Wnere are all the tv pundits on espn calling Memphis fans racists? Where are they crying?

**** man, Tubby snuck out of here in the middle of the night, no notice, didn't even tell or talk to his players. Coward. But we are the racists monsters that ran him out of town.

Meanwhile - at every other school he's been at - no one wants him more than a couple of years. That's ok though, cause you have to have the result on the court at those places or it's ok to push him out.

Only in Lex did we run off a hell of good coach and a hell of a good man.

I've got nothing against Tubby. I like the guy, and I think he's a great coach. I just don't like the media portrayal that we, as a fan base and a state, get with this type of thing.

I certainly am no fan of Tubby, but if they replace him with a high school coach, they are lunatics. One caveat- if he can persuade Larry Brown to be an assistant, that changes things.

They already tried that with Pastner as far as getting the recruiter and got them nowhere and now they will probably try it again with Hardaway. Either way Kentucky will be fine with Wiseman or without. Part of the problem is Memphis folk think they are something they are not.

Larry Brown means possible probation somewhere down the line at least every where he's coached has been.

I can’t disagree with that. But he can coach and would be exactly what Hardaway would need on a nightly basis to win games.

Attendance down. It’s all about the money.

This is it. Tubby can coach but he plays the most boring style of basketball that there is. Absolutely dreadful to watch. That also contributes to his poor recruiting. His teams usually overachieve which is a good thing if you're U6, IU, or Stoney Brook; not Kentucky.

I thought Tubby did a great job here until he left. I want the best for him. I have two words of advice.

No surprise. Memphis fans and the administration are some of the most delusional people on the planet.

I hope they fail and fail big time with their next hire.

Well, Tubby had 21 wins and had most everyone coming back next year. He would have cemented his position there with a good run, next year, and Memphis didn't want that. They wanted to get rid of him now, and make Hardaway look like a savior.

The difference is Tubby left UK, Memphis fired Tubby.

It doesn't matter. We were still labeled as racist fans for even having the notion of wanting him gone. Regardless if Tubby left on his own accord or was fired, our fans were said to be something we're not. Kentucky fans wanted him gone for the same reasons he is being fired at Memphis. Not recruiting at a high level, putting a boring, stagnant product on the floor and not winning enough games or having any sort of chance to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament. And Memphis attendance is down. They're averaging just 6,000 people in FedEx Forum.

Jeffries' commitment is only verbal and it was quoted that if Hardway is hired by Memphis he would take that under serious consideration.
You mean this quote?

You have a great relationship with Penny Hardaway and he's been rumored to be a candidate at Memphis. Did you consider waiting to see how that plays out in the coming weeks?

D.J. Jeffries: It didn't cross my mind. You never know what Penny might do. Right now he's in the middle of trying to win a state championship. I really didn't want to try and bother what he's trying to focus on right now. I wanted to do what was best for me and Kentucky is best for me.

Penny called my dad yesterday to congratulate me. He said he was proud of me. I don't think he was too hurt about it.

I think they are talking about
his father saying that if Penny got the job they would have to take a really long look at that.

I hear Georgia is hiring, I think he would do well there for some reason lol. Also I don't think his family is having that bad a week. If I remember correctly, doesn't he get a big payoff. Good for him, he was decent there, so I'm glad they get to add to his giant retirement account.

Y'all still trash him at every opportunity 10 years later. Please stop crying and playing the victim.

Tubby isn’t a great coach but he’s way better than Memphis deserves. They won’t replace him with anyone better, and that includes Penny Hardaway.

Wiseman with penny would equal NCAA violations bank it. An AAU coach bringing his players would be looked at bigtime under the microscope. In many high school state athletic associations you cannot even coach your own players at the club level. This has disaster written all over it

I read somewhere that Tubby was showing some symptoms of dementia, could this firing be a result of that? I don’t mean this as a joke because me and my wife have lost close family members to this disease. Didn’t Rose at Arizona retire as a result if dementia? Has anyone heard/saw an interview of Tubby that might have caused you to think that?

You obviously can't read. And when you say "y'all," who do you mean? I didn't trash him, stated fact. My beef is with the media, not Tubby. I don't expect to see anything of value in your posts anyway, so go ahead and keep being stupid.

You may not see any value in my post but you won't see the victim card played either.

Or back to Georgia...
Tubby was a good fit at UGA. Got UGA to the Sweet 16 in 1996 and the first round of the 97 tournament. His record there was 45-19.

Now, some of that was done with the prior coaches players [we've seen that movie before].

I think he'd be a good fit again. UGA would probably win 20 or so games, make the Big Dance and have a relatively clean program.

I hope not as I have first hand family experience with that, but I believe his Dad did have it and there is some evidence to suggest an hereditary connection. Wish him well, he just didn't get it done here.
