the switching defense to perfection, while Cleveland bungled it on many occasions (bad defenders running a new scheme will do that), but the defense is the defense.

Look, I'm not going to argue with someone who doesn't even know what defense Cleveland was running all Finals (let alone why), and who uses phrases like "scared" and "killer mentality" and thinks they're making a point. Just know that blowhards like Skip Bayless that argue this nonsense get paid handsomely to be wrong. You're doing it for free.

If you're not at least 35 years old I don't know how the hell you can have an opinion about jordan, if you are younger than that you were like 5 during his prime.
His prime was in their championship years, 91-93. To be five years old at the end of that prime, one would have to have been born in 88. Someone born in 88 would be turning 30 this year.

First of all, those Bulls teams not only were a lock-down defensive team but they had the most unstoppable non-center offensive force ever. The reason the Bulls teams were so great is that the team was built around Michael and Scottie with great complementary players that knew their roles. Lebron has never allowed that to happen because he does too much, takes teams as far as his amazing talents can take them, and then he leaves.

I didn't say multiple teams of the 90s were better. Go back and carefully read my post again.

Those Bulls teams in the 90s could beat those Lakers and Celtics teams. MJ, with a starting lineup that included Dave Corzine, Kyle Macy, and Orlando Woolridge, pushed the one of the great teams of all time (the 1986 Celtics) in 2 games at the Boston Garden before falling in 3. The 1991 team beat the Lakers in 5 with the only change in the LA lineup being a swap of an old Kareem for a young Divac (plus adding Sam Perkins).

The Warriors have 2 sure HOFers on the team. Green and Thompson are not HOFers yet.

As for Lebron's teams, he basically put those teams together. They were loaded as they had 3 All-Stars on each team (Michael usually only had 1 All-Star on his team). Wade averaged almost 22 per game in Lebron's 4 years there. To put that into context, Scottie only had 1 year in his career that he averaged 22 pts. Kevin Love is an outstanding player (a career double-double guy) and he can guard but has rarely been used right in Cleveland. Besides, Lebron could have had Andrew Wiggins but didn't want to play with him. As for Kyrie being hurt, in 1998 (the Bulls last Championship run), Scottie Pippen played 44 regular season games and was injured throughout the playoffs. By the way, KI still averaged almost 24 ppg in the playoffs during his time in Cleveland (SP averaged almost 17 in '98).

Finally, the league as a whole is diluted. Superstars are afraid to play on their own and build a team (Lebron not wanting Wiggins is a perfect example) so they call each other up. Kevin Durant had the Warriors on the ropes (up 3-1) and still left to play with the team that beat him. In today's game, players can get the $$$ and the rings because everyone is paid so much that taking less is no big deal. Also, there is no competition. How many of us saw another Cleveland/GS matchup. There are only 2 or 3 teams each year that can make the Finals and no teams like the Knicks, Pacers, and Heat teams that Michael had to beat in the East every year. The league, post Durant to GS, is a joke from a competitive standpoint. The disease of chasing rings and immediate gratification (as opposed to building a team step by step) is destroying the league, IMO.

The league is full of beta superstar players (and some alphas) chasing rings. The exception was Golden State before Durant. KD was up 3-1 against GS but still left to join them the next year. In the 90s, the best players wanted to beat each other, not join together like the Justice League. Talent may be up but heart is severely lacking. If the best players don't win 1 year, they move on to the next team. That is pathetic.

+1. Wade's 2011 and 2012 were up with Pippen, but his 2013 and 2014 were severe drop-offs. Pippen overall was much better than anyone that LeBron played with (and it's clear with things like All-NBA awards).
Pippen is better than Wade overall but Pippen even when Scottie was injured (playing only a bit more than half the games in the 1998 regular season and being injured the entire playoffs), MJ took on the scoring burden and they won. The Warriors with Durant are outstanding but other than that team, Michael faced tougher competition when looking at his road to the Finals and he played with equal talent to Lebron. The difference is team philosophy. Had Phil Jackson been coaching the Heat or Cavs with Lebron, he would have told LJ to stop doing so much. Lebron's stats would have shrunk a bit but he would have 1 or 2 more championships IMO.

His prime was in their championship years, 91-93. To be five years old at the end of that prime, one would have to have been born in 88. Someone born in 88 would be turning 30 this year.

