So what's Ulis' status?

Seems like he's playing less and less. Would love to have him on the coaching staff one day.

3rd string and too small... not much he can do unless he had some athleticism.

Phoenix was tanking last year for the best draft pick so Ulis got a lot of time...they didn't play any of their veterans ..he just doesn't get that kind of time now....

this is Elfrid Payton, the point guard now....that hair?? im not so sure about

Ulis started a lot of games.
He split time with Mike James.
Mike James was released
Ulis started again; phx signed Canaan who played off bench.
Canaan got hurt.
They traded for Elfrid Payton and now Ulis doesn’t see much time .. they’ll play booker at the 1 if needed

Devin Booker is taking his time as the backup PG due to his playmaking skills.

Blame Devin Booker being so good.

I've looked into it...that's his regular hair..he's worn it for at least 2 seasons.....when he brings the ball up the court it bounces up and down like it's waving at you and if he runs then he blows back and sticks straight up in the air...i dont know how that coul not be a distraction....weird

Ulis was one of my favorites and I hoped he'd be successful but my fear is that this is what will be the norm.

Should have stayed all 4 years. Almost no chance at a second contract. But had to make room for Fox. Collateral damage but Tyler was ok with it.

That is some fulgy hair and last I seen he couldn't shoot all that well. He is a good all around player though prolly averages about 16, 7, 7 or so he is a good rebounder.

I can see that happening, maybe... however I think he’ll sign at least one more contract which will inevitably be in the millions, and he’s already made a few million. He could retire by the age of like 28 and live lavishly for the rest of his life.

The way they talk about Booker as if he's the savior....i suspect if Booker wants Ulis around then he'll probably be around, don't you think?

The guys who fill out rosters are not the most talented guys. In fact, there are plenty of guys in the G-League who are way more talented than guys sitting at the end of NBA benches.

There is only so much playing time to go around. Teams want guys who play hard, practice well and remain focused all the time, so that if they are called upon in a pinch they are ready. If Ulis does those things -- and everything we've seen from him suggests he's that type of guy -- he'll have a spot on a team's bench for a while.

NO, he should not have waited. Tyler was at his peak value ( 1st team AA, DefensivePOY) Plus, he was not going to get any bigger. Keep your fingers crossed that the Booker/Ulis bond might warrant a 2nd contract.

Um ulis had one the best seasons ever at UK WAS AN ALL AMERICAN. He had to strike while it was hot. It had nothing to do with making room for Fox!

Just one of those moronic takes from a troll more than likely.

Or he could become a successful entrepreneur.

My guess is Tyler will have a second successful career. He strikes me as being a winner in whatever he wants to do.

I don’t follow the NBA, but being on this message board, I got the impression that Tyler was doing well.
I guess I’m remembering wrong.

Ulis may or may not have extend his time in the NBA, but playing 4 years at Kentucky wouldn't have changed that. He struck while the iron was hot. His draft stock was never going to be better.

The GM for the sun's did say that Booker will be involved in personnel decisions. Not sure to what extent but if he wants Tyler there he will be. But this is the Sun's.... And they have made some pretty boneheaded moves over the past few years.

Ulis just not good enough to play. Eflrdi Payton and Devin Booker are their primary ball handlers, both are vastly superior to Ulis, especially Booker.. Payton doesn't provide much in the way of three point shooting, but he's a bit of a Rondo type PG so you can live with the lack of outside shooting given what all else he provides.

Not to hijack the thread but does anyone know what' up with Andrew Harrison? He was going off for a couple weeks for the Grizzlies, now his name isn't even in the boxscore. I'm assuming injury
