Does he coach again? And for imaginations’ sake, where would you like to see him end up? ... Not that we care.

I say Cincinnati! He can send his boy Mick home to coach LaSalle High School while he has a brand new arena to fill (renovated).

No, I don't think he coaches again.

But, given Cal's record against him, I'd prefer he coach an SEC East school so we'd be guaranteed two conference wins per year.

He expects to get a job AT LEAST as good as UNLV and while I think that SOMEONE would hire him, I doubt a high D1 school COULD do it.

I'd expect a situation similar to Larry Brown going to SMU.

Ranger Jr College. He needs some humble pie. What would his hyperbole be there?

I have a hard time seeing anyone picking him up next season. Down the road, if he isn't hit by the NCAA, then maybe some smaller or desperate school will give him a call.

He should humble himself and take an assistant coaching job at Minnesota. His ego probably wouldn't accept being an assistant, but he could help his son while staying involved with the game. I'll be surprised if a P5 school becomes desperate enough to hire him as a head coach.

When the dust settles on the fbi investigation and the coming ncaa one if he is not specifically named in violations someone will hire him. The problem with this is his age and the time frame involved with the inquiries.
He can coach an some school tired of losing will take the chance.

Depends on how this FBI mess ends. If it’s 30 or 50 schools that are dirty, including all the big brands, then that minimizes the taint on any one coach. In that case, some AD who values winning over integrity and doesn’t care about the brief mockery that will come that way will hire him. If it turns out that only a handful of schools are implicated, he’s done.....

You would think the easy answer would be no...but really I think some school would hire him. I wonder if Syracuse would throw him a bone once the Nose Picker leaves office...

He's sixty damn five years old, and looks seventy five. When the dust settles with the FBI investigation, he is likely facing a heavy show cause, if not outright ban. Under his "leadership", University Six was stripped of a national title and wins vacated/fines for using prostitutes to entertain recruits and members of their entourage, stands accused of being involved in buying a player, and last but not least, he created a highly publicized, embarrassing sex scandal where he banged a psychotic woman on a restaurant table, got her pregnant, paid for an abortion and pawned her off on a member of his staff before she started to blackmail him. Any athletic director who would even entertain thoughts of hiring this sack of dung will be quickly rebuked, and probably should be fired on the spot. Realistically, if this dude wants to get back into coaching, he's probably going to have to go the NAIA or JUCO route.

How long did it take before Bobby Knight got a job?

One season.....but I'm not sure how that relates to Pitino. RMK is guilty of being a massive horse's ***, but he never left a program on probation, and never set them up to likely having their probation extended, if not having the death penalty on the table for buying players.

I just couldn’t remember, but I also considered him a royal jackass and a risky hire for most programs, didn’t you?

Risky from the prospect that he could lose his temper and shoot his mouth off and say something or toss a chair.....but nothing from the standpoint that he was going to hire hookers for recruits or get involved in buying players, or anything else that could land your program on probation.

Well, he did physically assault his players, his sons (Pat and Tim), his assistant coaches, the sports information director at IU, a police officer, opposing fans, random people in restaurants, etc. He also literally shot one of his friends in the back while they were hunting and didn't report it to the authorities.

Don't get me wrong--I wouldn't want Pitino either. Who would? But whores seems pretty tame when compared to a certifiable lunatic sociopath with a long history of physical violence.

BEFORE Pitino took things to the unimaginable level, Bobby Knight was, and if it was a Jeopardy question for most of America, most would answer the most hated, embarrassing coach in all of college sports (Woody Hayes included). Most schools would not touch him with a ten foot pole. He is only revered by those lunatics in Bloomington. But it’s not a contest. I simply dropped him in as a comparison. That’s what you do when you analyze things...you recall history to make a comparison and a prediction as to what the result might be or you look at precedent set in the past. It is not an exact science unless you can find an exact copy of the person and the circumstance or you find a parallel planet. I agree Pitino is much, much worse.

Yes, but none of those things will land your program on probation and possibly the death penalty. That's what Rick Pitino brings to the table. You hire him knowing what he likely faces ...the NCAA hits him with a hefty show cause (with severe recruiting restrictions) or outright ban and you're screwed. You fire him, he's probably going to sue. Keep him and if he commits one NCAA violation, they will bury you. Moot point(s), because I don't see anyone in the NCAA divisions willing to take those risks, and has deplion pointed out, even if an AD wanted to do it, the school administration would never sign off on it, and rightfully so.

There was never any doubt with this pick, as Bob Knight is college basketball's greatest villain ever.

At Indiana, he threw a folding chair across a court, choked a player, head-butted another and kicked his own son in the leg. Those are just a few examples of Knight's temper, infamous enough that it's been the subject of entire highlight reels. He also drew controversy outside the gym, like when he told Connie Chung during a 1988 interview: "I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it."

As proof of how poorly the American public still views Knight, now an ESPN analyst, Forbesranked him the No. 9 most disliked person in sports in 2011, among the likes of Terrell Owens, Manny Ramirez, Tiger Woods, Al Davis and Randy Moss.

Not that Knight cares. As he once eloquently put it, "I want them to bury me upside down, and my critics can kiss my (expletive)."

I really don't know what effect those kinds of incidents would have on a program these days. Why? Because no college would tolerate that kind of behavior. Any university employee who acted that way would be fired immediately, and rightfully so.

I will say this, though--If Bob Knight was just an average Joe, he would've ended up in prison decades ago. He's had obvious psychological issues for years, and he's demonstrated over and over that he's entirely incapable of controlling his behavior. A felony waiting to happen, so to speak.

Yes, RMK would be fired on the spot today if he behaved the way he did. I wouldn't touch RMK or Pitino if I needed to hire a coach. RMK's only "redeeming quality" is that he won't do anything to land your program on probation. Pitino has ZERO redeeming qualities, and is a pathological liar and ethically challenged sack of dung to boot.

Knight wouldn't be around long enough to do anything to land a program on probation in this day and age. He'd say something racist or assault a student and be out immediately.

I don't disagree about Pitino except to say that he's always been one hell of a coach. One of the best of all-time even if he's a despicable human being.
