If these players return

Do not see Vanderbilt returning after sitting our SEC and NCAA in order to avoid injury. Knox and Diallo made their decision before the season began. SGA played his way into the first round so he is also likely gone. Anyone else who leaves is leaving for another program. I worry most about Greene transferring to Villanova with Quickley and possibly Hagans in the wings.

Went off the deep end at the last second

I think you and I are the about the only ones on this board that remembers Cals comments after his first season. He said having six lottery picks was the greatest thing that had ever happened for UK basketball. I said that I thought winning NCs was greater than having sent players to the NBA. After all, he was hired to coach our team and the most important
thing is that and the ultimate is a NC.

That was not his quote. It was “the biggest day in U.K. basketball history”. It was hyperbole but in a way it turned out to be true—he went to 4 final fours in 5 years after that day.

If all the players come back the cats will be solid team, not championship caliber

C - ?

Just curious. What grade would you give Virginia? North Carolina? Michigan State? Cincinnati? Xavier? I'll bet a majority of their fans would say they had terrific seasons with a disappointing final game, maybe a B or B - plus.
I live in Cincinnati and trust me that's not what most Cincy/Xavier fans are saying. They are really pissed.

Losing Knox, SGA, Diallo, and JV.

Add Montgomery and we are good to go.

G Quickley/Green
G Johnson/Baker
F Washington/Herro
F Montgomery/Gabriel
F Richards/Killeya-Jones

I think Washington works on his jumper and ballhandling and plays some 3 next season. That's his future position, if he wants to play in the NBA, IMHO.
Herro a forward? No.

Why do we have to go through this every year and be held hostage until June? We will lose Knox, Alexander, Diallo, and at least 2 more. It’s the UK way and that day has become most important day in UK history....I didn’t make the last statement up. I am quoting your coach.

Most recruiting experts have Montgomery going to the brotherhood

Telling.

And I'm not referencing our coach.

Got to get a good shooter and a rim protector. This team had neither one of those.

Herro a forward? No.

He may play some 3, but the depth chart is a little off because Cal starts his best guys and I was trying to list them based on that. He'll play mostly the 2. Sorry for the confusion.

Guess I should list it like this:

Starters

G Quickley
G Johnson
F Washington
F Montgomery
F Richards

Reserves

G Green
G Baker
G Herro
F Gabriel
F Killeya-Jones

I see the starters plus Green, Gabriel, and SKJ getting the significant minutes. Herro and Baker fight for the scraps, unless one emerges as a guy that you can't keep off the floor.

I see Green, Quickley, Johnson, Washington, and Montgomery as the five on the floor to end tight games. Richards needs to start to keep his confidence. Cal knows his guys and how much of the game is mental for some kids. Green is a spark off the bench and I don't think he minds that role.

But Cal knows his personnel and how to put the pieces together. I am just guessing at this point.

Shooters are coming.

Quickley, Baker, and Herro are all known for their shooting.

Johnson is streaky, but the same was said about Monk and we all know how well he shot it to end the season.

That's three, maybe four reliable shooters, hopefully added to Green and Gabriel as returning shooters.

Cal should be able to put three to four shooters on the floor when we need shooting.

A rim protector is a different story. Don't really have one and there doesn't seem to be one available.

Maybe Montgomery, if he comes here. If not, got to hope Richards and SKJ can improve in that role.

That is why I hate we have to wait to June before we know who goes and who stays. I think we all know and most experts have said that besides Knox, SGA, and Diallo everyone else should be coming back for next year at Kentucky. It would be wonderful if a Knox would say that he wants to stay and play another year at UK just like Bridges at Mich. State. If Knox returns and we would have Knox, PJ, Vanderbilt, and Gabriel at forward. The guards with Quickley, Green, Baker, Herro & Johnson(can play either SF or SG). Then at Center Richards, SKJ, and if we can get Montgomery. That would put us at 12 players and that would be if SGA and Diallo leaves and Knox stays another year. I still feel we lose Knox, SGA, and Diallo to the NBA Draft. I just wish Cal could get a feel who will be back for sure as of today to go along with the 3 or 4 players for next year. I just hope we don't have the whole team going to NBA without hiring any agents for there option to return. I just feel with these players that the only ones really ready for the NBA is Knox and SGA and the rest should all be returning next year.

Montgomery’s crystal ball says 90% Duke, 10% Auburn. Why do people keep listing him for next years UK team? Is there something that I don’t know?

So many experts in this thread that just know who is leaving and who is staying.

Again with the fallacies of the UK way.....

I see a couple of morons that dont want some freshmen to return...????
The one above is a troll so he doesnt count, and Chuck is just getting old...

June is not the date we will find out.

The actual date is 10 days after the NBA combine which is in early to mid May.

PJ just missed 15 FTs in a damn game. He's not a 3. Great 4, but not close to a 3.

Richie Farmer Ain’t Walking thru That Door

Thank goodness, he is like 50 now and proven to be less than brilliant and even at his peak he was on the downside of mediocre being pudgy, squat, and slow.
Only avoids pure crapulence by being a good but not fantastic shooter.

"Do you think Ritchie is going to start tonight?" "Eff no....over who?...He's not starting point over Woods. He isn't starting at two over Brown who almost shoots as well and actually has game otherwise. He isn't starting over Paintsville, Feldhouse, or Mashburn. Hell to the naw...naw...naw Ritchie isn't starting and stop asking every damn week like a damn fool.

Ritchie is a slow, short bench player and wouldn't have been even that out from under the shadow of probation. A one trick pony that wasn't upper echelon and his one trick.

Also, in hindsight he turns out to be one of the lower character guys we have had as a person in generations. Ritchie is dicey at best all around.

My guess is Vanderbilt will go to the combines and workouts, they'll see he has very little offensive game, needs better conditioning, health issues and point him back to school vs. playing in the D-League. Now does he listen to good advice, that's another matter.

It's ugly to say **** like "I don't want (insert name) back", if a kid isn't ready and wants to return, we should be supportive, not jerks about it. Players do get better you know.
