I agree. He is smarmy though the last couple of years but boy does he know B-ball.
Not as down on Bilas in general as much as some of y'all, but I thought he clowned himself tonight. WVU was basically fouling UK on every possession but he sure picked some odd calls to ***** about. I did appreciate that he replayed the ridiculous offensive foul called on Kevin Knox.
He's kind of turning into Billy Packer - Packer always had a preconceived "story line" for every game and stick with it no matter what happened on the floor. Tonight Bilas was so sure the young Cats would fold under WVU's massive pressure and shot blocking. He stuck with this story the entire game even when it was clear 3 minutes into the second half that the Cats were not folding.

You all much have watched a different game than me. He was critical of the Cats when we were getting our *** kicked, then he was positive when we were playing well and coming back. He criticized the refs for calls on both sides. He said that it was a bs foul on Knox on the out of bound play. He said he thought Hami fouled on the jump ball. By the way, I've always wondered about that. Just because you are going for the ball, I don't think you are allowed to just jump on top of a guy on the ground in an attempt to get a loose ball. He says what he thinks, which at times was positive for us when we were playing well, but negative when we were playing poorly. It is his job. This board was much more negative about UK and our players tonight than Jay Bilas was. Some of you just want everyone to say UK can do no wrong, when they obviously can.
Bilas is one of the best college BB commentators of all the networks. He knows CBB, when a player makes a mistake he explains why, very insightful. Has a good sense of humor. Says a lot of nice things about the Cats. Sure he may be bias toward the ACC but I believe he gives Kentucky a fair assessment. I think some of our fans are too sensitive. Give me some names of who would do a better job of announcing.
This is cool. Bilas is an interesting dude. I still haven’t figured him out yet.
What he stated during the game is what counts. That was a long time...His few words mean nothing. I guess he typed that after he finished crying into pukey V's coffee...
Did you not hear him praising UK and the comeback. His comments about Knox? What does someone in the national media have to do to make you not hate them?
Most of you people that criticize refs and announcers are just insufferable. He called the game, praised our kids and team when they were doing well, criticized them when they weren't. What do you want from the man?

Some “fans” claiming Bilas is SOOOO GOOD, I guess he forgot we’ve beaten WVU handily twice since that game.

Bilas is a hypocrite, plain and simple. He has an agenda like EVERYONE at ESPN. That agenda is to pump up the ACC and in particular, Duke and UNC. His feigned support of anything UK is obviously done in a begrudging manner.

Because these guys get paid to get on t v and call a game and be reasonably objective.I could do a better job of being objective and talking about what everyone sees happen as opposed to talking about what I want everyone to see.

You couldn't be more wrong. Bilas has turned into just another talking head who thinks his opinion is more important than the game. It is impossible to listen to his stupidity.
I agree to a certain extent. But you can not hide his Duke bias, to the point Cal even called him out on it last year prior to brackets being released. Also, what did make me a little upset was during draft night after Cal sat up there with guys (after getting 3 of his players in the lottery, 3! when duke had the "better" recruiting class) I forgot who said something about De'arron Fox but Bilas chimed in with well that had nothing to do with Cal.. even the other guys were taken back from that comment. Of the Espn guys I think Greenberg does the best of telling it how he feels without personal bias, Jay Williams does not really bother me, I kinda think he really says how he feels again no agenda. Bilas on the other hand I believe does have an agenda and prior comments about UK or cal were said in bad taste. He does not bother me but I do not care for him either.
No we the people are not,,we don't need Bilas to tell us what should have happened or what either team should have done or not done,just tell us what happened,what the call was and what is going on outside the camera shot we are seeing..I don't give 2 hoots about what he is critical of,I can make up my own mind about what I see on the screen.

I get on this board solely to read about UK and to discuss issues because my doctors tell me that at my age it is beneficial to get in discussion where I have to consider my position. He tells me it will help my mental health. But when I read crap like this, I think this is diminishing my mental health because you don't think. You read somewhere, here most likely, that you are supposed to not like Bilas, so you continuously post crap complaining about him. You say you can make up your own mind about what you see....then why listen to anyone call the game? Listen to it in silence. Nothing he says will make you happy. He was extremely fair tonight and you are mad because you are not smart enough to know that he was fair because you have been told you are not allowed to like him and appreciating his fairness would mean you are not a UK fan. As I said, I use this board as a tool to stay engaged, some of you make it hard.
I always liked Jay Bilas as a commentator in the past years because he was one that on ESPN always gave UK positive feedback. I agree that it must took a 100% turn when Coach Cal last year was talking about Duke and the #1 seed. Bilas this year has not been the same and he has now turned out like the rest of the ESPN pro ACC conference. He has been all DUKE and UNC this year and he has turned into the other ESPN workers that are all-ACC. I am sure after Duke and UNC lost today he was for sure rooting for WVU to take down UK. Bilas was never this way while working at ESPN and that is why he was one of my Favorites because of this. He is now no different from the other All ACC Commentators and Workers at ESPN.
So what would make you happy. The announcers saying UK is always right and every team in the country other than UK is always wrong? You did realize that every other team in the country refers to our arena as CoRuppt Arena. It is all perspective, but dipshits have none.
