Kevin Knox decision "imminent"

He could have. But he's still projected as a late lottery type guy and who knows what happens at the combine and team workouts. There could be someone drafting 8th or 9th that loves his game and tells him they want to draft him there. IMO there is still too much important information that is unknown for him to decide to come back. He could pull a Bridges though and say he wants another year of college and the NBA can wait.
Yeah, see him making a decision now, before the workouts, indicates to me that he could be serious about coming back. It's just too tough to really tell without knowing him on a personal level.
Miles Bridges returning for his sophomore year blew me away, hopefully he didn't lose any money by returning.

I think he will leave or stay one of the two. I think he stays because he doesn't have to go. Doesn't need the money, doesn't need stay if he doesn't want to stay but I think he does so I think he will in the end choose to stay or maybe go, whichever he chooses I will be ok with unless he decides to go and I don't want that to happen. If he stays he could be a top 5 next year, unless he doesn't play well and drops down to a top 10, which isn't bad as being number 11. Either way I'm good.
Clear as mud

Can you put a price on a Championship? Plus Noah grew up European, whom had different value system. Money does not equal happiness. Especially to those who have it.

I agree with you but in both examples I gave, they already won a championship and were projected as the top pick. That's crazy to me regardless of circumstances because there's very little reason to come back. In Leinart's case, he already won two titles and a Heisman.

Could Cal have adjusted his recruiting strategy to start having more upper class men? I think Shai, Baker, Quade, and PJ showed that he was doing this. Top 50 talent who could play immediately but have tremendous upside...hmm

Joakim Noah bypassed being the No. 1 pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. Matt Leinart did it in the 2005 NFL Draft. Those type of things always surprises me. Both won national titles the previous year and returned. Leinart said he just loved college life and it was so short that he wasn't ready to leave.

Those type of scenarios blow me away.

And Tyler Hansbrough turning down 1st round money to return for a senior year and win a title.

Does he wait till after the SGA announcement? If he is going to stay it will be before but if he is leaving it will be after?

What more could we want or expect?

The kid has an amazing opportunity to achieve his ultimate goal and become a millionare as a teenager. AS A TEENAGER.

He sees the value and appreciates the life at UK. Cant blame him either way, Im just glad its in consideration and not an immediate "Im gone" like some players have already done for other schools.
And the great thing for him is, if he does come back he will still be a teenager when he goes pro next year.

I think both players loved the experience of college so much that money didn't matter. Maybe played for their teammates and the name on front of the jersey. If Wiseman we're to reclassify and join UK, we may see our own version of this...
We caught a glimpse w/ Harrison twins.
Hope Knox would like to pursue greatNess while in a Kentucky uni. Time will tell.
All I can say if he does...BBN will be insufferable in a good way. Go Big Blue!!!

If you're only concerned about money then I guess that's a reason to go. There is more than one reason someone might choose to stay.

He will do whats right for him, which is what anybody with half a brain would do. Regardless, UK is going to be a top 5 team next year.

Getting Knox back is HUGE (of course). Getting PJ and a healthy JV back would be fantastic. Along with Green and Baker, we’d have a nice shooting team with Herro and Quickly. And if Gabriel comes back, I think he can work himself into the first round next year. And PJ can get to the Lottery, and Knox into the Top 5.

I see a man child with Knox. I think the kid needs some social maturity. I think his parents know that. If it was me and i had the financial security to allow for it. Meaning I could afford insurance vs bodily harm and things like that securing my son's future that I wouldnt think twice about sending him back to school.

I have a sneaky feeling he will be back and that this was the plan all along. He is very young and of course came to UK knowing he could possibly be OAD, but due to his age he and his family know he has a lot of growing up to do before he is ready for the NBA grind. I suspect one big reason he chose UK was because he would be given every opportunity to prove he was ready in one year, but never really expected to.

Noah's parents were well to do, professional sports, believe Leinart similar parents well to do.

Worth noting that so was Knox’s dad. Played in the NFL as a WR I think. We’ve never heard of any money issues with them, in fact, quite the opposite.

His father, unlike some here, is thinking of his sons future career, not instant money. It was obvious to anyone with experience that Knox didn't have a lot of confidence this season. Returning might be just what he needs.

But will anyone learn? No.

