He's good but I'll take the big kid from Stanford for a year and then make room for Carey, Wiseman, + Richards(likely).
Plus the Standard kid doesn't have all the red flags
If the UK staff thinks Bassey is good to go then I'd be happy with the addition but I think we have better options all things considered. Especially in the current environment of CBB and all the dirt surfacing.

A. We’re not taking Bassey. If we would have, there’d have already been contact. We shouldn’t jeopardize what we’re doing for one player.
B. It sure as heck sounds like Wiseman isn’t reclassifying. We look to be in a fine spot for him in ‘19, but I really don’t think the reclass thing is gonna go down. He’s awful young and his mother wants him to continue to be a kid.

Red flags? Then he should go to Duke. He should be cleared in about 7 days, ya know, like Bagley.
WKU being his apparent leader should tell you all you need to know about him and his recruitment.

Don't forget about Matthew Hurt guys.He is a damn good player.He has good skills and would make a great addition for us from the 2019 class.I think we have a really good chance at getting him
We really should pursue the kid from Stanford for the year. Experienced, good, etc. Wiseman seems clear that there will be no re-classifying. So, the position is his as the Stanford kid is a one year deal. Seems ideal.
WKU has the inside track. Bassey’s guardian is also related to former WKU grad transfer Junior Lomomba and is the guardian of current player Mustapha Diange. Rumors are that WKU took those two (neither contributed much) in order to get in position for Bassey. He took a visit once already and current 247 crystal ball has him 100% to WKU.
Skillwise
Yes. A new prep school called, "Aspire." His guardian was given a job there.
He doesn’t really have much of a choice in where he goes, It’s all being directed by his “handler” and he will struggle with eligibility.
Duke could sign him today, and he would be eligible tonight.
I watched him play in Dayton a few months ago. He’s physically imposing and has good skills but he’s not a “need”. He was actually outplayed by Isaiah Stewart in the game I saw. I don’t think Cal should necessarily put a priority in him.
At this point, I’d be most excited to see PJ and Vandy starting at the 5/4 next season, with Richards and Gabriel in reserve.
Cal hasn't forgotten about him at all. I think he is pretty serious about him, Carey, and Wiseman. Super nice pieces to rotate 4-5. If Hurt can guard 3s (or I guess any of them would work) then watch out.
By the way... the kid from Stanford is going to enter the draft....... he has to remove his name from the draft before anyone gets a chance at him being a grad transfer... so basically dont even consider him a possibility until he pulls his name out

I'm ignorant to this situation...Can someone explain how Bassey & Josh Green were eligible to play in yesterday's game? So future recruits can play in that game? I thought the McDonald's, Jordan Brand & Nike Hoops Summit games were exclusively for the current HS seniors in that year's recruiting class. Don't misconstrue this as me thinking they should or shouldn't have been allowed. I'm just trying to get an understanding.

Nike Hoops Summit is selected by promoters. Class doesn't matter.
Yeah, but he has puke written all over him. As for bassey, I'm sure there are some things we don't know much like ayanton as to why cal isn't recruiting him hard. I'm sure if the issue is resolved cal will be all over him
