I don't see a slow release on his shot, especially for how high the release point is.

And to be blunt, it doesn't matter in college. Guys do a terrible job of closing out. It's just a matter of being a make or miss guy.

The shot is there. Especially with the role he'll be playing. If Lonzo Ball can be a dynamic 3 point shooter in college, Tyler Herro won't have any issue. On the catch and shoot, even SGA got his off cleanly.

Agree. And I don't think it's so much a slow release as it is a lot of lower body motion to elevate. He dips a little to get a big jump.

That can be fixed, if it even has to be. The release itself is sweet, and pretty quick once the ball gets up over his head.

Really looking forward to seeing this kid in the Hoop Summit, which is generally a decent scouting vehicle. Guys who look legit in that game are usually legit in college and beyond. Luke Kennard kind of made a statement in that game a few years ago (that he wasn't just some small-town scorer who would get eaten up once he faced bigger, more athletic defenders), hopefully Herro does the same.

Umm, he is nothing like Kemba. Kemba was a drive and dish player who learned a decent mid-r6ange shot. Hero is a pure shooter, primarily behind the line.
They're is a article with several high level players in the 18 class Tre jones, romeo, and a few others guys saying that he's got more then just a shot talking about him being tough and has a complete offensive game ....I'll try to find it and post it for ya.

Oh thanks but I did read that. He sounds like quite a player.

Slow release? What the hell. You must not watch much basketball. It isn’t the release that is so important. It’s being ready to shoot. This kid thinks shoot the second he sees ball on its way. He won’t have any trouble getting shot off. Good grief. I thought he was a very quick shooter.

He drifts a lil on some of his shots, but that release and hand position are always the same...you could take five different pictures of five different jumpshot and put them side by side and hand position and head/eye position the same.
He adds a lil more upper body strength and core strength he will feast at the line.
Can't wait to have him on campus...read that he maybe training with Booker's trainer..great stuff
Yep, his shot position control reminds me of Mark Price. Amazing. He's a real shooter.

Dude looks pretty quick and strong this video, shades of Booker I swear. Not sure where the whole sentiment of him being relatively unathletic came from. His play is right there for everyone to look at and it's easy to see he's got game lol

Great comparison, if he could be just a quarter as good we are definitely lucky to have him 40.5% career 3pt shooter, 90.2% ft
Glad to have him, unlike some on this board, I think he will be a complete stud the first day on campus

People are realy underestimating this kid, he is going to be really good at UK. I've seen him play a few times. He plays against good competition and they usually have 2-3 guys running at him. He is a natural scorer. Reminds me a lot of Devin Booker.

You’ve seen him play in person?

Strengths and Weaknesses?

I think that’s what I meant. Like the entire shot from start to finish looks like it takes a while to get off. Do u think he’ll have a hard time getting shots off at this level?
It looks like it might be an issue off catch and shoot type deals, because he always brings the ball from down low, then up into his shot (that's where his good head fake will come in to play), but in that video he was shooting off the dribble a lot. In that case coming from low into his shot doesn't hurt because the dribble already has the ball low, and the defender is playing the dribble, so he's low too.

The part of his game that no one has mentioned in this thread is his attitude.

When I saw him talk **** to the crowd against Shaq's AAU team, and bark back when they started yapping at him, that's all I needed. He's got game, lets you know about it, and he backs it up.

Love the attitude, and can't wait to see him and Johnson on the court next season.
