Thank God we lost against KSU, because if Cal got beat by Loyola you people would be calling for his resignation. And if UK did slide by Loyola, than we'd lose to Kansas and everyone would be saying how Self owns Cal and Cal's lost it....how his methods don't work anymore.

The funny thing is, a month ago half the people on here were worried UK wasn't even going to make the NCAA tourney, now we're lighting crosses because we're not in the final four. Over 60 teams play in this tournament and only ONE leaves happy, the odds are its not going to be your team. Have some perspective.

I'm pissed we blew a great chance but yes people are getting a bit crazy now.I've ranted and raved for days but am now coming back to reality and interested to see who returns.I'm glad the team gets the trip which should be a benefit for next season.
What happens if UK lost to Loyola? I know you're a huge UK fan, as I, but Loyola wouldve beaten UK tonight. Imagine that repercussion.

I’m happy in general but won’t be if we don’t win another title in the next four years.

See Franky. That’s what I mean.

I hate that we lost but some are falling apart.Cal will never win a title, all he does is scream,he can't recruit now,Duke will win next 2 years.I wish people would chill a bit.We still have a shot at a good team next season.

I'm not sure why anybody would be happy with pissing away a historically easy route to the final four. Especially given the difficult roads we've had before. Just a real wasted opportunity. We let a mediocre at best team beat us when it looked like we were playing our best basketball of the season. Of course we aren't happy. Should UVA fans be happy? Xavier fans? UNC fans?

The funny thing is that all the crocodile tears and foaming at the mouth has ZERO impact on Cal. It collectively makes the fan base look like blithering idiots and makes us patsies for trolls. Believe me, we are getting trolled and by some high post count accounts too.

Cals done a great job here. Time for him to make some philosophical changes or this trend of coming up short will continue. JMO. I think I'm still entitled to that, or maybe I'm just a troll and haven't realized it for the 40 years I've followed Kentucky basketball.

But are they hammering the coach? Are they in a round about way saying Roy's lost it and will never win a title? Who cares about an easy road, when you're good it doesn't matter what road you have. And when you're not very good you lose to cruddy teams or 4 straight at some points. Get over it, you thought it was 2012 again because they beat Davidson...youre own fault for not having perspective.

In no way did I think it was 2012 again. I did think maybe we'd turned the corner since we won the SEC tournament and looked good in our opening 2 games. I absolutely thought we should handle K State and Loyola in 2 de facto home games with the recent play we had shown. We did have I think 7 McDonalds All Americans on our roster so there was talent there.

I am happy because UK is in great shape. One of the best coaches who is winning and doing it year after year. Doing it without cheating while others are cheating on levels we have not seen before including our biggest rival. Almost every year, UK has been a force, been one of the best teams in the SEC, and been a legit contender overall (as much as most). Yes a few tough losses here and there, but all teams do. UK players, have gone on and represented the school successfully and found success in their chosen Career (basketball mainly). We have a coach that is happy, great family, and appears to be comfortable in Lexington for a long time. The only thing I am not happy about is that some fans think the state of the program is not healthy. Considering what is going on in College Basketball, UK basketball is comfortably elite and positioned as well if not better than any program!!!

OP Thinks he is rooting for Vanderbilt or Tennessee. He thinks we should all be happy losing with all the draft picks out of UK, should be happy losing to a lower seed in sweet 16, we should hold a parade. Lost to UCONN twice, Wisky with 10 pro's, Yes let's throw a GD parade and ticker tape.
This is UK and winning one title with his teams and where we ended up, FF, elite 8, bunny bracket this year. It has been less than stellar. You win one more NC game than not so much second guessing.
Not hammering the coach at UNC or Nova last year, Coach K. gets pass. Sorry Coach Cal does not get a pass, blame him for expectations and talent. He wins in 15 then you won't hear a peep, maybe a little. We beat UCONN in 14 then maybe no backlash.
Roy has 3 at UNC, that buys him time, I have never witnessed a UK coach win more than one, K gets pass.
This is UK and big boy BB. The OP is treating this like some little Podunk team like UT or Chattanooga.

Cal deserves all the praise, I would not want another coach. He needed to win one more to be able to get a free pass. Sorry. His game plans have been awful in the losses. WVU in 09 is same as K. St this year. Mostly boils down to awful offense.

I'm guessing here, but I think most of those who are happy, as it were, tend to avoid the first couple days of outraged indignation the lunatic fringe likes to spout. Still, you and others have my respect for trying to swim upstream in that fast flowing river of stupid...and either bank lined with cannibals.

Most people around here enjoy being miserable. It’s like a group therapy session except no one actually gets better. They enjoy whining and crying over stuff they can’t control and bad mouthing 18-21 year olds playing basketball. God forbid a coach doesn’t do exactly what joe blow says sitting behind his computer screen.

