The freshman excuse is getting old, if you gonna keep using that as a excuse, then quit recruiting one and dones, just play ball

When they started the season were they not freshmen? Now whenever the season end want they still be freshmen? So if the answer is yes then Cal is telling the truth.

Now let me ask another question, they started the season one of the youngest teams in the NCAA. How are they suppose to age more than anyone else in 6 months.

It's like having an older bother then one day you're older than your bother, it's never ever happened in the history of the world.

Anyone with kids understands Cal if they're truthful.
I have three, aaaand there are a few things i don't understand, nor agree with. Yes i love my coach, no i don't want any other coach but im not a robot or a yes man. I can think for myself and my love of UK basketball begins, and ends......With UK Basketball. Not the NBA, not the G leagues, not overseas.

Im a fan first slash University and tradion/History first fan. I don't understand nor Agree when Cal saiad in his 30 for 30 " I'm Not here to win Championships." "I Don't care about winning the SEC tourney." " This draft is the greatest day in UK history." And a few other thing but he has said some very out of left field comments. How having kids relates to understanding him i don't understand that either if you could be more specific i guess. But let me be clear, i don't believe he thinks these comments are true one bit. Ofcourse he wants to win titles. Ive also seen video of him saying he wants to surpass UCLA so i dunno. Im just not a yes man but i love Cal but i don't understand a few things.

I like Cal but it does start sounding goofed at some point to keep bringing it up. He really doesn't mean to but when he gets stuck with no good answer it just comes out automatically.

And the Freshman excuse makes me cringe because he says it at least twice EVERY Presser and interview. Can't have your cake and eat it too so to speak. Don't stop recruiting but you don't have to pull the freshman we are young card out when things go south.

I love to read everyone's opinions. Sometimes I learn a lot from this exchange of ideas and opinions. However, as soon as the insults start, I don't take anything that person has to say seriously. Is it that you don't have anything to say or add to thw conversation, so you just insult the poster? I am sooooooo tired of the insults to people. In my OPINION, if you don't have anything constructive to say (agree or disagree with someone), then just shut up. You can disagree with someone without calling thwm stupid, idiot, moron, etc. I am sure some people will let me have it because of this post, but it's okay, I am a big girl. And to those who actually post decently, whether I agree with you or not, I am learning a lot. Thank you.

Cats 90, Cards 61 was an even more surprisingly lopsided result given Kentucky’s last outing, a lackluster loss to an unimpressive, unranked UCLA team six days earlier. There had been nothing in their first 11 games to suggest the 16th-ranked Wildcats (10-2) were on the cusp such a complete and dominant performance.

So what happened? Apparently Calipari just demanded it.

“We’re no longer freshmen. I’m not saying it anymore,” he told his team, which in fact starts five freshmen, before the game. “And the other thing I said: We’ve got to start smashing people.”

I was referring to the freshmen comments.
Children, like adults, go through stages of growth. Some mature faster than others. Age does not define maturity. Accepting responsibility and doing one's part does. I don't agree with what everyone says either. But when you have a young team, it is what it is. JMO

He says it like it's breaking news...

Like BBN and the CBB world don't know that most of the guys weren't on the roster last year, and that he hasn't missed an opportunity to tell us every sideline interview and presser.

Crybabies to the left of us. Whiners to the right.

Cal ain’t changing. You change. Or I hear U6 is looking for fans.

Our FRESHMEN just won!!!
Everybody knows it. Cal don’t have to repeat it 200 times. He makes the decision to be young every year. We don’t need to hear it every time he is in front of s microphone. Why don’t you go root for UL. I hear they are looking for deaf, dumb and blind fans.

Yeah, BUT, others do and I don't think he was talking to UK fans at the time. The UK fans were, uh, listening in and not the focus of the discussion. Just a by-stander at the time...

Cal is just telling the truth and he has been doing the OAD the longest so he has had to say it the longest. Now you hear Coach K, Sean Miller, etc saying the same thing now that they have started following Cal.

Yes u have a right to ur opinion. Not one person who knows Cal personally agrees with u. He is considered extremely competive and anyone who has ever heard him on the sideline understands. The problem that I have with ur take is you may not care but top recruits do. So with K, Miller and self either recruiting one and dones or trying too recruit everyone we are. They are telling them they can help them get to the NBA as well or they will always be taken care of. Cal understands these kids and understands what u have to tell them to get them on campus.

When he gets them here he coaches them to learn how to win. We have never had a freshman go pro who wasn't a first round draft choice

It's a crutch. When we lose he can play that card. It's like me going out and breaking my Arm on purpose and when i can't perform well at my job i say it's because my Arm is broke. Then, i go to EVERY employee EVERY day and say hey, my arm is broken did you know that?

Cal created the environment that he is in so that is why you can get tired of it and say look, you did this to yourself. Now having said that im not angry i don't want another coach, we are playing winning basketball and im happy.

I don't care about the NBA im a UK fan. I want and expect to compete for titles i don't care anything about the NBA. Im all about UK being the best it tcan be. You brought up K, he gets 1 round picks to return. They seem to care more about the brotherhood and education then oh boy im using UK just to get to the stupid NBA. That is amazing, that is why K has won 5 titles since freaking 1982, and why he is the all time wins leader.

You talk about not one freshman hasn't been drafted outside the first round, i can't think of one either but there was some that was not ready and never got a second contract. My issue is not with recruiting my issue is with Cal Forcing everyone to put their name in the draft all the way down to the walk ons. Geez let us grow over a few years as a team for once instead of roster tunover every year.

i love Cal i just disagree with players first NBA NBANBANBA. It's a shame because honestly, he could have had one of the greatest title runs in history next to UCLA if he didn't force kids to go. Cousins wanted to stay, MKG wanted to stay. NBA isn't going anywhere.

I hope we are being honest. You cannot have one without the other. No way, no how. Be happy he is here and quit nit picking. If Cal was not Cal exactly like he is, many of those "One and Dones" would have never been here in the first place.

Oh, and Cuz and MKG did NOT want to stay. That is a farce of a thing to state. Oh yeah they wanted to stay and play and still be kids but they could not make two decisions. It was one or the other. A good parent would have guided them just like Cal. Ultimately it was Cuz and MKG's decision. And, Oh again, I was seeing your logic until you brought up about Cuz and MKG. Not that it matters but you went down in my estimation because that is ludicrous.

From your compiled statements you are just short of living in a dream world. jmuo

Oh, and so you are also aware as my memory slips sometimes too. UK may have not had the 2012 title If the NBA hadn't had that lockout issue. If you will remember TJ stated himself several times he would have went pro had the NBA not had their issues at the time. Think about that, the NBA did UK a favor. Not sure UK wins that one without TJ. Kansas had a heck of a team that season. That is fact! Self, himself may not have needed to run out of time...

So he says it 200 times and then you and your ilk ***** about it 200 times. As far as yesterday it was the first tourney game for a team lead by freshman.
