#1 This has been done for months.

#2 Wiseman and his mother absolutely love Cal but Wiseman will play for Penny at Memphis...100%. And he will do so this next season.

#3 Cal knows this. Wiseman would have been at UK next season but with Penny...not happening. This is exactly why Cal has turned the heat up as high as it can go on E.J. Montgomery

He’s going to blow his one year not getting the best training possible. Has Wiseman ever heard of Skal? Very similar situation, and where is Skal now?

i didn't take the time to read through every post but listen as the kids say, we good. Wiseman is a top top tier recruit and Jefferies is top tier. They understand what the difference between Cal and Penny is. Penny isn't going to stop helping them, in fact he'd probably say i want you to go to memphis but if you're not UK is the best of the best. You can't go wrong. They want the Kentucky Effect. Don't sweat losing these kids.

I've heard rumblings that Penny will bring in Larry Brown as assistant coach to help with the on the job training and help recruit. I don't know how I feel about that move lol.

Not saying age can hold him back but Larry will be 78 in September I believe.

Larry has NCAA looming around him at all times, Penny doesn't want to bring that around and I don't think Larry wants it either.

I swear I don't see how any of you on either side of this issue can be so certain about your opinion. I'm just going to have to wait and see .
Lot of wishful thinking lol. Not getting my hopes up, been disappointed to many times.

If you are so sure Cal will land Wiseman... then you willing to bet $ on it?

I’m not a gambler, but I am a fan of actual evidentiary-based opinions and not simple inferences that are mostly saturated in bias; a bias that’s evidently dictated by your recent recruiting disappointments.

Your non-negotiable trail of evidential breadcrumbs leading nowhere but Mount Penny doesn't cut it for me.

Does Wiseman love Penny? Undoubtedly. Has he followed him across the state? Absolutely. Does it mean he'll pick Memphis?

That's the place on the trail where the crumbs end and we run out of evidence to back up your claim. Wall had a similar relationship with Clifton as well. LOTS of folks thought he was Baylor bound because of it.

You have the benefit of cursing the sky right now and declaring any attempt at a top 5 kid futile. If you’re right, you lose nothing and continue your tirade.

If you’re wrong, you get to enjoy watching an elite transcendent player dominate at Kentucky for a year, while claiming, “I’ll gladly eat crow” in a moment that is easily forgivable by any other elated UK fan who might remember your constant gripe fest.

Either way, you win.

I don't think it actually had that much to do with Wiseman. He's one kid, albeit a good one that would definitely help the Hardaway era at Memphis off to a good start.

But you're Memphis - you've tried Cal 2.0 in Pastner as a desperation move, You've tried Tubby Smith as a veteran coach trying to capture lighting in a bottle again - and in both instances, Memphis has slid closer to the basketball abyss.

Penny Hardaway is an exciting coach, he connects to the kids from the AAU circuit, he's got NBA credentials, he's got a 30 for 30 about him and Shaq in Orlando, He's in Blue Chips, hell, he's got Lil Penny as an assistant coach!

Who knows how well he'll coach, but every seat will be filled at the start and kids will want to play for him

We need to lock down Wiseman soon.
If Wiseman wants to come to Kentucky but wants to help Penny, then the thing to do is not commit to Kentucky until Penny has the job in hand at Memphis. That way he can help both coaches and programs!

Yea...your Right. Wiseman & his mother are going to tell Kyle Tucker...lol.

Cal has known since he reached out to Montgomery...so at least over a month or so. They like Cal enough they were not going to leave him in the dark.

So you are saying the Wiseman family knew a month ago that Tubby was going to be fired and Penny hired?
Lottery numbers?
Tourney winner?
Derby winner?
Indy winner?
I will gladly take any help you have available.

I think you’re right and the UK coaching staff was caught completely off guard with this news.

No way anyone could have seen Tubby getting fired with all the success he’s had at Memphis. I’m just sad that Cal wasted so much of his time on Wiseman, especially when it became clear after the Penny/Morgan Freeman in-home visit with the Wiseman family.

Reminds me of that time Xavier Henry followed Calipari to Kentucky and when Deandre Jordan followed Billy G to Kentucky.
So many people aren't gonna catch the sarcasm of your posts

Well...it was no secret it was being discussed by knowledgeable people around Memphis program. Why do you think Andrew Slater logged in his Wiseman to Memphis pick on February 4th? So you really think this behind the scenes knowledge of Tubby being out & Penny being in has never been discussed by Penny with Wisemans?

BTW...UK still leads for Barrett :joy:

A school that would hire a coach that has never coached a second of college basketball in his life to be their head coach, in hopes that he would bring 1 big time recruit (Wiseman) with him. I mean how small minded & short sighted can you get?
