With pine floors, seeing the grain and the knots is what makes them really attractive... i'd be careful going too dark with your stain. May as well put down laminate (lol).

90's shuffle
Candyman- Knockin Boots
Third Eye Blind- Graduate
Oasis- Dont look back in anger
The Verve- Lucky Man
No Doubt- Dont Speak

Mardi Gras Ball tomorrow night. Dont really get to throw on a tux very often anymore, but I enjoy really overdoing it on occasion. Anxious to see which one of the 3 dresses that my wife bought for this, she actually wears.

Almost finished with "West Cork" on Audible. Its *pretty good* but not up there with some of the best podcast mysteries. Still worth a listen and not really all that long. Its an unsolved murder story in Ireland... towns only murder ever apparently.

College officiating is incredibly awful. Higgins deserves the shitstorm he got last year as it is, and Jacobi Boykins getting ejected for 2 insanely bad T calls last night is the worst (so far).

There's gotta be an investigation into those technicals. Even I don't believe a ref actually thought those were good calls. I know it sounds like some Sheriff, black helicopter type stuff, but those are really weird calls.

-69 degrees, ceiling fan, and boxers ONLY for sleeping. Thanks...

-Got an offer on the old house. $10K apart after a couple rounds of negotiations. TFP.

-Agree with Clark re: hardwoods. Then again, people want dark brown floors, white kitchens, gray EVERYTHING and barn doors or GTFO.

-Would like one more decent snow before March 1.

-Have enjoyed some Bach this week at the office. Virtually no music is appealing to me right now, so classical it is.

-Old man has a girlfriend. Haven't met her but a widow herself and apparently a great lady. Good for him. I know some people have trouble with their widowed parents dating, but sure beats thinking he's lonely all the damn time. Besides, he'll have to deal with Mom on the other side, not us.

-Haven't worn a tux in too long. Need to get that **** right and soon. Speaking of, have noticed more and more men have moved towards the prince Albert slipper with black tie. I DO NOT SUPPORT. Yes, that includes you, Richie. Such a ***** *** look IMO.

-Louisville is a dump, I get it. But I like that with the new bridge the city's signature image is now facing west downtown just east of said new bridge. Pretty dope, actually.

-Draft Miller Lite is still the play with bottomless chips and salsa. F your margaritas.

-True sand and finished hardwood is really the only way to go. Pre-finished and engineered floors can get pumped. I really don't even understand the pine floor question. Did you buy a cabin?

-Marvin Bagley committed 0 personal fouls last night. I wish a stats ball would break down the likelihood of a big committing 0 fouls after 39 minutes of play. That is amazing to me.

-10K is about $50 more a month on the mortgage. Just something to consider. Then again, the last time I sold my house the people offered me the number I was willing to sell for. I didn't see it worth it to haggle over 1-2K.

I house I lived in as a teenager is up for sale again. I get that a lot should change in 30 years, but the updates/remodel still blew my mind to see pretty much everything gutted. Barely recognizable.

Ready for spring. Lots of things on the radar- new fence, removing trees, doing a little concrete work. Anxious to get that going.

Was thinking about doing Cooperstown for the HoF inductions this year, but I think I'd rather do a roadie out west. Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, etc. I've visited 38 states, and the vast majority I haven't seen are in the mid/mountain west.

Friday 5 Randoms:
Dokken- It's Not Love
Prince- U Know
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers- American Girl
Johnny Paycheck- I'm the Only Hell My Mama Ever Raised
Eagles- New Kid in Town

Prosecutors and cops are going to LOVE Marsy’s law.
As with many of these types of laws I’m sure it comes from a good place with good intent...then the legislature gets involved and they become a logistical and funding nightmare.

If your elected official isn't doing their job with victim advocacy, don't make more laws just voice your opinion at the voting booth.

I'm not an expert but staining pine dark sounds really weird. Older pine has that amber color that is gorgeous. I'd refinish those puppies and leave them natural color.

