He was officially a joke back in the 90's. Now he's just another symbol of ESPN's decline. No other network would have him at this point. He's at the stage that he can't even do a credible job of calling games now. Forget about his stupid statements. I got off the Dick V bandwagon back when he called UK fans racist for not keeping Tubby. Never mind that Tubby left on his own accord.

Yep the bashing of us fans for being tired of mediocrity in regards to OTS was the final straw for me.

Yeah he was pounding UK fans pretty hard back then and this CAT fan hasn't forgotten...he can pound sand.

I’ve ripped him on twitter for his stance in the Crypt Keeper, but can anyone actually explain why he continuously defends him (and is now defending Miller).

I honestly don’t get it.

That is pretty hypocritical. I'd love to hear his reasoning.

They are friends and owned a horse together. That is why he is sticking up for his friend and business partner. I think they might even be connected with a book that they both were a part of.

He probably has 0 connection to Miller so he has no problem throwing him under the bus for a similar infraction. At least Miller wasn't banging women on restaurant tables, paying for abortions, and running a brothel for underage recruits out of a dorm named after his brother in law (as far as we know Miller wasn't). Both coaches though have cheated (according to the leaked info) and both deserve to be punished.

Little known fact....Pitino's brother in law died during 911.

The earliest was circa 1986...
Peewee Herman vs Arnold schwartzinegar (sp)
When Rex had a huge, huge game... but all Dick did was put down Lock and praise Robinson.
His book signing (shortly after) drew hardly anyone and he heard it from the fans... he did not come back to Lexington for a long time.

I was at that game and didn't hear Vitale but some of my friends who watched it on TV were livid. I am not sure Vitale knew we won the game.

Vitale has made his bed with Pitino. They are compatible with one an another and have business dealings. So when the entire world knows Pitino is a bigger rat than every coach in sports Vitale eats with him in the sewers and garbage dumps both frequent. He is a sad old man and all I can say is Bless His Heart and pass the biscuits

Dick is a cbb junky, a charitable contributor and a dammed poor judge of character or events. He is in no way a bad person, just annoying.
Agree. he is a fine person but can be annoying and biased in the extreme. He loves the game and the young men. he wants what's best for both. Like all of us, he has his biases and personal quirks that can drive one crazy. He often is emotional and this leads to statements that are downright wrong objectively. Example: The wildcat base did not drive OTS off and certainly did not "drive him off" for racial reasons. Hell, KY fans would support Farrakhan if he could coach and recruit a winning squad!

Dookie Vitale should have been smothered in moth balls last decade - hell he can't even see the game
sitting courtside...ESPN should throw a bag of money at Gus Johnson and show Dick the retirement
community with Patrick...

Look how fast some turned on Cal after a few losses. UK fans would pull for a coach of rainbow race if he wins games. Race had absolutely zero to do with Tubby's loss of favor with 99.9% of the fan base.

As obnoxious as Bilas can be, I think he would make a lot of needed improvements to the game.

Actually agree, plus we woudn't have to hear him talk as much. Hardly ever. That's why he'll never do it because he likes to hear himself talk.