Wade averaged almost 22 per game in Lebron's 4 years there. To put that into context, Scottie only had 1 year in his career that he averaged 22 pts.

Besides, Lebron could have had Andrew Wiggins but didn't want to play with him.

The league is full of beta superstar players

Talent may be up but heart is severely lacking.

PPG comparison without even acknowledging efficiency or any other areas of basketball (or Wade's severe drop-off in 2013-14)? Thinking Wiggins is good? Beta? Heart lacking? [roll]

Tim Duncan retired after the 2016 season. He was on his last leg that year. Ginobili and Tony Parker were declining as well. If you would have came at me in the Kawhi Leonard then maybe, but you're telling me that Danny Green single handily beat the loaded Heat?
Cmon now, that Spurs team had a 62-20 record during the regular season and the Heat finished with a record of 54-28. I will give you that the East was down but to say that Spurs team was one of the best playoff teams of all time, cmon now. Their series went 4-3, 4-1, 4-2, and 4-1. Not the dominating effort you seem to think.
And if you can sit there and tell me that the Spurs had 1 player better than Lebron or Wade (Maybe even Bosh) then you're crazy.

lol at the notion that Tim Duncan was basically washed up in 2014. He wasn't at his peak anymore, but he averaged 16 and 9 in the playoffs with a 21.16 PER. That ranked 6th for all players who played more than one round, 8th for players who played 30+ minutes a game.

Tony Parker was on the decline as well, but he was still an All-Star in 2014 and named 2nd-Team All-NBA.

Wish the Celtics could have a few more washed up games playing like a top player in the playoffs or earning All-NBA!

But people still just keep on dismissing the whole coaching advantage his Finals opponents almost always have. People like to say the NBA is a players league, and it is to a degree, but there's a reason why the same coaches keep winning over and over again no matter where they are. There's a reason why a guy like Popovich or Brad Stevens can often take inferior overall rosters and frequently beat teams with better rosters.

  1. Duncan was still awesome. Look at something that measures actual impact on winning (like RAPM or RPM or adjusted plus/minus). He was the same player as 10 years before on a per minute basis, but played less minutes due to age.
  2. I didn't say that about Danny Green. But sometimes the difference between winning and losing is role players stepping up. Green set the NBA Finals 3 point shooting records, and he did it in five games. He's a big reason why the Heat were down in that series. Once he reverted, so did the Spurs.
  3. It's 2018. If you're talking playoff record without mentioning opposition or point differential, you're still in 2005. But read this. Or this. Or this.
  4. The Spurs did not have a player better than LeBron. Better than Wade and Bosh? Yes. Did you even watch those finals? in 2014 Wade was a trashcan masquerading as a high volume usage player. The Spurs had 6 players with higher cumulative game scores (the eye test confirms this as well). 2013 he was maaaaybe the second best player. And, I can't believe I have to keep repeating this, there is more to basketball than the top 3 guys on each side. So even if LeBron, Wade, and Bosh were the three best players (they weren't), it still might not matter. It's a team sport.

I don't disagree that Phil Jackson would have gotten LeBron over the hump at least one more time (probably 2011). But do you see the irony is 1) criticizing LeBron for making the correct basketball play and not going into the teeth of GSW's defense (which was keyed on him), and 2) saying that LeBron does too much? You're not internally consistent. Phil had Paxson (1993) and Kukoc (1995) take last second shots instead of MJ and Pippen, respectively. In other words, he would absolutely have wanted LeBron to pass to a streaking Hill for either a layup or foul.

The biggest difference between Lebron and Michael is that Michael knew exactly when to take over and when to let his teammates do more. Michael knew at the end of the game that the ball needed to be in his hands. He only passed when he had to. The reason Paxson in 93 got the shot was that Scottie turned and drove to the lane instead of passing it back to Michael. Scottie passed to Grant near the hoop who passed it back to Paxson. Look at '91, '97, '98. Michael only passed when he got doubled. The reason he didn't dominate in '96 is that Seattle double and triple teamed him.

Kukoc took the shots when MJ retired because he is more clutch than Scottie. People always talk about how losing MJ didn't hurt the Bulls in 1994. The problem with that is that the team other than Michael stayed the same and added a very good player in Kukoc.