We were able to save the Knotty Pine Floors in one of the rooms of our house and they're some of the best looking floors I've ever seen. It's a shame the other rooms were destroyed.

Prince Albert slippers are for people with Prince Albert piercings.

Anybody wanna do a golf trip to Mayakoba?

2K.

I thought it was a pretty simple question- I bought an old house with pine wood floors that need refinishing. What finish would contractorballs suggest? I prefer a darker finish.

- Floors getting done tomorrow- a dark brown finish on pine? Thoughts?

Of course it's all personal preference but dark hardwood floors are tricky to me. They look really great immediately after they've been cleaned but they also show everything (walking on them barefooted leaves visible footprints everywhere).

Thanks buddy. I don’t have much experience.

One of our rooms upstairs has the dark finish and it looks great but it is not a high traffic area.

wcc, does your fiancé prefer the darker stain? There is your correct answer. Anth is the expert on everything but doesn't actually know ****. BBdK is just going to make fun of you no matter what you do.

Or listen to someone like ukalum01 who is giving you a good, informed opinion.

Friday Shorts:

John's on Bleecker is >>>> the imposter in midtown, but it's definitely nowhere near the best. Multiple places on the same street/block better.

-Good stuff, SAE. Rest assured your old man had been dreading that conversation for awhile & is relieved to have had it. We went through that when Memommie started dating (and eventually remarried), and it was fine. Both widows, and understood nobody is trying to replace anybody. Made her happy & kept her busy, and that was more than good enough for us.

Oh, and those Pics from Yum at (and well after) tip were :eyes:

-8:15pm tip Saturday runs into #LivePD, which really pisses me off. What a horrible tip time, much worse than the 9pm Tuesday slot.

-Jerusalem Kitchen for lunch, favorite ethnic in town these days.

-New Chad continues to amaze

-Vegas for conference tournament weekend. :fire: Had that on the radar for awhile...nonstop action without the circus that the 1st Rd presents. Non-refundable $1500 room in St. Louis w/ us playing on Thursday was too much risk. Easy Call.

^ Harmon will be there too -- but he's attending the Mountain West Conference tournament b/c he's obsessed with Eric Musselman, the Nevada Wolfpack, and the MWC in general. [laughing] What. A. Weirdo!

-Walk 9 after work. Need to check with Anth, but hopefully it doesn't take 6 hours.

-Black Panther Soundtrack is awful. I still have no clue wtf that movie or whatever even is, but I'm confident that it sucks.

-Olympics is some of the best background TV there is. Always sad when it abruptly ends right as you're getting accustomed to it being on all/air. #cueitup

-Learn how to play golf Pope, and people might consider. Doubt it tho.

BS. You can pull the trump card on major items like flooring. You just have to give up on other areas. Also, my answer was perfect.

-pine is soft. A *dark* stain is likely to show more imperfections/dents/scratches.

-look at early american walnut by minwax. Darkish...but not too trendy. Classic.

RIP KC. What a great dude.

It's the best thing about the past couple years and living up to the hype. "What color should I stain my pine wood floors?" WildCatChad asked that question in real life.

Major Jelly.

Shouldn't take 45 minutes to waddle around that par 3 Fairdale goat ranch. You're good. A muni in mid summer, plan on 5 hours on the course, 30 minutes early, 30 minutes for post round beers and drive time.

..and random gambol.

My grandma recently started dating a guy from her childhood who told my mom that he always knew they were meant to be together and it was all part of God’s plan. My mom informed him her father dying so he could reunite with his childhood crush was NOT God’s plan.

It’s been going as well as you’d expect since then.

Find a piece of pine like the floor and visit your local Lowe's. They usually have samples of all the stain colors at the paint desk that you can try. Try 5-6 or more and take it home and decide which you like best with your soon to be wife.

Why would I listen to Dave Portnoy about pizza? If I’m going to be eating pizza in NYC, I’m going to be getting my recs from BBdK, the guy who went to pizza college on vacation. No brainer, IMO.
