I fully support resurrecting these threads so we can deride the terrible people who start them. These aren’t posts saying “wow, Richards sure does drop a lot of balls.” They’re comments like “I hate this team,” “Cal is a fraud,” “Diallo doesn’t deserve a Kentucky uniform.”

These threads aren’t critiquing, or filled with observations that turn out to be merely incorrect. They are ugly little tantrums thrown because UK’s teenage athletes didn’t play well enough to give a handful of morons the water cooler bragging rights they feel entitled to.

If you started those threads or participated in them, we don’t want you here. We don’t like you. Your thoughts are not valued. Find another place to express yourself.

People are stupid, and stupid people do stupid things

Stupid people make ridiculous threads
Stupid people lump anyone with the slightest frustration in with people who make ridiculous threads
Stupid people bring up said threads weeks to months later in an attempt to be little drama queens

Why? Nobody knows. It’s just that people are stupid. There’s enough drama in life than to live in this. Enjoy the wins and hinge hope on opportunity to make a deep tournament run hoping like hell this team capitalizes. That’s it

The I told you so's are also premature

Let's win 2 more games and then they will be valid.. still shouldn't do it as it's just immature and reeks of you having self esteem issues but at least they will be valid.

But some of the threads dragged back up aren't really that bad. It's one thing to gripe about being under .500 conference...it's another to say faaaar cal... and the idiots who can't see the difference are just as bad as the ffaaaar cal idiots.

If ant of.you idiots jinx us and we lose against Kansas State I'm gonna be pissed..

Is Cal a “bad coach” because he thought the team wouldn’t make the tournament?

Good grief.

Or is Dakich and other commentators horrible because they indicated the NIT was a risk if there is no turnaround? We were playing very, very poorly

Thank God and Cal for getting this turned around. It’s a fun team to watch and I really wish people would focus on that now

Exactly!

A loss Thursday means a lot of the optimism is out the door and the team will be nothing more than “barely met expectation.” If they win, and should, then we start worked up. Very thrilled for the opportunity right now but chickens haven’t hatched yet

You got a mouse in your pocket?

You speak for yourself, bucko. And you're not the arbiter of who gets to post on this board.

All UK fans are welcome here, even the crazy/caustic ones.

100%

We've basically beaten 2 teams we would normally schedule pre conference ... and if we beat Davidson by 5 per conference.. a lot of the same threads would exist lol

This. Very well stated
I’m rather ambivalent about dragging up those old threads. It IS kind of silly. It’s also decisive. With the exception of one or two, most of those posters said what they did I the heat of the moment, out of frustration we ALL felt. Did they go overboard? Yes and they should own it.
Guess what? Most of them did earlier on. There were even apology posts by a couple of the most vocal.
I say let it go, let’s get together as a fanbase and cheer our guys on to #9

Agreed. It’s basically people saying they don’t want to be held accountable for their bad take. If you man/women enough to degrade or talk negative about a player when they are let playing well then you should be man/woman enough to eat the crow when they are playing well.

No different then saying you should be able to bully or talk bad about someone when they are struggling but when they are doing well they shouldn’t be able to call you on your B.S

"Bad" fans deserve their crow. This is a public forum. The end.

Yes the way Bkocats phrased it is what I was trying to relay . Among the 1000's of posters here very very few , like < 5% hate Cal , or really dont want us to succeed . Maybe its the 2% Cal called out the other day , but the BBN bus is flat out rolling , lady luck SEEMINGLY has fallen our way , and we need to be all together as a fan base and pulling this team towards the most improbable Final 4 run EVER ! And who knows what happens when you get to a FF . The SEC tourney and first 2 games of the NCAA"s have been like mood elevating ? beyond exciting ? exhilarating ? LOL to see Hami having fun , to see the team grow , to see Cal get Swaggy , man its GREAT right now . Lets all get on board and leave the 2%'ers behind .

I am speaking for myself. I don’t welcome “caustic” people. Being a UK fan doesn’t redeem that; in fact, it makes it worse, because they reflect poorly on our little community.

If you knew a person in real life who complained incessantly, routinely threw screaming tantrums where they broke stuff, and frequently insulted mutual acquaintances behind their backs, you wouldn’t hang out with such a person. You would cut them out of your life as fast as possible.

Unfortunately, I can’t do that here because I’m not a mod (wish our mods would do more of it). What I can do (and will continue to do, bucko) is shame those individuals at every opportunity. They’re pathetic and don’t enrich anyone’s experience here.

If you feel personally insulted by this, maybe sleep off your anger before posting inane ragebabble.

And won the SEC Tourney, a fact you and your type continually seem to ignore.

I didn't drag up any of those threads, and I only commented on them when some of the main offenders wanted to do everything but admit that hey, maybe, just maybe, they were overreacting, jumping the gun, being a little extreme, etc.

What I don't get (or accept) is that it's somehow better to direct criticism at the people dragging this stuff up than it is to hold people accountable for what they posted. It's OK to act like a developmentally challenged 8 year old throwing a tantrum, but it's petty to point out the people who were acting like developmentally challenged 8 year olds?

I reject that idea. People who are extremist get called to account all the time here, and that includes some of the people who are extreme in the opposite direction, making wildly unrealistic, positive proclamations.

The problem is, when the pumper side is crashing and burning because the team sucks, no one drags up their old comparisons from summer, or their crazy predictions. Because we all hate that it didn't turn out that way.

