Somebody had to do it.

:joy: We have about as much chance of making a CFP as you all do of making a final 4 and being relevant in the world of basketball. Neither will ever happen, but again, we’ve still actually played in the post season in the last 15 years.Well, when we're in position to possibly be a 1 seed and win the conference, we kinda are relevant.
Hard to say. You'd need to actually win your division and maybe be in the hunt for the CFP or something for us to know for sure.

[pfftt]Aww ****, I’ve heard it all now. ROFLMAO, the only chance AU has of being a 1 seed is if all the other teams die in plane crashes.

I think it means the SEC tournament. It may not even be aware they seed the NCAA tourney. In truth, their experience there is minuscule.
You definitely are putting your name in that realm by implying your of relevance or signifigance in any way in college basketball. I would say most people believed Auburn basketball left when Charles Barkley did. Someone could name the other 13 basketball teams in the conference and ask someone for the 14th and most people would struggle to figure out it was Auburn that was missing. In fact, I think that may have been a trivia question before.Hey, it's not me putting our name in that realm. I just hear what the various experts say about the seedings. I think it will be hard to do with the leading shot blocker in the conference out for the season and only an 8-man rotation, so it will likely end up being a 2-seed. But hey, we're in the hunt.
Go look at the top, kenpom and sagarin. There is not much difference between auburn and Kentucky.Well, and the small matter of us beating you by 10.
Oh, and you losing @Missouri by 9 and us winning @Missouri by 18.
We lost on the road to Alabama by 5 and beat them at home by 19. You won at home by 10.
You beat A&M at home by one, we lost to A&M at home by one. Big whoop.
Well, we play three other teams in the top half and they are all on the road. We already beat Tennessee and MSU on the road and we play Florida on the road this weekend.
Some notes:
1. We beat you head to head by 10.
2. We've played just as tough a conference slate and are 4 games ahead
3. While you eked out a 5 point win vs UGA at home, we blasted them at home and at their place.
4. You don't play MSU home and home either and you got to play them at Rupp.
5. You struggled to scrape out 2 to 5 point wins against Vandy and LSU while we pounded them both, by 11 and 25 respectively.
But yeah, other than that, we're no better than you.
Hey, I can't make you be a grown up. All I can tell you is how the rules work on these things. If you want to be an emotional toddler about it, it's a free country.
I just know not to take any claims you make seriously on anything going forward.
This Kentucky team is ranked higher at this point than we were in 2014.That's true. But I do know in even my limited basketball knowledge that there's only one of our teams who has any shot at all at claiming one this year.
You’ll make the tournament and get knocked out by a mid major that has vastly more tournament experience this decade than your school likely has in the last 8 decades. You’ll likely be middle of the pack next year and for the foreseeable future.
This Kentucky team is ranked higher at this point than we were in 2014.
I guess you're admitting that the only team with a chance is Kentucky.
Go look at the top, kenpom and sagarin. There is not much difference between auburn and Kentucky.
In fact we are ranked higher with sagarin.
The main difference is that we have played 14 top 50 teams and you all have played 7. We have played 6 top 25 teams and you all have played 3. That cupcake schedule is going to be exposed in the SECT and NCAAT.
Oh. I didn't realize u were talking about seeding. For some reason I thought you said making a final four. Sorry. You have no chance of getting a one-seed. Or a two-seed. If you went on a complete tear and won out from here through the SEC tourney, maybe you'll get a three-seed.
Congrats. It doesn't fill in the gaping holes in your argument that I pointed out.
EDIT: KenPom has us 8th and you 25th. The current RPI rankings has us 6th and you 15th. No one cares about Sagarin. According to the RPI, we are 6-3 against the top 50 (that's 9 games, not 7). You're 6-7 (13 games). We're 3-1 vs the top 25 while you're 1-5. What is it with you and relaying factual data accurately?
No,you really won’t, but it’s adorable that you think so. Your coach is already implicated in the FBI mess. This after being given a 4 year show clause. He’s done. As are most the bigtime players he recruited. Wiley will never play another minute in college. He’s straight to the pros or overseas.haha.
We return the entire 9-man rotation from this year and add more talent, possibly even return Austin Wiley. We'll be better than middle of the pack bruh.

Even in the event you did keep Pearl and the ineligible players, you still wouldn’t do ****. You all had Charles Barkley and have still never been past the elite 8. Even Pearl hasn’t been past it. No one is concerned about Auburn being good or relevant in the world of CBB. I would be more concerned about every mid major in the country before Auburn.
Your coach is still a cheating liar.
Actually he isn't, but I'm getting used to you having your facts garbled.
Three year.
The only thing in that section you might have right is Wiley going pro. But if he doesn't go NBA, he'll be back. Purifoy won't play another minute for us though.
Well, that's how you approached this year to and look where that's gotten you.
Paul Finebaum is the InfoWars of sports journalism. You only mock yourself referring to him.
Finebaum isn’t well liked in Auburn. He helped exposed corruption and cheating involving the football program.
Auburn has quite the history of corruption and cheating. Their current cheating lying basketball coach is quite in line with that trend.
I guess this comes with always being second best. The little brother syndrome.
Finebaum has never helped expose anything. He just repeats things other people say, and indulges in a heavy dose of rumor and innuendo when there's nothing else he has. He's an older Clay Travis.
It appears that looking throughout NCAA sanction history, we have 7 instances and Kentucky has six. And I believe one of ours was for something involving tennis. If ours is LBS, what's your excuse?
And SACS has had to put you on probation. Just like The Filth in NC.
You have a six page thread discussing your lying cheating coach, the ineptness of your basketball program, SACS probation, having a coach on trial and other shame. You should feel proud.
You do realize before a bunch of Auburn douchebag trolls showed up, most here respected your team and fan base. Most of us realize it’s just the dregs of the Auburn fan base, like yourself. That is changing. Have fun troll boy. Give us more reason to trash your little brother school on the plains.
And be sure to get a picture of that Good Year 2018 banner before it comes down.
Because of things like too much board interference into the athletic department decisions and a few members had too much power over the decisions of the board or they were doing business with the school while on the board. It was nothing like UNCs situation.
Deere lourde, do you guys ever bother looking things up before blathering loudly about them?
Most of it comes from ignorant rubes like you repeating the same unsubstantiated nonsense.
All that typing and you never actually addressed the fact that your program is no better in terms of history with the NCAA than the one you think is so dirty. Congrats. That took work.
And you still have a cheating liar for a coach and a school who knew before they hired him.
You support the cheating, lying coach and brag about one year of mediocrity which will likely be erased.
Another wailing loser troll on Rafters.
Lol, I guess time will tell. Let me ask, will you actually come back to admit you were wrong when it happens?Actually he isn't, but I'm getting used to you having your facts garbled.
Three year.
The only thing in that section you might have right is Wiley going pro. But if he doesn't go NBA, he'll be back. Purifoy won't play another minute for us though.

