Jones, Gabriel, Vanderbilt, Alexander and Green are the 5 that play the hardest the longest and play within the team concept. Would like to see Cal play these 5 together more minutes and see what happens.

IMO the thing with this team is there isn't a clear cut best 5. Each of them have their strengths and inconsistencies.

Not included in your 5:
Washington - our best consistent post player and rebounder
Richards - best "per minute" player (fails the eye test a lot, but is very productive)
Knox - streaky, but one of our best playmakers/shooters

Right now, those 3 play when they want to. They know they are going to get their minutes, regardless. In very short periods of time here and there they do give us those things. Just wondering what the 5 that plays the 'hardest' and plays the best 'team' ball would look like over long periods of time.

Remember when Cal used to say "I can't hide you" a thinly veiled reference to DW.

Now he has 7/8 "I can't hide yous"

Everyone on the team has serious holes in their game at this point in time. That's why you see threads like this.

It's not clear what the best rotations are or what any individual is actually going to produce in any given game.

I'd have to go back and look but I remember thinking at one point during the UF game, what are those five doing on the court together. Only lasted a couple of minutes though. Might have been during the lull after the 28-20 lead, not sure.

Seems we was up 29-20?, on a roll and here comes 3 subs in. It IS a problem when 5 stars 'has' to get their minutes. One of the negatives in a 'players' program. Just wish Cal would make a hard statement for a few games that you either play harder than the other team and you play total team ball or you don't play a lot.

Where does our outside shooting come from this year? We don't have a Murray or Monk this year to stretch the defense..
Need an outside scorer to add to the mix. Our hits and misses seem entirely random.
Our biggest hole seems to be a consistent outside shooting threat.

After that lead we turned it over about 4 times in a row. We seem to get on these horrible slides and we can't stop. That's on the whole team.

I have always thought that when you have a combination on the floor that is playing well together (especially if someone has the hot hand) that you stay with them until things start going the other way. It used to be like that but not so much now.