If 2015 didn’t end the way it did most of us would be fine. Since then there has been a major drop off. Fans can only take so much of the giant peaks and valleys.

You whine about everything. Cal has had the most NCAA tourney wins since 2009, so any theories questioning whether he's good enough to be at UK should go out the window. If anything, he's too good for UK. You're a perfect example why people love to see us lose, you think UK should win the title every other year.
And when are you going to figure out that just talent doesn't win titles? It only enhances the odds, it doesn't put expectations on things, the expectations comes from people like yourself that just don't know basketball very well.

hahaa... "major drop off" If Luke Maye misses that shot last year, Cats win the title. Cant believe youre so narrow-minded you didn't even realize UK was the 2nd best team last year. And this year, a bad year? We're still in the top 20.

If we in it all in 2015 you people would still be griping "Cal's lost it, he can't win anymore". My day will be ruined when Cal leaves, but ill find solace in getting a 2nd tier coach that will teach you and a few others to have perspective.

Why do you say Loyola would have won? K-State beat us because they contained our best player of the last month, Alexander. I just don't think that would have happened, we would have beaten Loyola if we played.

Just my opinion here, but I would have rather lost to Loyola than K-State. For one, we would have been playing in the Elite 8 and not the Sweet 16. Two, I honestly think Loyola is better than K-State. Three, I don't think we would have lost to Loyola, they don't match up with us the way K-State did.

Couldn’t be happier with the state of our program in general (it isn’t just about titles)

If all of the below is true, then how couldn’t you be?

*Kansas and self cheat
*unc has cheated for 25+ years
UL hired hookers and paid players 100k+
Duke gets players eligible that otherwise wouldn’t be and they get a pass from the NCAA. Also get a pass on players that have accepted impermissible benefits

Cal has competed with these above schools and done so at a remarkable clip. Has had very high character players that he requires to go to class and rep the university well. When our players leave they are constantly praised for giving back.

All while staying out of trouble.

I hate losing in the sweet 16 to a team that wasn’t as good as us. But it’s on to next year. I’ll pull just as hard whether players are here for 9 months or 9 years.

I know very few fans in real life that act like some on this board.

Maybe they need a new hobby then because the response some give is pretty stupid.
They want to essentially win the championship every year or to have less consistent talent levels and to have less of a chance each given year and build up to runs more periodically they hope a bit more solidly mostly so they personally won't be so disappointed as much.

Screw em! They can go to hell or at least find something else to be miserable about from my perspective.

He wasn't nearly as much contained as had a poor performance to my eyes.
PJ who isn't a good free throw shooter had a particularly poor night in that area.

Shai plays just a bit closer to his average performance we win. PJ shoots his average free throw percentage we win easily.

We had a young even by recent standards team that had a bit if a meltdown in a game with no flow and people have a hard time accepting that **** happens even though they good and well it does and worse even with experienced talent like against Georgetown in 84 or even against UNC in 93 (closer to this really just minus the bunch of Juniors being on the team and the quality of the opposition).

The College Basketball tournament is one and done. The match ups are never about which particular team is the best overall but rather in one game. We beat KSU 89/100 maybe but only a fool mistakes that for 100%. They beat any college team a few times if you could replay the game a hundred times.

That is life in this sport.

As much as many hate or don't care about the NBA it seems that is the basketball that works better structurally for them. The best team wins far more often, randomness has far less sway day to day and especially in the playoffs.

I honestly think the insanely negative / ridiculous posters are legit unhappy in their real lives in some way shape or form.
They have unrealistic and childlike expectations.
Pretty much true. Sad thing is some have had so many dissapointments that losing just opens the wounds. All of us go through bad times. None of us are immune to lifes ups and downs. We get bitter or better .God help us all.

I’m not happy. We lost, I’m never happy when we get beat out. But I am PROUD of these guys and the way they came together. This current class wasn’t a great class across the board, we forget that. But even in a down year we made it to the sweet 16, and it took a bad game and great shooting from another team to beat us. PROUD of Cal and the players

Normally, I would congratulate the OP on such a well thought out, lucid post. BUT, I find it ironic how the OP is lecturing everyone on being happy and mature about a loss, when IIRC it was the OP who went off on a childish tangent last year when Hamidou Diallo was contemplating entering the NBA Draft. Instead of being "happy" for Hamidou and being patient, the OP lit into Hami wishing he would just go ahead and leave because the OP "didn't want him here" on the team. So in essence @Louis_Skunt, take your sanctimonious, pompous, arrogant self and take a short walk off a long pier. We "don't want you here."