Lebron does too much during the game and then in crunch time or when a hoop is needed, he passes to guys like Hill or Thompson despite not being double teamed. That is why Lebron is 3-6 and has gotten pummeled in 3 of those 6 series losses. Lebron is good but not great at determining when to take over and control the game and when to let others help. Michael tried to do everything before 1990 and Phil convinced him to let others work with him. Guys like Grant, Cartwright, Armstrong, Hodges, Livingston, and Scott Williams in the first 3-peat and Harper, Rodman, Kukoc, Longley, Wennington, Kerr in the 2nd 3-peat knew exactly what their job were and when they were needed. They all were very good at those jobs when they were with the Bulls but were not as good after their time in Chicago. You could argue that players have a harder time playing with Lebron than those that played around Michael (and not because MJ was a nice guy, which he wasn't). Michael would take over in the 4th and had the ball in his hands for almost every big shot during that time (1993 Phoenix Game 6 being the lone exception for the reasons stated above). Lebron should have been doing the same. If Lebron was doubled or Hill was wide open, he should pass. Otherwise, keep the ball and shoot it a few seconds to go. I can almost see the winning shot from Lebron over Curry.

You're listening to drive time 1620 with Rick and the Sports Dog!

You can Bill James the situation all you want. Wade was a fantastic player, even in 2013-14, at least as good as Pippen was in 1997-1998, and Wiggins could have been a great fit in Cleveland, learning under the best player in the game today. Lebron sets up these superteams then complains when he loses.

And absolutely, players today have less heart, drive, and intestinal fortitude than players in the 10, 20, 30 years ago. Very few superstars want a team built around them and then to go out and beat the best. Players were rather join teams with other superstars than grow a team and win on their own. That makes them beta players. MJ would never have joined the Pistons, Lakers or Celtics just to win. It took him 7 years to win a title. It took older Isiah Thomas 8 years to win in Detroit. Even Kobe wanted to do things on his own. Lebron and other current players plan these things like kids plan dates. I can see the note now--do you want to join me in Los Angeles..Y or N (please circle one). I am obviously joking but if these players are going to play GM, player, (and coach, in some cases), they should get paid more but also stop complaining when they don't win championships.

I hated Jerry Krause who was the GM for the Bulls during Michael's time in Chicago. He was arrogant and liked to pretend he was a CIA agent. Having said that, I miss the days when GMs and coaches put teams together and players played on those teams. Now the best players do everything including picking coaches and teammates. Maybe the superstar players can start their own league. They have the money and obviously want to do it all on their own. That is until they lose. Then they want to blame everyone around them.

You're just embarrassing yourself now. Stop. LeBron has more buzzer beating game winners in the playoffs than Jordan already. And a better FG% on those shots. See also. But you keep on with the narrative of "in crunch time or when a hoop is needed, he passes to guys like Hill or Thompson." You're living in July 2011 (LeBron was bad in the Mavs series, but things have changed since then).

Let's discuss the single play that you seem to be obsessed with. Here's the clip. Hill cut into the lane and Klay already had a hand on him when LeBron made the pass. That's a guaranteed foul call, with the possibility of an and-one. Look and see all 5 Warriors are keyed in on LeBron, with Durant and Green, two defenders who match up well with LeBron, near the horns, respectively. LeBron's advantage over Curry is size, which means that to assert that advantage LeBron has to drive or back him down (LeBron's also great at stepbacks, but that's a lower % shot in general, see below). There's 8.1 seconds left and two very good defenders in the way of that. So it's a nice matchup when there's time to run action off of it (one of the advantages is that LeBron backing down/driving bends the help D and forces an open look elsewhere, but that takes time to develop, hence less valuable with less time), but everyone is looking for LeBron to drive or back Curry down because he's a late-game assassin, especially in recent years.

Hill is a ~ 80% FT shooter. The odds of him making both shots and taking the lead is 65%. The odds of him making at least one shot is 96%. So there is a 96% chance of a positive outcome (tying the game), and a 65% chance of a very positive outcome (taking the lead). Buzzer beaters and late game heroic shots historically are about a 35% chance of going in (probably because the dumb narrative of hero ball that people like you push, aka the Kobe). LeBron played out of his mind in game 1 (and he's clutch, as stats prove), so let's bump that up to 50% that he hits the shot. That's a ~43% bump for being awesome at basketball and clutch moments, which is wildly high but it doesn't matter. Because LeBron, awesome at basketball and awesome in clutch situations, taking that shot is still far less of a good outcome than Hill shooting those FTs. Even if you think LeBron has a 65% chance of making a shot (a wholly unrealistic expectation), it was still the right basketball play, period.