Maybe you are right but since SGA has announced when he will make his decision public maybe Knox wouldn't want to undercut him.I 'm probably over thinking this but if I were Knox wouldn't undercut a teammate
He won't . Cal has all this orchestrated like every year, my guess we will here from a player a day. Shai is up first like I said last week. My guess is Knox or pj will be Wednesday and Thursday.

Folks are looking at this wrong. The last thing I expect is “I’m coming back.” This is a question of ‘NBA or bust’ versus declare without an agent to check options for the lottery.

The Cal hatin’ crew will have a field day either way.

Yes he did . The ideal recruiting class ( lets say of 6 players ) is 2-3 one and done , 2-3 2-3 year players and maybe 1 4 year player. That provides elite talent , consistency and leadership down the road.

I think Knox is in a more unique situation than any other possible OAD that we have had here because of the reasons you cite. His dad's background gives him(dad) more insight and a better understanding of the process and how to go about making such a decision.Knox may well leave but he will do so with more understanding of what lies in store than most any other kid I can think of,with Booker being the exception.

Why I think we might hear that SGA is going pro and signing with an agent on tuesday , then KNox coming back on Wed , then Diallo leaving thursday and then PJ coming back on Friday. I sorta think JV and WG won't be announcements even just statements about them coming back .

Unless someone is so starved for cash they can't feed baby brother, their future career placement should come first. Better decisions are made if money is not at the beginning of the thought process.

I get people here don't have a lot of money and think if it was them they'd just want the money. Then listen to them later and they say they'd rather retire and sit on a beach.

Guys like Knox need to think about chasing Jordan, and making a legacy that will survive after they're gone. A little money on the front end will not give you a place in the community of immortality.

Most people are unable to separate these experiences. The great ones do.

Tons of posts with no one of course having any clue. He is definitely going to return, absolutely no doubt. Hope that concludes this for all.

From the article:

"Meantime, here’s what Knox Sr. said about the family’s thought process heading into their discussion last week:

“He really loves his teammates and he made references to: ‘Man, can you imagine if we all came back?’ Him and PJ [Washington] are roommates and they were talking about it with Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander]: ‘Can you imagine if we all came back what would happen?’ Man, that would be exciting,

“He was like, ‘Daddy, I really love the coaching from Cal and KP and Tony Barbee and Joel Justus and I love the BBN and I came here because of the stage, and I’ve got to take all that into consideration.’ It’s not just all about going straight to the NBA.”

“Kevin comes from a family with, to be honest with you, two educated parents who are not in need,” Knox Sr. told SEC Country last week. “We don’t need for Kevin to go out and buy us a house or buy us a car or something.”

Gotta agree with caneintally. This sets up like a Calipari special! Alexander announces he leaves on Tuesday and Knox announces on Wednesday. I think the only other two to truly wait and see is Diallo and Gabriel. Washington and Vanderbilt both with surgeries coming up seem to indicate they will be back. Depending on scholarships, you may see Hagans and/or Montgomery then announce. I know they may want to play the AAU circuit but I can see them wanting to instead get a jump start this summer with the remaining Cats.

I want the guys back for the sake of our team, but I think a lot of people overestimate the effect more college will have on these players' long term careers.

I think it depends on the player. If you aren't mentally ready for the grind of the league, you need to say. If you aren't mature enough to discipline yourself, you need to stay.

I also think nba development is overblown. Again, depends on the discipline of the player more than the coaches in the league. Curry might not be Curry without his time in college. We don't know.

There has to be a reason why players and families are choosing college basketball and it's coaches over the G league or overseas.

The real news here is that an 18 year old still calls his father "Daddy".

Seriously though, I hope Knox Sr is smart enough to know that comments like this are collectively getting the hopes up of the BBN. It will make the crash that much harder to take if he does end up going pro.

Knox SR won a national championship while he was at FSU. That being said, hopefully Knox Jr listens to his pops. To be able to 'share' winning a National Championship with your son gotta be up there in experiences father and son's/ mother and daughters could ever share.
Knox Sr, you sir have done a great job thus far sir! Nice work! Go big blue!
Wonder if a study has been done with
Athlete career earnings from single parent household vs ....from typical both parent household vs ....from atypical parents household and see if it different greatly...