Paul Finebaum is the InfoWars of sports journalism. You only mock yourself referring to him.
And you still have a bad habit of failing to back up things you say. I've shown in the other thread the one situation where Pearl didn't abide by NCAA rules. You claim there's a history of it but Google doesn't seem to agree. I eagerly await facts catching up with your mouth.
You're going to be so disappointed. I think I'll set a reminder on my phone to check back this time next year when Pearl is still the coach at Auburn and we're competing for the SEC title again.
Lol, I guess time will tell. Let me ask, will you actually come back to admit you were wrong when it happens?
Neither will ever play and I would imagine any current recruits will likely end up elsewhere. Again, time will prove that.
Where’s it gotten us? You might win the SEC regular season championship and you’ll actually make the tournament for the first time in 15 years.
You won’t win the sec championship and you’ll flame out before the sweet 16 to a mid major. Again, where has that gotten us?
Hell, in football you won the west and where did that get you? You got pounded in the SEC championship and watched your in state rival, whom you beat, win it all.
Finebaum is an annoying prick, but he is deeply connected within the SEC and he’s far from the only person who thinks Pearl is done. I would believe him long before an anonymous Auburn poster who’s on a UK board trying to convince people AU basketball is relevant or ever will be.
You mean when you STILL have a cheating lying coach that YOU support. Yeah you come back little troll boy.
You do know I live in the state. I haven’t even started dredging up the filth on the plains. And there is a LOT to dredge up. All thanks to you.
:joy: We have about as much chance of making a CFP as you all do of making a final 4 and being relevant in the world of basketball.
I actually believed you all would be decent this year, I think you will be most years with Pearl. He’s a decent coach. He’s obviously broken some rules to maintain that status, but he can coach nonetheless.Sure.
We haven't played either ineligible player one minute this season. The current results will remain as they are on the court.
Right. Underestimate this group at your own peril.
Well, that's fortune-telling. I'm just saying, you had certain expectation for us this year and we're sitting at 24-4 and have a 2 game lead in the conference with 3 to play. So forgive me if I don't put a lot of stock in your expectations for us next year with the entire team returning and adding more talent to that group.
Non sequitur.
Finebaum isn't nearly as connected as he'd like you to believe.
I actually believed you all would be decent this year, I think you will be most years with Pearl. He’s a decent coach. He’s obviously broken some rules to maintain that status, but he can coach nonetheless.
However, none of that changes the fact that you had to fire an asst coach involved in the FBI investigation that just got a lot larger. Your teams recruiting picked up substantially during that time. If you don’t believe there were violations that are going to impact players eligibility, you’re clueless.
Your coach keeps putting off the talking to the administration and there is a reason for it. I know you keep saying they had preliminary talks, but that means they’ve only discussed talking about it and dealing with it in the future.
Recruits tend to not go somewhere under a cloud of investigation, particularly when it involves the FBI. Nor do they usually go somewhere that the coach is potentially getting fired for as part of it. I know you guys are new to basketball, but that’s common sense.
Finebaum is far more connected than you would like to admit.
Curious...other than the BBQ situation at UT, what rules has he broken to maintain his status as a good coach? What other recruiting violations have occurred with him at any school that you know of? Just so we're clear, the situation at Auburn/Chuck Person isn't related to recruiting. There's zero evidence or allegations that it was anything of that nature. Person was trying to steer kids who were already at Auburn to particular agents to make some kickbacks on the side and he may have given some of the money (believed to be around $1000 or so) to those two players. And neither of them have played one minute for us this season.
So what else is there?
There are no other players on the team affected by this. We sat the two who were implicated.
Because there's an active FBI investigation going on. They've talked enough for now, and once the FBI is done he'll sit down with Auburn officials to answer questions. That is sound legal advice from his lawyer and I wouldn't blame any coach for doing the same.
But put it this way, we like basketball at Auburn. We'd like to be competitive. But it ain't the goose that lays golden eggs. If we had substantial reason to believe Pearl would be implicated in all this, he wouldn't still be the coach.
True, but in the end, I think what you'll find is that Pearl wasn't in on the scheme Person was running. In fact when you read what Person was pitching to the agents, he was actually stabbing us in the back...trying to target kids he thought might leave early and encourage them to do so sooner rather than later so he got paid. So Pearl will be at Auburn next year. There might be some additional minor penalties, but the damage was contained by immediately sitting the two players involved before the season started.
I've lived here most of my life. I know Finebaum's schtick. He used to be much more of an investigative guy in his newspaper days. He's on cruise control now. He's a sports talk version of Jerry Springer.