When others who are more glass half empty or realist "of the time" make post in the moment that turn out to be contained in the moment and not the future, the pumps are ready to drag it up.

Example - Cane is ok, but I could humiliate him on the daily by going back to his old post. But as you see, no one does it.

It's only one side who drags this crap up, when in fact everyone is wrong around the same.

Because it’s not just about being wrong. It’s about being a garbage person. These are kids. It’s a game. We’re fans.

These two “obervations” are not equivalent:

“Quade will finish the season averaging 10 assists per game!”

“Diallo is pathetic. He gives nothing to our team. I wish he would transfer.”

Both are “wrong.” But they’re not the same kind of wrong. Give me the fool responsible for the first hot take any day over the second.

Not a single "inane" thing about what I posted.

"We don't want you here." "We don't like you." - your words.

Are you the Queen of England?

If not, drop the "we" silliness and "stay in yo lane," to quote the inimitable Lavar Ball.

And thank God a snowflake like you doesn't have mod powers.

I must have really touched a nerve, man. Seriously, if you’re one of the ragebabies, and you’re concerned about having a thread of yours revived, just be gracious if it happens. Admit that you said something stupid, apologize, and move on. But this weird deflection thing you’re doing is getting cringey.

So, the OP complains about those posters who complained about those who complained mid-season?

I think we need to see an end to posts dragging down those who bring threads back up.

Seriously, the answer to obnoxious free speech is always more free speech, and not censorship.

I think it's bad form to dredge these old threads up, particularly in the middle of the tournament run. If you need to get your drama on, do it when the tourney's over. It only results in this kind of bickering, which is the last thing we need right now. Reminds me of something Jones would do.

I avoid this board for 2 days after any loss because 90% of the posts are people whining and complaining...no discussion at all, just complaining.

If bringing these old threads back up makes it where fans who can actually control their emotions are able to post and discuss things we need to improve upon after losses, I'm all for it.

You're the one who literally just deflected from my post. [laughing]

Once again: Just speak for yourself, drop the "we" crap and you'll be fine to post as much whiney drivel about posts you deem "unacceptable"... no matter how "cringey" you sound in doing so.

So I just went back to page 100+, took me 30 seconds to find some of the pumper crowd who drags threads back up saying this team isn't good and Cal cant produce with bad players. One of them is in this thread. I wont do it, but I could.

So they were wrong too, the team wasn't a terrible team. They were learning.

See, be careful if you're posting in this thread as some sort of winner.

to push people down. A lot of childish BS . I said it yesterday on a different thread , just because you pointed out how horrible we were playing 4-6 weeks ago and stating Hami was not good , or Nick cant catch , or Quade wasnt defending doesnt make you a bad fan . And dragging it up doesnt make you appear smart. We were bad for a couple weeks , now we are not . Lets ALL enjoy it and stop stabbing our brothers in the back. Too damn many people acting like they have never posted a thought that turned out to be wrong .

Maybe if the critics showed some patience and reason then people wouldn't feel the need to dig up old posts. But during our bad stretch we had folks saying the team was terrible, Cal was screwing up playing Hami, we were heeaded to the NIT, etc. So yea, those a-holes deserve to be called out.

Agree with this.

I don't mind it at all. Let people do it more.

To me it's ridiculous that lately a lot of folks have complained that bringing up failed team-trashing threads is somehow uncivilized. It's uncivilized to revive like the 15 worst threads to make fun of them?

How civilized was it that emotionally stable fans had to wade through like 3200 Cal-hating emo threads over the course of the season?

We'll be more united as a fanbase when huge herds of us stop making posts that the respectable among us can't possibly unite with.

Best case, dredging some of this up will help some people STFU next season at times when they really need to man up and zip it.

Worst case, at least we get to make fun of them like they got to make fun of our team.

There's a middle ground, you know. There were times when all of the sane among us knew NIT was a possibility this year. But a huge lot of us knew it was wisest just to support the team we all supposedly support and at least not tear into them for their own sufferings. That didn't make us delusional or sunshine pumpers.

I've noticed it's always somebody else who is the moron.

Strangely, that has always been my observation, as well.

And it always seems that someone else is the douche bag, the *** hat and the fool.

Maybe it's good that we've never met, Levi, as your ego-centrism and self-centeredness would collide with my rational outlook on everything. :)

It can both suck because none of it is accurate. The anti-pump crowd doesn't drag them up because they don't like the fact that the team is sucking and don't take joy in bringing up old threads defining the team positively.

You think it's OK for cane to run around saying the twins will both be first round / lottery picks? He's wrong, doesn't matter if you approve.

You think it should be left alone that one of the best posters on this board (still a pumper) said that Skal would be a baby Davis and candidate for player of the year? Wanna drag my post up telling the board he was overrated from day one? Nope. Doesn't fit the paradigm.

I know who you’re talking about
He also apologized for that and said he knew that it really wasn’t true. He did get plenty of grief the first time around on it

I hope no one misunderstands my stance on this. I do think it was knee jerk reactions during a rough time. I believe those posters would have been better served to stop and think before posting. And yes, I think many were over the top and it did piss me off at the time.
But at the same time, as a Kentucky fan, I understand why they felt the way they did. I was just as frustrated with this team.

No offense, but who cares if they apologized, or if it was heat of the moment. If you don't understand how these freshman teams develop and that some take longer than others then scream at your tv instead of posting, or just understand that if you have a stupid opinion that you'll get called out for it.
