Judging by my short listen of local sports take radio, I don’t think many people would be upset if Mack and/or Cronin found other jobs this offseason.

I watched th Cats stomp UC at the Bulldog Palace on Amsterdam’s Leidesplien in 2005. Nice lil’ extended Spring Break dickering around Europe for a super senior.

Cal lives for this stuff.

Making the national media rounds, being the center of attention, talking about his upcoming games while Roy, Tom, Bruce and almost every other coach in the country are at home watching.

It's why I was never nearly as concerned as others about him leaving. Coaches aren't the main focus in the NBA, and there's no other college job that invites the kind of attention that UK does. He's coaching here until he dies or retires. Been saying it for years, and will continue to say it. @ ME.

Also, where else are local media members this TRUE BLUE?

I mean, this is the kind of take only comes about when you're livid inside and can't find any rational reason to express how pissed off you are. It warms my heart to know that people are taking this **** so personally.... [laughing]

But, this prompted me to actually take a look at our paths in the NCAA-T since Calipari became the HC:
  • 4 out of the 8 years, UK's road in the region has consisted of playing the top seed possible at that point in the tournament.
  • In the 4 years that weren't complete chalk, 2010 is probably the only year that the bracket "opened" up for UK with Wake in the 2nd Round and Cornell in the S16. Then WVU happened...
  • In 2015, we played the 5-seed in the S16 (instead of the 4-seed) and the 3-seed in the E8 (instead of the 2-seed). Hard to say that the bracket "opened" that year. Then Wisconsin happened...
  • In 2017, we played Wichita St. as a 10-seed in the 2nd round, when in reality, they should've been an 8-seed at worse. Other than that, the road to the F4 was chalk.
It's not hyperbole to say that UK is consistently in one of the top-2 toughest regions every year in the NCAA-T and almost always has one of the toughest roads to the F4. Where is the outrage when a bracket breaks for Kansas, Duke, or UNC.

F*ck em all.

Knee jerk reactions aside, I think Xavier fan realizes (or will, when they calm down) that if Mack isn't a lifer, likely nobody is. Which is a tough spot to be in.

From Rafters:

We've heard a lot from the haters about how ridiculously easy our setup is. As if we actually have control over it.

But here are the easiest roads since the 1985 tournament expansion, by total seed numbers (eventual champions in bold):

1991 #1 UNC - 47 (16, 9, 12, 10)

1990 #1 UNLV - 47 (16, 8, 12, 11)

2008 #1 Kansas - 46 (16, 8, 12, 10)

1993 #1 Michigan - 44 (16, 9, 12, 7)

1999 #1 Duke - 43 (16, 9, 12, 6)

1990 #4 Arkansas - 43 (13, 12, 8, 10)

1986 #1 Duke - 43 (16, 8, 12, 7)

1999 #1 Michigan State - 41 (16, 9, 13, 3)

2014 #1 Florida - 40 (16, 9, 4, 11)

2008 #1 UCLA - 40 (16, 9, 12, 3)

2005 #1 Illinois - 40 (16, 9, 12, 3)

1999 #1 UConn - 40 (16, 9, 5, 10)

1994 #1 Arkansas - 40 (16, 9, 12, 3)

If we make it, our total will either be 45 (playing Loyola) or 41 (playing Nevada). So yes, we'll make the list. But it's about time we got some luck.

Look at how chalk-lined our road to EVERY Final Four since 1985 has been:

1993 #1 UK = 32 (lowest possible for a 1 seed = 30)

1996 #1 UK = 31 (lowest possible = 30)

1997 #1 UK = 30 (lowest possible = 30)

1998 #2 UK = 32 (lowest possible for a 2 seed = 26)

2011 #4 UK = 21 (lowest possible for a 4 seed = 21)

2012 #1 UK = 31 (lowest possible = 30)

2014 #8 UK = 16 (lowest possible for an 8 seed = 16)

2015 #1 UK = 32 (lowest possible = 30)

Even in 1998, UK just faced a 10 (instead of a 7) and a 6 (instead of a 3) to account for the difference.

So we're due for this. I hope we take advantage and that everyone else keeps crying the whole way!

Losing a large lead last night does not change the fact that Mack is a fantastic coach.

Mick Cronin, OTOH, is an angry twisted little testicle.

Also, I haven't forgotten the absolute shitshow of growing pains with this squad.

If these dipshits manage to eff up a yellowbrick road to the Final Four in the easiest bracket in the history of history, I'm still going to regard these guys as the pack of screw-ups they were most of the season. That goes double if PJ Washington, Vanderbilt, etc. stay in the draft.

BUTATHESAMETIME... if this pack of knuckleheads makes the Final Four, that's legitimately amazing and it may be the most satisfying run I can think of. 2012 and 2015 were just stressful.

This is house money, son.

Actually feels pretty good to be feared, hated, and envied again. These little piss-ants are scared to do death of UK success.
Can you imagine the **** Cal will say if we win with this bunch?

"Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - not even a 5-star recruit yet he comes here, wins a title, and becomes a lottery pick? Are you serious? Hey, folks - we started FIIIIIIIVE FRESHMENNNNNNN. Not even my 2012 team started five freshmen! AND THEY DO THIS AFTER LOSING FOUR GAMES IN A ROW???? Woooooooooowwwwww ...."