All of the above is fact. Your comeback to this will probably be a variant on what you've regurgitated before, which is the sort of non-disprovable crap (beta, not clutch, soft, whatever) used to justify a narrative, which is your schtick.

(you also seem to overlook LeBron putting the Cavs up two the possession before with an and-one. Just because it's not a literal buzzer beater doesn't mean it's not clutch, but it doesn't fit your narrative and if one thing has been made abundantly clear it's that you push your narrative despite the facts)

Look, I am a Bulls fan and I'm old enough to remember the Bulls losing to the Pistons over and over and wondering if we could ever get over the hump. I watched probably 90% of their playoff games and 50% of their regular season games from 1989-ish to 1998. And I agree with you wholeheartedly on screw the Jerrys. I also used to be in the LeBron is not clutch camp. But I've also watched the last 6 years of basketball and seen the change in LeBron. And I've become a better and smarter fan than ever before by listening to and following the right people. I was swayed by evidence and not stuck in my narrative. Follow the evidence, man. FFS, you have all the tools. And for what it's worth, I have LeBron #2 behind MJ. And LeBron is still awesome and amazing and I don't have to make up BS to fit some dumb narrative that I clutch like my grandmother's pearls. You do you, but your current mindset sucks.

You seem to think I don't like Lebron. That is the opposite of the truth. I am from Ohio. I loved that Lebron came back to Ohio to win a championship for the city of Cleveland. I think the world of Lebron and his skills. You made my point about in your diatribe above. Lebron is clutch and hits game winners. How many game-winning shots or free throws does George Hill have in the playoffs?

Now, let's review that play. The clock starts at 8.1 and both Durant and Green are slowly creeping in. Lebron surprisingly seems to be looking to pass from the outset and throws it with about 5.4 seconds. You are correct, KT already had a hand on Hill before the pass so the media claim that Hill had a wide-open layup is false. The pass was risky from the start because Hill is tangled up with Thompson and a foul might not be called (sometimes the refs let them play in that situation). Lebron, with a much shorter guy on him, had 3 plays. The first was to do what he did. The second was to dribble to his left, get the double team and pass to Smith for a wide open shot (also risky IMO). Finally, he simply could have held it 1 more second and shot over Curry for the game winner on a night when he was shooting lights out on the road against a superior opponent. Even if Hill made both free throws, there was too much time left on the clock for a Warriors team with 3 great shooter. I wanted LJ to shoot and win it. I haven't rooted for GS since Durant got there and I like the Cavs. I don't know why LJ was looking to pass the whole time but he was. That play changed the series.

As for your other comments, my issue is that your boorish posts and arrogant attitude about your supposed basketball knowledge make this board less fun than it should be. You are obviously covering up for an insecurity that probably needs some examination but it still isn't right. I get it. You can be a big man on this board and dazzle everyone with your knowledge, demeaning those that disagree with you. That kind of faux swagger plays well in this society. It doesn't mean anything to me. If you want to argue on merit (and you make some very good points), I am fine with that. I will never agree with you about that final play. Lebron is clutch and was playing amazing ball. IMO, he should have passed only if he had to. My position is not based on the outcome but what I was thinking at the time.

And one final thought on Lebron. I have argued for a decade that he was the best player in the NBA. I argued that he was better than Kobe and that he would win multiple championships (when it didn't look like he would). I hated when he left Cleveland but still like the player. My problem is that his fans just won't stop. He can't simply be #2 when I believe strongly that he is. I saw almost every game MJ played from 1984 to 1989 and watched as many games as possible after that. I never worried when the game was tight. Michael missed shots (Game 1 of the 1991 NBA finals for example) but I didn't want the ball in anyone else's hands. I felt like the Cavs had Game 1, score tied, ball in Lebron's hands. I couldn't believe he passed it and worse, looked like he was going to pass it from the start. Now Lebron is leaving Cleveland again and we won't see a player of his incredible talent for decades. It is sad that he didn't go out firing.
